    No heat. No chemicals. Just a headband and some beauty rest to achieve these curls. Oh, and some DermOrganic Fast Dry Shaping Spray.
    You can pull this look off with wet/dry hair, depending on how thick your hair is and how long it usually takes to air dry.

    Just a tip: I have done this before with wet hair and in the morning my hair was still wet. It never dried because it was wrapped around the headband. I hope you find this helpful! :)

    I love doing this! If you're looking for more a wavy curl, like the ones you get using a curling wand, try twisting the sections toward your face before wrapping it.

      I bought wood 5 years ago that had a class on it. You just pulled a clasp apart in the morning that way you can slide it right out of the curls. Otherwise it's so difficult to unwind your hair.
      If anyone knows where they sell the kind with the clasp on it and what they're calling it please let me know ❤️

    I've done this a few times this week as an attempt to find a good way to style my long hair after night showers, especially when I want to avoid waking others with a blow dryer. My technique has not resulted in a look with the headband that is quite as polished as the one in the video but it works great anyway. Only tip is damp hair works with this but wet hair does not dry or set correctly. The results have genuinely been so pretty!! I will definitely continue to use this method.

    I have hair that typically doesn't hold any type of curl, but I've done this every day this week and it has worked pretty miraculously well. I wash and blow-dry my hair and wrap it up right before bed completely dry and it holds all day. I've gotten a ton of compliments on it too. It's awesome!

    As a person who wants to curl up the hair just for the sake of holding the hair up, this is very helpful as any common hairbands easily slip off and loosened, defeated by silky straight hair. Getting a curl by this process is a bonus point and most importantly the process does not appear hideous unlike having mini rolls all over the head

    When i had thinner shorter hair it didnt work but it did worked when my hair became thicker and longer and also (best work when hair is unwashed/unshampooed that day) because i found that the natural oils in my hair kept my curls longer lasting and less tangled

      Germaine Lim any tricks you done in getting hair thicker?

    • @magictay
      @magictay 7 лет назад +1

      I have very think and very long hair so I do mine in two sections. Basically I pull up the top half of my hair into a clip and doe the headband trick to the bottom part of my hair first. Then I repeat with the rest of my hair. If you use a comb to smooth each section each time you wrap it around you will have better results with less tangles. I also have to start with damp hair because if it's really wet it will never dry by morning.

    I tried this last night and it is amazing! I was pretty skeptical that it would actually work and that the band would stay in over night. My hair is a few centimetres shorter and a lot thicker, and the finished result looks like big retro curls. sprayed with a little hairspray and it's held all day. Really impressed - definitely worth trying!

    Tried this last night with my waist length hair, turned out pretty good! Saves me one hr of trying to do it with a curling wand! The ones at the front came out much more like ringlets, whereas the hair at the back were more like loose waves. Still an overall beautiful look though. Didnt have to much trouble getting it out of the headband, took only about 5 mins, just have to go SLOW!

    I rlly like this method. I used to use rollers with pins. Rollers are so uncomfortable to sleep in,and the pins felt like needles on my head. The rollers curls don't even last tue whole day. This method is so much easier and more comfortable to sleep in. The rollers take too long to put on, because I have very thick hair. The headband curls were rlly pretty, and stayed in all day!

    I use a really thin stretchy headband, and I always twist the hair as I do it. It's actually a pretty cool hairstyle for formal summer stuff if you weave in flowers, and make sure to use a headband close to your own haircolour for formal.

  • @TheHarlequinade
    @TheHarlequinade 11 лет назад

    Mine is too but I modified this to make it work for me. You can use a thinner headband, section your hair into smaller sections and pull them a little tighter around the band. In the morning it'll be really crazy and curly when you take of the band but they fall out a little after an hour and look really good :)

    I have really thick and layered hair, and I used 3 head bands; this will give you huge body, but if you use 2 head bands its not as big. I sectioned my hair off as if i were to straighten it. I put bobby pins to hold the head band in place while I sleep. And I also flip the part of the head band that is going over my face to the back of my head, just so I don't have lines on my face when I wake up. Hope this helps.

  • @tradesecretsCA
    @tradesecretsCA  12 лет назад

    You can definitely use a scrunching gel or hairspray before you wrap your hair around. Try Sebastian Shaper. And I'd recommend drying your hair a bit more before you wrap your hair around the headband. If you notice your hair is still wet after sleeping on it, run a blow dryer on it before you remove the headband.

  • @tradesecretsCA

    Exactly! Only try this with damp hair if it tends to have trouble holding a style.

  • @tradesecretsCA

    Exactly. Try it again and make sure all strands are wrapped around tightly. You may have to move the hair forward to make space for the strands in the back.

    haha yeaa totally try this out, i was doing this for a while like three times a week and it looked like i spent AGES on my hair, i would just loosen the curls a bit while the band was in it so the curls are looser when they come out, i think it also makes it easier if you have some layers going on in your hair, unfortunately this method can also be a bit unpredictable for results so not recommended if you can't stand chancing it.

    You can apply some product in your hair, like mousse or hairspray. Make sure you're able to properly wrap the back around the headband. You can also try wearing the headband during the day before a night out instead of sleeping with it on. If you sleep on your back, this could potentially cause the style not to hold there.

  • @tradesecretsCA
    @tradesecretsCA  12 лет назад

    The back is the hardest part to wrap. Ensure that it's tightly wrapped around the band. You may have to push sections of hair to the front of the band to make more room. Try this on damp hair as it tends to hold styles better. And use some product in your hair before and after you wrap it around the headband, like a holding spray. Try: Big Sexy Hair Spray & Play or AG Spray Body.

    You can totally rock your hair wrapped in a headband, especially if it has a nice design or pattern!

    it works with damp or dry hair. I would suggest damp because it helps to make the curls last longer, however don't do this when your hair is really wet, it might not dry and the curls won't work!

    I think making room on the headband by pushing hair forward is a great tip for making space for strands in the back. Thanks for sharing.

    True. Give this technique a try and get the curls you want without any damage from heat styling.

    Yes, it works on towel-dried damp hair. And if your hair has trouble holding curls, it's recommended that you try this with damp hair.

    Thank you soooo much for uploading this!! I use it almost everyday. I have short hair, but it needs to be wet for me to do this...

    Practice makes perfect. When you get to the back of your hair, ensure that you only lift the headband a certain amount so you don't unravel the entire thing. Try pushing the hair forward around the headband to make more space for the back of your hair.

    This technique can work with a variety of headbands. However, if you use one that's really tight on your head, you run the risk of seeing an imprint of the headband. My advice would be to use a headband that has some sort of cloth over the elastic band part. Hope this helps!

    lool omg the first time for me was freaky too
    i have a section on the band in the back without much hair wrapped around it where the halves meet. while ur looking in the mirror grab that part of the band and pull it out to the side/back so u can see what ur doing and then carefully grab the end of the strands with ur other hand and loop outwards.. so grab from the inside and flip out, do this separately for each side of ur head
    just go slow, makes things so much easier

    put your curling iron on the highest heat then hold the curling iron in your actual hair for more longer than you usually do it. then right after you curled that one curl hairspray it or put mousse into in or put Mousse into your hair first then curl it. hope this helped.
