@Meepyy no dude in the video was correct because majority of the people in the India are brown because of the climate and weather. But also there are people who are whiter than the rest of Indians like the people from the northern and Eastern areas of India. They aren't less Indians ofcourse. At the end we all are Indians and have varied skin color just like our culture ❤

When I was young, I heard the phrase "you are so cute. If you were fairer you would have been perfect.". Whether it be complete strangers or relatives. I heard it frequently. But as I grew older and actually took care of my skin ( sunscreen was the biggest change as well as less direct exposure to the sun), my skintone got a little lighter (never bleached) and everyone complemented me and asked me if I bleached my skin. And then they focused on my weight because they couldn't critisize my skin any longer. Moral- People are going to find any reason to dish out back handed compliments and critisize you. Jealous people will always focus on making you feel negative.

When I was little like 5 year old, I had told my dad that I wanted to be a performer who appears on television. He said, I still remember the words clearly, "One Bipasha Basu is enough. You don't have to become the next dark skinned girl who makes movies. Who will watch your dark skin and body on TV?" My dad has a thing for fair complexion. He always expresses that when I was born, I was fair but with time, I got tan. He also prefers company of fair skinned people. My dad is dark himself. I don't know how he developed this mindset that his own children are not beautiful. When my brother was obese, Dad would never take him anywhere with himself. But today, my brother has become one of the best looking men of my family. Now, Dad wants him to join him for public functions. But my introvert brother just refuses to let go of his self time. Coming back to me, Dad still criticizes my looks. I am 23 and have a baby face. When I had bangs, he said "you look ugly, ugly as a monkey. Never get bangs again." When I had a french bob, he said "you look funny. But ugly." I have lost some weight due to work stress. He always points that out. One time when he tried to call me ugly, I said- " You are right, do you know why am I ugly? Because I have got your face. I am your carbon copy. Had I gotten mum's face, I, too, would have been good looking as my brother." That made him shut up. Love my mum for always calling me her most beautiful girl. She says that I am the prettiest girl she has ever seen. I should not be ashamed or unconfident. I have also given up on fair skin. I know nothing is gonna change my complexion and this is the color I would take to grave. So why not love it. Let me tell you, good skincare would make your dusky skin glow. My mum says when dusky skin glows it looks like gold.
Not only colourism but they expect women to be perfect in shape size colour nature And character etc etc there are countless measures I'm not tan skinned but a little chubby and I've lost count how many times I was bullied as a teenager by teachers aunties and relatives

It is happening bro , in my school fair skin girls are prioritised a lot , there is a idiotic person in my school saying fair skin girl will not lie I can't understand her logic ,She was my teacher . In our school rich kids are prioritised a lot . The way school management and teachers treat them as a celebrity They never think how other kids will feel when they have talent but due to skin colour , money influence their small opportunities are taken away from them still those ppl say every students in their class is like their kids But there is also good teachers who encourage us . That makes me happy thinking that not everyone is bad
As an Irish person (who are notorious for being extremely pale) it's interesting to me that for us, we are always pressured to tan to have a deeper skin tone, and Indian people often want paler skin and sometimes bleach their skin.. i think people just often want what they don't have and maybe just embracing yourself is the better option:( and tbh coming from experience having pale skin really isn't all its made out to be. in reality we usually burn VERY easily in the sun and walk around looking like a tomato after even 30 minutes outside lol
In asian culture, in general, being tan means the person works under the sun or is a physical laborer or belongs to a lineage of physical laborer. Which is seen as inferior to someone who doesn't do such things like royalties in the past. I don't understand, what is wrong in doing any type of job if you are doing it with dignity. Be it under the sun or roof. Sad thing is such mindset still exist today. Parents are inculcating the wrong moral values into the children, and I won't even talk about the entertainment industry.
@@hannahchew1503Exactly. It's not gonna go away anytime soon, since asian countries from india to south korea, all see pale white skin as the golden standard. Then high probability that going to have a darker skin tone daughter treated like what he's promoted by not accepting girls of a darker skin tone like themselves.
This is sad to watch, but it's true. As a Korean when I was little, I witnessed that my sister was treated better to my father since she had lighter skin, which considered prettier. It broke my heart that I was not loved by my skin tone even though mine wasn't considered dark among Korean girls back then. So I guess that my dad had sort of racism. 😢
Happened to me as well with my Granma. Even if she's Mexican she has light skin as well as my mom. But my dad has a darker skin color. Among my cousins I have the darkest skin color so she would do remarks about my skin color. She told me to cover up. So I used long sleeved shirts every day, no matter the wether. That was until 6 grade when for the first time I wore a short sleeved shirt and my clase mates were shocked bc they had never seen me without long sleeves. In conclusion you are beautiful just the way you are. ❤
Usually if it's within the same race it's colorism. God I remember when Kdrama had actors who were just a little bit tan. Nowadays all the tanner people are old men.
I'm SEA and my mom EXCLUSIVELY bathes using whitening soap. It's maybe a bit more subtle here cuz everyone's tan, but "don't stay out in the sun you'll become blacker" is something I've definitely heard. Horror stories of darker people getting bullied always pop up too
As a naturally fair skin toned person who gets sun tanner extremely easily, the difference in how people treat you when you are fairer and darker is extremeeeee
Well, I think it depends on country. I am really white (even pale), but I become tanned really easy, and I hear compliments from other people about my skin. People in Europe like to take sunbathе
The way I got shamed for my tanned skin by some relatives and my mom defended me by showing them pictures of me in my pale era and them remarking that I “used to be pretty” 💀💀💀 it’s a struggle bro

It's not as easy as you see it, dark skinned people are always from poor class/lower caste in countries with both fair and dark skin tones specially in South Asia as people with low caste/class did more hardwork and farming than upper class who was rich, didn't do hardwork, got education and lived peacefully, that's why most dark skinned people tend to be poor, prone to br criminals, uneducated, belong to poor family and be shorter, uglier because their poor ancestors were more prone to famines thus giving them bad genes. And those rare fair skinned people born in poor families tend to marry a rich partner because they have their beauty to offer to the rich unlike their dark skinned countrrparys, taking away entirely the fair genes from lower classes. Also on the matter of looks dark skin is more oily, tend to have more hyperpigmentation and looks dirtier because you get darker if you don't bath or be more exposed to dirt and dust not fairer. Also dark skin looks boring with black hairs and eyes unlike whiteskin. Most Indians also tend to have a dull brown skin which looks ugly unlike europeans or fair people who got tanned who have golden.
In my opinion, fair skin doesn't define beauty. A girl with a dark skin is as beautiful as a girl with fair skin. I don't understand the obsession with fairer skin.

Sorry but being beautiful matters, just as much as being smart, academically brilliant, physically strong, socially adept. All these things matter and its wrong to ignore one of them even if it makes u feel insecure. Your sister needs to either learn colouring doesn’t matter much. There’s plenty of beautiful dark skinned women, and this is not a cope. Colouring doesn’t really matter that much and is completely subjective to different cultures and people. What really defines beauty if your structure. Your height, frame shape, your jaw shape, size, your nose shape and size, evenness of your eye area’s skin tone, your brow ridge size, your temple size, your cranium shape etc. Thats what really determines beauty, colouring not so much. Literally just google “hot dark girls” and you cant tell me the girls that appear are ugly. Colouring appeal depends on what is common. If you are a brown eyed girl in a whole country full of blue eyed girls, *you* will be the exotic one. Not them. But if she thinks she would look better with slightly lighter skin, skin whitening is not impossible. Just dont bleach ffs.

It's crazy how within a country there's such a thing as color discrimination of their own kind, as well as from school at that. I'm Filipino, and here in our country we've alwasy been taught to be proud of our "kayumanggi" skin tone. Although, a lot of girls here do still sought out whitening or bleaching their skin, there's no such thing as being bullied for skin color here since we've accepted darker skin tone to be normal.
@@aerighthere totally agree. In fact one of my close friends is Filipino and his grandmother treats his fair skinned cousins as if they're Gods and treats him as if he's a wild dog, even though they all have the same red blood running through their veins.
@@aerighthere same thoughts lol the prevalent media push for loving morena skin is fairly recent in the last 10 years. A lot of people still praise the mestiza and chinita beauty over morena. Like you said, many kids are teased over having skin that's darker than the typical tan, all the more those with indigenous features and afro like hair.
Where in the Philippines do you live because there's still colorism here. Some people have started to be more accepting of our natural skin color but whitening products still sell well
Lmfao. What world are you living in, PH love light skin. Even all their beauty contestants have to be lighter than the average fillipina or mixed white race
I have been bullied verbally by my teachers so many times.I remember one time we were auditioning for a play & I did great. But one of my teacher told that if we take her we need to use too much powder ( to make my skin look fairer). And they all laughed . Plus I wasn't selected either.
Apart from India, the rest of Asia is also ridiculously obsessed with fairer skin tones. Where I'm from (Singapore), many skincare products marketed at women often use words like "fairer", "brighter" or just straight up "white", with fair-skinned models used to match these descriptors. This needs to stop - people with darker skin tones are also beautiful and should be celebrated, not condemned.
I have a fair skin which gets tanned very easily. My relatives used to remind me all the time that “a fair person can have an eye missing and would still be considered prettier than a dusky person ” so that I won’t go outside.
@silazophia I don't know about yours but sunscreen do wonders for my skin though but it's also about how much skin you're exposing to the sun. If someone fully covers the face and body before stepping out in the sun so one can avoid being tanned. In India, people who are living in extremely hot climate..they use to cover their skin in sunny days to avoid being tanned and getting heat strokes so along with sunscreen, one should also avoid sun exposure.
India mai they literally call it 'saaf rang' (clean colour). It translates to if you're darker, you're dirtier. This has a lot to do with caste system too, and women adhering to western beauty or Indian fair beauty standards are preferred. It's so bad that I had a hard time talking to fairer people because I was intimidated by them. My own family does it. I tried to explain to my mother too, and she's dark herself but she said if two people with exact same features stood in front of her and one was dark and the other was fair, she would choose the fair. I can't blame her, she's been influenced by the society. We need to start at the base level, instill in little children that being dark is ok.
How come caste comes into this ? As far as I know and have seen fair skin and dark skin exist in all caste . If you look old Indian pictures of women even the higher caste women too used to be black . Now it's not the case . Rarely you will see any higher caste women or children as black . I used to have this notion that all Brahmins ( higher caste ) are fair and rich until I saw a family where they were black and poor 🤨 If it was caste influence how come other countries have this same issues . Except for India other countries don't have caste system .
All types of skin tones must be treated equally. I myself being a fair toned indian girl have noticed that many school teachers and people treat me differently and more politely than the brown kids. I personally feel bad for them and wish that they were treated equally. We all our humans, not fair-skinned or dark-skinned. We may appear different but are same from the inside right.

What matters is the beauty of your heart, don't forget that. Being happy does not depend on things like skin color. Love yourself and accept yourself as you are.
Finally some one similar this guys believe all fair skin indian are using bleaching or some cream this is not fair at all and they think they are the victim here lol, most people when they think of indian people its mostly dark skin one and us fair skin people are discarded.
Skin tone discrimination happen in Latin America too but since we have more diversity because our ancestors are from many countries difference are more visible India have more homogeneous population so I thought this things happen less.
India has homogeneous population??????? LOL You have zero clue about India, huh? From north to south and from west to east Indian people range from very very fair to almost charcoal black, and caucasian features to african to mongoloid features.
India is not very homogeneous. Geographic location plays a major factor in skin tone and you can find a variety of distinct ethnic groups where it’s very much like Latin America in terms of looks, skin tone, etc…
I think India is much less homogenous than Latin America to be honest. The native population has gone through several admixtures over the last 6000 years ever since the Iranian Pastoralists, then Central Asian Aryans, Indus Valley Civilization, Ancient South Asians, etc. Latin America has had indigenous groups for much of this history and European conquest/slaves have only really happened the past 500 years. Not to mention, if you go to South India or Northeast India, ethnicities literally change (Dravidian, Sino-Tibetan, etc). People don't even speak the same language branches in these areas either
It is true. I am just a teenager but my own family judges and taunts me on my complexion . Honestly I am neither fair nor dark . I am in between. When I use to attend swimming classes my complexion darkened , they started pointing in way of taunting me that I got darkened and ugly. But during covid when my complexion was somewhat fair they called me white lizard. I don't know why Indians are obsessed with having fair skin . I do agree with the guy . But the boys in my family have really dark complexion no one says a word . I just feel like no one should be bullied or judged for their skintone whatever it may be
I just wonder what goes inside the head of those people who think that they have the need to judge someone on the basis of their skin color or their appearance??... I mean, they should just chill and let people feel comfortable in their own skin. Because you're beautiful no matter your skin color.
I once saw this Indian girl buying from a 7/11 store back in the Philippines It was the first time I had seen someone with a perfect brown skin. She was shining literally shining her skin was so smooth I couldn't take my eyes off of her I think she was the most beautiful woman I had ever laid my eyes on and I'm a heterosexual woman by the way. I don't know what they have to change to look fairer
This is a big problem in Philippines as well but also in other countries where people are more darker wants to have brighter skin. It’s just a tragic mindset, especially when people preaching out that you should be happy how you are born and to be proud of your skin heritage. But lots of people are still blinded by the society and media that bleaching will make you more beautiful and earn more respect.
I had a friend in my neighborhood who wanted fair skin very much. She used all those whitening creams and also applied honey and aloe vera on her skin and stuff. But someday i had told her that my type was tan girls and just yesterday i asked her if her insecurity about her skin tone had lessened or not. And she told me that she was no more insecure because there are guys who like tan and darker skin tones because i said that
No you don’t need to bleach or whiten your skin. Please don’t. You are amazing just how you are. No need to change anything about yourself, seriously.

@@nothere3982 what caste culture ? Could you elaborate ?
@@Mira-pm3nialong with colonialism it has a deep historic reason, dark skinned people are always from poor class/lower caste in countries with both fair and dark skin tones specially in South Asia as people with low caste/class did more hardwork and farming than upper class who was rich, didn't do hardwork, got education and lived peacefully, that's why most dark skinned people tend to be poor, prone to br criminals, uneducated, belong to poor family and be shorter, uglier because their poor ancestors were more prone to famines thus giving them bad genes.

Yes i agree. I am mixed half keralite half west african. I never faced any discrimination in kerala except some curious questions. My wife is also from kerala
I think thats because of it has mostly dark skinned people

@@someone-qu7hm No you are wrong, an average Malayali is fairer than an average UP wala or Bihari.
Only Lower Castes are Dravidian looking, rest all are very different in looks. Muslims in Northern districts look more fair than even North Indians due to Arab genes. Upper caste christians have Syrian genes and Brahmins, Nairs etc has Indo Aryan genes. Kerala and Tulu Nadu region of Karnataka are odd one out in South India for this very reason.
Nayanthara, the Queen of Tamil Cinema is a Syrian Christian from Kerala and you can see that her features do not match with other Indians especially average Tamilian or Telugu person. Honey Rose is another examples. Mammootty, Dulquer Salmaan, Tovino Thomas, check the faces of Mallus and you can compare them with Tamil or Telugu or Kannada celebrities, you will see how different they look from other South Indians and even Biharis and UP walas...

The only different people I found was Punjabis, Himachalis, Uttarakhand people, Haryanvis and Kashmiris. Rest all are like Us only. Kashmiris are the most fairest followed by Punjabis.
As a fair skin Indian women who has to work a lot under the sun sometimes, I know the difference of how I get treated when I get really tanned.
Their skin color looks so smooth and beautiful
I have stopped thinking like this. The only thing we need to take care of is to keep our skin healthy. People with shining dark skin of African or Caribbean descent look so good. That is also something we can aim for.
It's never about the skin colour...
Beautiful people always treated better than ugly peoples....
It breaks my heart knowing that there are so many people out there who were raised thinking that they were less than because of their skin tone/colour
Imagine being a grown adult who is entrusted with teaching children and then beefing with one just because they have a dark skin tone
Where I grew up everyone wanted to have a darker skin. I was occasionally mocked for being too pale. I don't like it either, it makes me look quite sickly. But I've come to terms with it. Your skin tone is beautiful! Don't forget that someone on the other side of the planet wants to look like you.
I guess that's more of a woman issue. I don't see any man bleach. But for women it's a huge deal. It's so horribly disgusting to put someone down because of their skin and even more so when you bully or influence little children with that
haha cuz women are judged solely by their appearance
I have seen men bleach. Just look at many men in Bollywood industry.
Completely agree
Indeed..
No its not lmao
Indians men have the most % of discrimination among all males races along with asian

Brown skin is the most beautiful in my opinion and melanin is literally worth more than gold. This is coming from someone who has naturally very light skin
There's a reason why we still have such a high gluta consumption and wide array of non fda approved whitening products . Even many of those with chinese descent take gluta. The "dugyot/yagit", "negra/itom" and "can't see anything but your teeth" comments still exist today, although lesser than before.
Even all their beauty contestants have to be lighter than the average fillipina or mixed white race
thats stupid if i make a filipina prego baby gonna come out darker if she hides her true coloe you cant hide it
I have been bullied verbally by my teachers so many times.I remember one time we were auditioning for a play & I did great. But one of my teacher told that if we take her we need to use too much powder ( to make my skin look fairer). And they all laughed .
Plus I wasn't selected either.
Remember that you are beautiful. God made you the way you are. In another country they would call you beautiful and exotic!
@@anisakalloe3247 I agree
Wow those teachers are really disgusting, don't listen to those stupid people because you are beautiful
As a woman who has fair skin, I always wanted to be darker. We should all learn to embrace who we are and see the beauty in every skin colour.
Why
Apart from India, the rest of Asia is also ridiculously obsessed with fairer skin tones. Where I'm from (Singapore), many skincare products marketed at women often use words like "fairer", "brighter" or just straight up "white", with fair-skinned models used to match these descriptors. This needs to stop - people with darker skin tones are also beautiful and should be celebrated, not condemned.
The dark skin looks beautiful. Anyhow Bollywood is racist .. sg
@@MichiganUSASingaporeSEAsiaYou should say "The dark skin also looks beautiful" instead !!
I have a fair skin which gets tanned very easily. My relatives used to remind me all the time that “a fair person can have an eye missing and would still be considered prettier than a dusky person ” so that I won’t go outside.
LOL...if you don't wanna get tanned, just apply sunscreen no, it also protects our skin from direct UV rays..as simple as that 🤷🏻♀️
@silazophia I don't know about yours but sunscreen do wonders for my skin though but it's also about how much skin you're exposing to the sun. If someone fully covers the face and body before stepping out in the sun so one can avoid being tanned. In India, people who are living in extremely hot climate..they use to cover their skin in sunny days to avoid being tanned and getting heat strokes so along with sunscreen, one should also avoid sun exposure.
That is always a terrible shame because all these women are beautiful
I used to have this notion that all Brahmins ( higher caste ) are fair and rich until I saw a family where they were black and poor 🤨
If it was caste influence how come other countries have this same issues .
Yes i agree. But when you are a 6'6 half african half south indian guy They also treat you good. 😂
Such sweet girls, so resilient to taunts and discrimination, they are strong!
Heartbreaking. Indian people are amazing.
If people won't change, the law and media should initiate
True, Teachers ALSO Discrimates us students based on the skin colour (not every teacher but many)... I Went through that in class 4th, 6th, 8th and that shattered my self confidence cuz i was just a child back then when i didnt knew what i did ao wrong to be treated so badly and rudely. But as i grew up and left the previous school, i REALISED that nothing was my fault, but the teacher was wrong.

The accent they make fun of is always heavily exaggerated lol

I have fair skin and not from India. The only thing I can say is that it doesn't really matter what color your skin is. If you have fair skin, you don't get anything or you don't win any awards.

LOL
You have zero clue about India, huh?
From north to south and from west to east Indian people range from very very fair to almost charcoal black, and caucasian features to african to mongoloid features.
India is not very homogeneous. Geographic location plays a major factor in skin tone and you can find a variety of distinct ethnic groups where it’s very much like Latin America in terms of looks, skin tone, etc…
India is homogenous by regions, I would say. Like particular parts, but as a whole country there is a variety of colours and tones
@@tyshadonyxs2008 Some parts of India are very diverse. Almost like Brazil.
omg they are all gorgeous!!
And she told me that she was no more insecure because there are guys who like tan and darker skin tones because i said that
Thats so sweet and good heart u have
So sweet of you
No you don’t need to bleach or whiten your skin. Please don’t. You are amazing just how you are. No need to change anything about yourself, seriously.
I was once a kid in school and everyone bullied me for being white. Even the teacher joined in and didn’t stop the continuous bullying. I was literally so young, i didn’t know how to react to that situation so i just let them do it. 🤷
Fake tan or a real tan is viewed as healthy though even if the person is fair skinned.
I'm already quite fair but because of these fairness ads even I wanted to use these creams but my mom never let me. Thanks mom

When we go back to India, there are so many comments about my son’s skin color- who he took after and why is is dark, why is he being ‘allowed’ out in the sun!
