As recent recipient of emergency retina re-attachment surgery and very nearly becoming one eyed myself, I have a lot of empathy for Jack. I am amazed he trusts anyone.
Jack was neutered as a feral as part of a trap neuter release program. You can tell by the clipped ear. What an excellent citizen he is considering his feral start in life. It just goes to show us that ALL cats need a loving, safe home. Many can adapt.
I grew up rescuing snipped ear strays. One of them came to me at 4 after having contracted feline herpes and lost most of his teeth, yet now at 13 he's the smartest, nicest, most loving cat I've ever owned. He is so talkative he will have full conversations with people even over the phone and because of the odd grizzled cadence of his voice combined with his gorgeous face he is very popular with everyone who meets him. Every cat deserves a chance.
I couldn’t get myself to put out the feral mama I fostered with her litter after they were weaned. She’s also super vocal, lol. It took a year but now she loves and demands pets. She still freaks out if picked up but we’re working on it. I still fully support TNR because of the numbers but I wish they could all be house kittens.
One-eyed Jack seems like one of the calmest cats you’ve groomed😊😊I hope you can put together a premiere for all the cats you have groomed to see who has been the calmest and the wildest felines😂❤❤
Such a calm boy. You could tell he wasn't thrilled with everything (nobody likes having their trousers deknotted), but he was lying down through it and showed absolutely no distress.
Wow, he was so well behaved for his first groom! He seemed to be positively enjoying the dryer and had no problems with the brush or comb, even on his tail. What a star!
My cat had a scratched eye back when I was taming him. I couldn't bring him to the vet yet, he was feral. I ended up treating his eye myself with saline water, 4 times a day for 2 weeks. He got much better and now his eye is fine, just a bit of a deformed upper eyelid. It's amazing how much ferals can trust you over time.
@@nadineswag5265 absolutely - ferals get into so much nastiness that’s the first thing I do. Saline will not cure an eye infection. The cat was very lucky. When I picked up my Craigslist dog I took her to the vet for full vaccination, HW testing, tick panel and health check, etc, before I even brought her home - her origins were very sketchy - born on Amish farm, sold to unknown party who weren’t very nice, judging by her submissive behavior, then to being tied to a dog house 24/7 in back field, acquired defense aggression towards children, sold again to hillbillies who didn’t put a dime in her and had her a very short time - ended up on CL. @@katie195 You are absolutely wrong. Saline water helps cure mild infections easily when treatment is provided properly. I was recommended by my doctor to use saline water in my ear when I got ear infections or eye infections, ever since I've had a period of my life where they were chronic. I have not had chronic ear infections that required antibiotics (which we are trying to avoid resistance to) since she recommended this to me (thank goodness for that, they were painful). Also, after a massive surgery I had to the chest, I was given saline water to prevent and treat any possible infection that would arise on the soft tissue, unfortunately my skin was too weak from the surgery to fight off the infection successfully and I needed antibiotics as a last resort after my doctor told me to keep watch on the infection for a week (with saline treatment, which could have reverted the infection if not for my weakened soft tissues). The point I am making is that antibiotics should be avoided if possible and saline water is perfectly fine to treat a mild infection. My cat wasn't "lucky", my vet told me I did the right thing and that my treatment helped my cat to have minimal scarring. Obviously, if the infection had gotten worse (not better), I would have brought him to the vet and gotten him antibiotics. I treat my cat very well and got him medicine for his growing arthritis this year, as well. I swear armchair specialists on RUclips are just so annoying.
My Jack Russell dog got a scratched cornea when he was trying to gently say hello to a cat. He was very brave!
