    3. Def Leppard - Pyromania
    4. AC/DC - Flick of the Switch
    5. Metallica - Kill 'em All

A faultless year of music. For me in a top 3 were Pyromania, Thunder And Lightning plus my faves at the time UFO with Making Contact but can't fault any of them albums. Donington 1984 was a first for me also so saw many of the bands and AC/DC starting with Guns For Hire that day, goosebumps.

Me too, I get a bit of ribbing from the other boys on the pod because they didn’t go to that one, it really was a magical day and those bands shaped my early metal days as it was so special!!

To be honest I didn't like it when it was first released but it's become one of my favourite albums

Great episode. The missing classic from the year has to be Melissa by Mercyful Fate, but hey, can't have them all.

Epic list! We've had loads of feedback for Mercyful Fate - mostly just passed us by - will re-visit now! Cheers!

I agree Gappy. Bark at the moon is my favourite Ozzy song and Jake E Lee gets nowhere near enough credit. What a year? Pyromania was my favourite at the time. Best record they ever made. I didn’t like Metallica at the time but obviously the beginning of something huge… great call with Y&T meanstreak, I absolutely loved that album. They should have been properly massive but then the record company tried to turn them into a bad Bon Jovi. Finally Holy Diver is definitely Dio’s best album. Absolutely AWESOME! I remember getting a Holy Diver baseball shirt and proudly wearing it to mass… 😂😂😂 shout at the devil is also one of the best Crue albums as well.

I think Mötley Crüe Shout at The Devil should be in the 12 classics

First album I ever got was released in 1983, Back to Back by the mighty Quo, but for some reason it doesn't seem to have even made your also-rans ...
