- This is live music at its best. From the Jam perform "Strange Town", another song which originally made the charts by The Jam. It reached No. 15 on the UK Top 40 when it was released in 1979. The Jam's original version later appeared on a re-release of their album "Setting Sons" in 2001 and also features on their 1983 Greatest Hits album "Snap!"
This performance comes from the "From the Jam - A 1st Class Return" concert Live at the Forum in December 2007. From the Jam kick off at full speed, each one complimenting the other and the material as fresh as when it was at the top of the UK Charts! They turned a chilly night in North London into a rhythm inferno, and in doing so, rewrite modern world anthems for the 21st century!
From the Jam line up:
Bruce Foxton - Bass Guitar, Acoustic Guitar and Vocals.
Rick Buckler - Drums.
Russell Hastings - Lead Vocals, Guitar and Acoustic Guitar.
Dave Moore - Guitar, Bass, Keyboards and Backing Vocals.

Everyone thinks that the music of their era was the best, maybe the kids from the sixties would argue with me but I know I had the best with the Jam, Two Tone, The Specials, Madness, proper Reggae and the list goes on.
No wonder depression is so common in the youngsters today. What they need is some angry young men with electric guitars to listen too.
Lead vocals are incredible
Foxton is like a man who ended up in a wheel chair and a Doctor came along and gave him the power to walk again.
Dr. Russel Hastings. So happy for Bruce, he looks so happy up there.
Saw them last weekend in Southampton. A1 gig. Bruce is still one of the best bassists ever
That's a great vocal there, close your eyes and that's Paul. Great crowd too!
Hastings is fucking amazing God bless keeping a great band alive
I have always loved this song since being stationed in Germany in the Army in '86. I have noticed a change in tempo between the chorus and verse in this version. I prefer the none-tempo change of the original so you can really dig the groove. I am a bass player and I also very much admire Bruce Foxton's chops and singing ability. It's not easy to do what he does.
Brilliant drumming from Rick!!
Those vocals are amazing!
Just love the middle 8 in this; melodically and lyrically perfect. My fav Jam song.
Amazing! After all these years this great band still puts on a terrific show.Well done lads!

I seen the jam in 19 80 and from the jam nearly 2 years ago and Bruce foxton has hardly aged a day and his playing and singing is as great as ever well worth seeing live

Used to play this before visiting Carlisle in Cumbria lol
The keys work well

Very good, love Bruce n Rick, seen the jam live, but can't beat Paul wellers voice
Sadly, Paul can't sing this well nowadays
@RAVEN AK47 Yes and he looks a bit like him
Something about this front man that really switches me off. Other than that great tune & love Bruce
Not a bad stand in for Weller.
It's uncanny how the performance sounds 100% ripped from the actual record, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
How beautiful if they were together like Specials - until death? Life.
To mention the Specials with the Jam means you were there, you just know.
"Rush my money to the record shop". Not since about 1990...
Ha ha brillianf comment. We wud all rush to see the holy trinity again, but ftj do a sterling job.
Hastings is his own man and doesn’t pretend to be weller I hate to see tribute bands where the lead singer apes Paul weller I find it embarrassing carry on Russell you do fine mate.
JUST TOO FAST 🙄 NOT A PATCH ON THE JAM'S FIRST RENDITION IN 79' 😔
