Just found your channel and I am enjoying it! I really loved this advice. I just laughed when you named fencing because it's so true!! When your fencing isn't secure, it's like a thorn you can't get out because it usually causes trouble until it's fixed! We have one section of fence to go, and ours will be top notch for at least some time. We have a Jurassic Bull, and he's a trouble maker. I also really liked your advice on only growing what you will eat. Not much is more disheartening than spending time growing, tending and preserving something your family won't eat. Looking forward to watching and looking forward to more!

Your fence rule made think of a few years ago when my ducks got through poor fencing and ate all of my broccoli and cauliflower in one day (we only eat these from the garden when in season ☹️). Lesson learnt!

Good fences make good neighbors” is from a poem by Robert Frost's poem Mending Wall and is so true. Where we live chickens run everywhere and if you do not have a good fence to keep them out they can destroy seedlings and plants so easily. I agree with point 2 100%.

Point number two has been my starting out errors - I need something bullet proof in Tasmania!

It seems every homesteading RUclipsr has a story about some tragedy that could've been prevented with good fencing, whether it's a significant loss of a crop or losing a poultry flock, so I think having good fencing is definitely underrated. Makes me think that when I eventually make the move out of the city I'm going to have to build Fort Knox to avoid joining that club!

So so wise. I think this advice transcends homesteading, but rings true in many aspects of life!

Gday mate, really liked the video! Small thing tho is that Jews don’t call ourselves Hebrews and don’t rlly like folks modern day calling us it either. Shabbat also isn’t about relaxation or ceasing from “work” (it’s a poor translation of melachot) at all and many Shabbatot can be quite stressful.

No offense intended, but I wasn't thinking of modern people at the time, I was thinking of the ancients...who were known as Hebrews. Don't want to start an argument - but if your Shabbatot are stressful, I think you missing out on a great deal!

Its is not easy with a relatively small space if you are building to plant fruit Trees, where building materials are everywhere. For the rest i can find you in your words 👍

you are wrong about the horse - get your fencing right.
l have one brumby who poops 12 times a day - that stuff is gold and the main ingredient to my compost.
last summer l had to be careful
wattle leaves an fresh horse manure create a very hot compost - not good in summer on fire ban days.

Someone in this family is benefiting immensely from the capitalist system, and well done indeed. Realism must be somewhere outside the farm gate as 99% of Ozzies are not going to be able to realize this goal/achievement. But good on you for showing us how people with more money than they deserve can spend lots of time making improvements to the world.

You think money is the secret? Yes you can create a homestead simply by throwing money around, but that isn't self reliance...it's cheating! We have done it the old fashioned way - effort across time...with a below average income. Don't know about your 99% - but the vast majority of people CAN do this IF they are prepared to work for it.
