    I still love Don's movies. I have to put on Black Belt every few months, that final fight in the gym is the definition of awesome! Die Trying is another great one. I love watching Don mix it up with Gary Daniels! Getting to see two of my favorite action heroes go toe-to-toe in their prime is a real treat.

    Don "The Dragon" Wilson's fight with Dennis Alexio tells a lot about his talent .Dennis threw everything into the fight - was way aggressive ,way powerful yet Don defeated him. Tells a lot how technically sound he was

      Agreed.

    • @gwencrawford737
      @gwencrawford737 2 месяца назад

      That definitely wasn't any kind of a 'cheap victory'. Not only did Dennis swarm him... the fact of the matter is... Don was sick with the flu, and even with that, still fought a smart fight, and a well paced fight, so that when he DID spend energy, he got a return on investment for everything he threw.
      A boxing judge would've given Don points for "Ring Generalship".
      You'd THINK Dennis would've gotten points for aggression... but really, whether or not that was 'effective' aggression is debatable.
      Don's aggression was definitely 'effective aggression' because when he threw and landed, it was a big plus for him and a big negative for Dennis.
      I only saw a couple of points where Dennis had the upper hand.
      The rest of the time, Don was just shoveling coal, and incrementally taking the fight away from Dennis.
      Neither man had anything to hang their heads about at the final bell...
      End of the day, Don just showed WHY he's the champion... and Dennis put up quite a strong challenge.
      It was a great fight to watch!

    Yeah, his brother Jimmy taught him Pai Lum Kung Fu. As I understand it, Jimmy, who was 50lbs lighter but older, had Don tell him that his boxing skills could beat his Kung Fu. Jimmy accepted the challenge and won. At least that was how a Black Belt magazine article told it back in the day. Don would have to verify this.

    I like Don big time, for I even mentioned over at MMA Bleacher Reports that in all of combat sports that I got Don over Jon Jones as the goat with Don having won multiple titles in various kickboxing divisions & with Don's consistent abilty to throw kicks from either foot resulting in knock outs that if it came down to it, he would have beat Jon Jones. After all, all fights start on the feet & I do believe Don's fluidity as a kickboxer & pin point precision in his punches & kicks would have ko/tko Jones before Jones could use any of his wrestling. When Jones fought Lyoto the dragon Machida, Lyoto had Jones reeling in that 1st round & made the mistake in not bombarding Jones with a blitz of punches like he did with Rashad Evans to become the lhw UFC champ & based on Don's killer instinct in the ring, Don would have landed the kill shot since Don's killer instinct was second to no one & well above Lyoto, even though, I'm a Lyoto fan as well. And as the character Mason Storm portrayed by Seagal in "Hard to Kill" said, "You can take that to the fucking blood bank!" Lol!

    This is why Bruce Lee didn't like styles or "labels". Most fighters back then fought and learned as they went along, picking up things from other competitors and people they meet. You can watch Don and see what he's trained in. Nothing he's said has surprised me. Even Lee didn't bother practicing Tae Kwon Do as his base was Wing Chun, instead he trained and sparred with Jhoon Rhee and Chuck Norris. It's the way it was. So few things had a traceable lineage back then as nobody cared so long as it worked, here in America. The lineage stuff came later when real schools wanted to differentiate from the hodge podge of Mc Dojos.

    • @johndough8115
      @johndough8115 2 месяца назад

      Dude, All Competent Martial Artists throughout HISTORY, have been Cross Training. Where do you think Wing Chun got its Technology? From arts like Tai Chi (look at Push hands, and see the similar training in Tai Chi push hand drills). There was ALWAYS important placed on Lineages! Especially in the Chinese Arts. However, it was also expected, that as a fighter, you would learn about other arts methods (know your Enemy), as well as to continually Grow and Advance in Depth and Skillsets. This is all "Common Sense" stuff. Even Yipman himself, asked his students "How do you know that Im teaching you REAL Wing Chun?". His Question was intended to make the students Realize, that they should never blindly trust anything... and to always test things for themselves. That includes, for example... learning other Wing Chun lineage's differences. And the thing is... Yipman himself, had at least 2 different known WC teachers. One that taught him a very Hard-Style version... and one that taught him a more advanced version, that better suited his smaller and weaker body size.
      The Combat Arts in general, were already long since Degrading... when the Industrial Revolution era hit, as people no longer could train +8hrs a day... as they needed to work a fulltime job to survive. Degradation also Accelerated, due to Firearms being easily available to the masses. There was also Govt. / Elite created Degradations and Corruptions... For example... with the Japanese govt. banning the Samurai from carrying their Swords out in Public. China's Modern Day Commies, banned ALL practice of the combat arts... for like +60 years, before eventually lifting the ban (pretty recently).
      So realize, that Lee was born into the Era, where China's bans had only recently had been lifted... and Kung Fu practitioners and teachers... were a shell of their former state. Even Yipman had to make changes, simplifying the the "Long" Forms, and reducing the Training Intensity... to make things easier and quicker.. else he would have lost too many potential students.
      Yet Lee was at very least, in China... and the Chinese arts had been practiced in secret, during the commie revolution period... so they did not get as Degraded as the other Combat arts had. As such, when Lee traveled to the USA... he was seeing the result of vastly Corrupted and Sportized arts did, to Barefist Combat effectiveness. He was easily able to exploit these fighters.. with only a very small bit of Wing Chun technology and training.
      As for Lee, like any other busy artists... he learned what he could, from whatever sources he had available. In his case, finding other fighters to spar and cross train with. He also was known to try to Bribe Senior students from Chinese and or other Martial Arts schools... to get special knowledge and training methods from them... without having to endure decades of training time.. spent within these various schools. Since he had a pretty good Base Foundation, it wasnt hard for him to pick up other arts methods... and to master them fairly quickly (especially due to his extreme work ethics).
      The Term McDojo, is a very Dumb term.. usually spoken by the very Ignorant youth. Its rarely the Dojo that is the issue. Its mostly the Poor Quality, LAZY, students... that are the blame for their own failures. They try something and it fails... and immediately claim "ITS BS!". When instead, it actually failed, because 1) You never developed the proper body attributes and 2) Because you never fully Mastered any of it. With 3) You are using said techs, it in the wrong situations... to begin with. I could go on and on...
      I used to have a few Private students myself. I stressed exactly how critical it was, to fully master things.. and how they NEEDED to train hard inside of classes... as well as to train OUTSIDE of classes. Yet, I could EASILY tell that none of then did ANY training outside of my classes. Like the saying goes "You can lead a Horse to water... but you cant make it Drink it". The students would eventually get angered at me, when I refused to teach them anything New... but I was teaching one of the students something different. I told them, that I was teaching this person something new... because they had actually Mastered everything else. Where as they, themselves... were still struggling with the basics... and were making ZERO progression, due to their own Laziness. But even this, was not enough to Shame them into working harder. Instead, I eventually stopped teaching... because it wasnt worth it to me. Why waste my time and energy on dudes that will never even make it to my own level of potentials.. let alone, be able to Surpass me (due to me making the path even quicker and easier, because of my own decades of hard fought knowledge and skills).
      Let me tell you... I was not a Cream puff as far as training goes, either. I had a one hour hardcore Core workout, for each class... and each class was typically at least 2hrs long... and could extend far longer, depending on how everyone was holding up. I was like a Drill Sargent, and was very strict. But again, I can only bark out Orders. I cant force you, for example... to put in 110%. If you choose to hit the sandbags with 40%... I might know by the sound of it... but even if I know... I cant make you hit harder, nor can I make sure that you maintain that level of output... for the entire drill / day.
      Lees, lightning fast Mastery.. was not really because of what he was learning / learned.. but mostly, because Lee ALWAYS put in 110%, in everything, and in every second... of his training efforts. And, he trained at that intensity... +8hrs, every single day.
      Many today, would call Yipman's old school.. a McDojo, if they had watched some footage of one of the classes. Yet, if any of them had tried to strike the Elder Yipman... they would all be easily, and Quickly, Dispatched. In fact, Yipman has a proven History of fighting with Criminal Thugs, on the streets of Hong Kong... as he used to be a sort of Police Man / Detective. Furthermore, many would not consider Lee to be a pushover... Yet, would they acknowledge the so called "Mc Dojo" of Yipman... that developed Lees skill so well ?
      Not every School... especially today.. is going to have all of the Answers. But that doesnt mean, that everything it teaches, is Garbage / Useless / Fake...etc.
      And many schools which pride themselves on mostly being Tougher.. often are still learning a very Simplified and Watered down version of Fighting. In fact, often far Less effective combat knowledge... than the so called McDojo schools.
      So, Again.. Its not the schools that are the main issue today. Its the lack of Passionate students, that are willing to train long enough, intense enough, and to fully Master everything (or ANYTHING at all for that matter...) that they learn.

I can send you more links how Piotrowski look like now. Can you ask Don Dragon if he knows about his health problems? I'm sure Don Dragon remember the guy who beat him.

      Here is interview with World Kickboxing Champion - Marek Piotrowski, the guy who beat Don Dragon and Rick Rufous.
      ruclips.net/video/X254ZHI9hBg/видео.htmlsi=mqZ74C5H9WDtsWta .It begins with highlights before fight against Don Dragon, then how Marek speaks with his disease. As you can see the interview was filmed 15 years ago, now his disease is getting deeper and much worse. Please ask Don Dragon about his thoughts on Marek Piotrowski. I'll be really grateful for that.

    And VS maybe you can get Seagal to do ride along w/ you someday & he might tell you how it was on Above the Law when he held on to the roof of the car, punched through the window & choked out the bad guy like the Terminator especially since Seagal also had the black leather jacket! Lol

    I saw your fight David - the whole thing was a joke - as in the platform and the rules. You NEED to speak to Streetbeefs, win some real fights and then start calling out bigger opponents.

      It was a good fight, but the ring card girls could have been hotter.
