    Great video! I was in Cairns for 6 days in late June 2017 and loved it! Beautiful area and well worth exploring and driving around. Cape Tribulation area was my favorite.

      That particular waterfall is called Josephine Falls, about 1 hours drive south of Cairns

    With the crocodile shows they usually have someone on hand with a rifle in case something goes wrong and the croc gets hold of the trainer. I used to live in Darwin and whenever we went to the croc park there would be someone on hand with a .308

    There are beaches with a stinger net so jelly fish aren’t a problem. No one said freshie crocs are safe. They can give a bite if they feel threatened.

    We’ve been living in Cairns for 4 months now. Babinda Boulders has definitely been a huge highlight of all the places we’ve been! Yet to go to the falls you can slide down (Josephine I think) but planning on it before we leave next month! We have a bat that hangs around our veranda at night, freaked us out at first, but there’s that many we’re a little used to them now though. Great overview of Cairns!

      You're pretty brave to go to the boulders. There is a legend about the boulders aka The Devi's Pool and death that comes to new people who swim there. 17 people many men have died there thus far.... Ask a locals about the legend. Josephine Fall is great but be careful as people have been known to hurt themselves from sliding down the rocks or swimming after a storm.

    Best part of Australia with no winters & rainforest mountains .. it’s full on hard core tropical , so ironically it’s more like Asia or Hawaii..

      We are going to Cairns this September and planning to do diving in GBR. We don't have any experience in open water diving although were pretty good swimmers. What do we need to do the scuba diving? or any requirements needed? thanks

    If you guys ever visit Cairns again put Frankland Islands on your bucket list! Best place to swim with Turtles and see loads of other marine life :) Our paradise is just 40 minutes south of Cairns :)

    Glad that you made it to my country , which is the only country in the last 132 years to win the old America`s Cup. On 26 September 1983, the yacht Australia II made history when the oldest sporting trophy in the world, the America’s Cup, was wrested from the Americans after 132 years.

    What company did you rent a car with?

  • @jjaus
    @jjaus 7 лет назад +5

    Excess is not insurance. It's the gap (what you Yanks call deductable) between the claim amount and the insured amount. My car is fully insured, however if I crash it, I will be paid the value of the car less $500 which is the excess. The higher the excess, the cheaper the insurance.
    Cheap alternative? Do what we do. Buy travel insurance which includes car hire. We do that even for a short holiday as its way cheaper and you can tell hire companies to stlck their insurance.

    It would have been even better if you hired a $WD and did Cape York Peninsula Sheburne Bay has towering 200 m high sand dunes with pure white silica sands ,rainforests and beaches It is a bit hard to access it but well worth it.The scenery is very wild

    Just to balance it out a bit, visitors need to be aware of Australia's deadliest animal, the redneck! If you are approached by one quickly throw a carton of beer at them in the hopes you can distract them long enough to escape! Also in Cairns you will need lots of coins and cigarettes to give the groups of intoxicated street people..Americans, should never admit it. When someone asks you for " money for the bus" that means can you put in for alcohol. Be careful in parks at night and be careful at night in general. There have been several stabbings, bashings and rapes in the city so ladies be careful. I notice a lot of travellers throwing cig butts on ground, thanks for that it goes straight to the reef. Do enjoy our beautiful region
