    If this Jelena can be lucky or error free all time, she can be really dangerous. She has very strong backhand-forehand that can make anyone can only watch the ball rolling

    One of the best WTA matches I have seen. It had real pace and aggression with little in the way of unforced errors. The score was close and it was not one sided. Good luck Jelena in the final.

    Jelena is special. She is brave and has some talents. One thing i am worried about is her body. She might be vulnerable of waist injury. Hope she keeps healthy and achieve some career!

    Collins surprised me today. I did not know her at all, but she has powerful strikes and she moves pretty well for a newbie. I don't know if she could have win the match, but the first set was hers. But she opened the door to Ostapenko who gladly entered and won the first set. And when you give confidence to a powerful-striker like Ostapenko, there is almost nothing you can do because she will not make mistakes and continue hitting winners, either with the forehand or the backhand. I hope Collins builds up her future career on what she has done here in Miami because she has great potential. And I pick Ostapenko as the winner of this tournament.

      I had never seen/heard of Collins and then I saw her play in Indian Wells and was impressed by her game/tenacity. She's really improving and coming into her own. She made Osto work for this one. Great tournament for Collins. She keeps playing like this and her ranking is going to keep going up and she'll be winning a lot more matches.

    This new coach for Ostapenko has done a great job. You hear him saying to Ostapenko to mix up her pace, which has done wonders for her. For a period she was trying to hit every shot like a winner. Also she said in the interview she has been working on controlling her emotions. I definitely see a difference.

      newmennium I could also say that Danielle Collins is arrogant, because of the cold way of looking into her eyes (or if she does not look at the way she greeted and looked at Venus Williams when she won, look a dry look, bitter and without desire) Danielle Collins lost because she is very temperamental, when a tennis player is like that, believe me everything goes wrong, if you don't control your emotions, it is a total disaster in her game and that will take its toll on her every time she plays against tennis players of the stature of Ostapenko. Ostapenko may be arrogant, but she is working on controlling her arrogance and temper inside of the tennis court, this added to the fact that she was the one who hit much stronger and pushing her game to the extreme to make Collins uncomfortable. I would rather say that she won with intelligence, with precision and aggression. I said, period! 😉🎾👍🏻

    Collins sure well proved the commentator wrong when she overpowered and outhit Osapenko to get set point in the first set. After that miss on set point she played oh so slightly more defensive which cost her the match but of course it is very hard physically and mentally to sustain that aggressive play. So I hope what she takes from that week that this aggressive game will lift her to the top of the game if she can sustain it and puts in the very hard work in training to make that happen and stays injury free.

  • @cambium0
    @cambium0 6 лет назад +3

    Earlier in these highlights there was a point where Ostapenko was basically not even having to move because Collins was hitting everything right back at her, so it was like a shooting gallery...meanwhile collins was being run to each corner of the court. I guess she was scared to hit an angled shot, fearing the winner that would come back. But you can't let them off the hook, got to keep making your opponent run, at least. Down the line should have been the shot on what turned out to be match point. Ostapenko was already running to cover the corner and yet collins hit there anyway ... weary at the end of a tough match I guess. At this point Ostapenko was in complete control, she knew Collins would do the obvious and not take any more risks so she could anticipate her easily and it was all gravy for Ostapenko.
