    Awesome video, thanks. Might i ask, what was your reason for changing it?

    Will probably be ok but. Pre mix fuel- leave oil line disconnected, run to test “no-oil” feature. Connect oil line verify alarm stops. Top off oil tank and mark level to verify oil usage before returning to straight fuel. Just sayin it might save you a powerhead.

      Yes. Its was formerly called VRO then in the early 90s the name changed to OMS (oil metering system)

    Thanks for the video.I broke down today off the shore line .trouble shooted and found that (I THINK THE FUEL PUMP IS GOING BAD) couldn't keep it running took a wrench and hit it a few times to get it going.is that possible Is that my pump going out?

      @cfauvel 7 лет назад +1

      it depends on the fuel pump in question. If like the OP then NO, banging it is NOT going to get it going...it is not an electric pump it is a mechanical pump that runs off of the engine's (lower cylinder actually) pulses as the cylinder goes up and down.

    hi, I have 1997 225 evirude. if i dont started withing 4-5 days it wont start or very hard to start. can someone help with this issue? thank you

      There is a proper start procedure .....pump the primer bulb until it is hard....then with the key in the ON position...push in to activate the primer solenoid, for about 3-4 seconds....that will dump fuel directly behind the carbs effectively acting like a choke.....then turn the key to the start position AND hold in the key to key priming via the solenoid....once the engine catches keep holding the key IN until it starts to die then let go....
      in the step where you are cranking the engine you can push the throttle up a little bit whilst in neutral.

    My 1990 Johnson VRO 200hp engine won't go passed 2000 rpm sits had a recent tune up with new spark plugs, fuel filter, oils, fuel lines, prime bulbs. Spark and compression were good and so were the carbs. It's fires right up and runs but won't go passed 2000rpm. Any suggestions?

      Did you ever solve your problem

    • @cfauvel
      @cfauvel 7 лет назад

      you need to test compression first to rule out a broken cylinder , then you'll need a digital mulitmeter and DVA adapter to fully test the ignition system.
      A couple of things could be your issue
      1 - broken or loose magnets in the flywheel
      2 - a failing stator (how does the tachometer and re-charge of the battery work? if wonky then either the stator or regulator)

    I just got a call today about the cost of repairs on my 1999 Evinrude 115hp Scout. I was shocked when the repairman said that it would cost me 1100.00 parts and labor to replace the fuel pump which he said was only providing 16 psi. I have a feeling that this is excessive. I would appreciate any comments.

    Looks good except you ran w/o water. Your water pump is now damaged. Just 5 seconds is enough to start degrading the impeller. Can you post a video of what the impeller looks like now? Would be a great lesson for everyone.

      marysawkwardlife I'd have to rewatch the video to verify if I ran it without water... but two years later and hundreds of hours and the pump is still going. I'll probably change it this season, since I already have have the parts.... it's on the list! lol

    This guy is a parts changer. Not a real mechanic to properly diagnose a problem. He just starts changing parts and guessing it might be the problem.... I seen him changing just about everything on this motor. Lol......
