Saw them at the Dorking Halls. The best live gig ever. Russel Hastings does such a good job leading the band. Even Weller complimented him and said he can't sing like that anymore.
Yes Steven Salemi, correct! Especially at 00:45 when the Bass player lays down that driving bassline that reminds me of the playing of a Norman Watt-Roy of Ian Dury and The Blockheads. Remember England and being English?
I recently saw a list of Weller's top ten songs and this wasn't even on it. I was like WTF!?!? Not sure if it's this or In the City tbh. This is a far more nuanced song for sure...but the raw energy of In The City is great.... One thing is for sure...ALL Jam tracks are better than anything Weller has done since.
Damned what a great bass line. Weller gets the credit for being a great song writer, but without a bass player who can handle a line like that, the song wouldn't have worked. Foxton kicks ass.
The Jam should never reform. Weller is about now. From The Jam is about our memories. It is as it should be. Russell does a brilliant job giving back our memories and I told him so when I met him in Liverpool a few years ago.
Bruce Foxton's bass playing was the key to the Jam sound back in the day.. Great to see himself and Rick rocking out all the years later.. The chap taking Wellers part is outstanding!.. Close your eyes and its almost 79 again.. Would nt it be great if Paul just done even one gig with the lads while they still have it
Saw them in Auckland this week. They were knackered after flying in from Dubai, as one does. But soldiered on and did a great show. Down in the Tube Station at Midnight was a highlight, with the crowd singing along and doing the whole whoa oa oa oa bit, and the drummer leading that as Russell sorted a broken string issue. Magic.
Well I fell in love with this song years ago, of course, and I never would have thought I would have listen to it Live in 2015 .... voice is great ... song it is still wonderful .... so many memories.... and thanks for these memories
That vocalist sounds UNCANNILY like Paul Weller here... Whatever your views on 'From The Jam' as a touring outfit, (and I say why-ever shouldn't they play if the demand is there?) Weller's VOICE, (as well as his playing...) was as intrinsic to that sound as Bruce's voice/playing and Rick's playing. The Only Way to replicate the sound, (and the passion, energy and emotion...) of the original is to provide as close a 'facsimile' as possible. Purists and critics might object to this, yet how else was it to be done? (And one tends to think that, had the decision been taken to include a vocalist/player who DID NOT attempt to emulate or 'channel' Weller in performance, the same critics would have as vehemently objected, though for the opposite reason?) My feeling is that this performer does an almost UNBELIEVABLE JOB. He is a performer and a musician of real ability on every level. He IS NOT PRETENDING to be Paul Weller, rather, he is doing an incredible job replicating that Artist's style, sound, ability and delivery. If Paul Weller had his reasons, (and he did...) in calling it a day at the height of that outfit's success, it is quite understandable that his fellow band members might, (indeed did...) feel rather short-changed by that 'fait accompli'... The Jam WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED were it not (also) for Buckler and Foxton. If those men now choose to take the music they helped to create back on the road for an audience who, only too clearly, want to experience it in a live setting, in all its passionate intensity, who would deny them that? (I wouldn't!!!) One wonders, of course, what Paul Weller might think, seeing this? (I don't know if he's ever commented, probably not...) I HOPE he smiles and thinks, "Yeah, it was THAT GOOD..." And it was. (It still is...) xx SF
Absolutely superb. Credit to the whole band but Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler are doing it for the fans, as well as the money. Great professional job. If only Paul Weller could get down off his high horse and get back together with them....Or is he too scared that his musicianship would not match? Paul, if you're reading this, I'd give a week's wages to see a live reunion.
It was a song about life back then, getting beaten up in the tube station or anywhere really was always a threat. The National Front was a violent organisation, you could get battered for just having a Trojan record on you, I kid you not. We all connected to the Jam when we heard this song. About as true to life as it gets. (At least back then.)
The Real Jam, Russel Hastings - Lead And Backing vocals, lead guitar, , Rick Buckler - drums, percussion Bruce Foxton - Lead vocals, bass guitar, backing vocals.

I have seen FTJ quite a few times, just want to say Hastings has nailed the vocals now, not sure he did in this clip..... certainly not as well as I have seen them perform. Cracking night out.
Ian Grace spot on Ian. Saw them in Aberdeen 2 weeks ago. Saw the jam few times as a kid. Best band I saw. Vocally Scott very similar to young Weller. The one thing that made FTJ better than last time I saw them was keyboard player. He was great addition
one of the finest songwriters of our generation, still there after four decades, driving force behind The Jam and TSC, why the need for a disrespectful comment?
Agreed. But for those of us who have never had the opportunity to see the Jam with Paul Weller,i would love to have the opportunity to see this band live.I went to see Paul Weller in 2011 and he barely played any Jam songs.I had a ticket to his gig the following night and sold it to a keen English person.I didn't get off on the gig & I wasn't the only one.
I get Weller wanted to move on but the Travesty that was the Style Council was the wrong way to go, and i get Foxton and Buckler were mad because they lost a good thing, but although Weller was the main Songwriter and focus of the band the other two were a vital part of it. Weller doesn't seem to get The Jam or any other Band doesn't belong to him or any of the members of a band, it belongs to the Fans, the Music belongs to the Fans as well. Its a personal feeling that Weller thinks The Jams in the Past but for thousands of us it isn't and we still want to listed and see the Music live, Weller shouldn't begrudge that or look down on anyone that makes that happen.
1. Why is there 4 of them 2.There will never be anyone that can replace Wellers passion and aggression that is what made them so good live. 3.Stop spoiling the memories of real fans with this cabaret act. 4.I thinks it's tragic and if everyone thinks that Bruce's new music is so good why does he never play it.
Try listening to Weller now play Jam stuff, that spoils memories... Russ Hastings does an amazing job . Bruce Foxtons' stuff is great, but unfortunately for him 90% of fans want to hear the classics .
if a child were born on a dessert island it would grow up naturally more like a left winger than a right winger. to me that speaks the heart of the matter.

Get Real: This is the best Jam song, bar none. So wonderful to see Rick and Bruce playing it now.
Yes Steven Salemi, correct! Especially at 00:45 when the Bass player lays down that driving bassline that reminds me of the playing of a Norman Watt-Roy of Ian Dury and The Blockheads.
Remember England and being English?
Yes. Its a pity ricks left the band.
I recently saw a list of Weller's top ten songs and this wasn't even on it. I was like WTF!?!?
Not sure if it's this or In the City tbh. This is a far more nuanced song for sure...but the raw energy of In The City is great.... One thing is for sure...ALL Jam tracks are better than anything Weller has done since.
you have that list?@@FoobsTon
@@rockers2rockers616 Bruce would love that comparison.
Damned what a great bass line. Weller gets the credit for being a great song writer, but without a bass player who can handle a line like that, the song wouldn't have worked. Foxton kicks ass.
Ryan Allen couldn’t agree more. Bruce Foxton is a superb bassist. And those aren’t easy bass lines to play. Love the Jam.
Always gave full credit to Weller for the sound of That Jam.
Now I realise how amazing Bruce and Rick are!!
HE SO DOES!
Rick and Bruce, there musicianship is spellbinding
The Jam should never reform. Weller is about now. From The Jam is about our memories. It is as it should be. Russell does a brilliant job giving back our memories and I told him so when I met him in Liverpool a few years ago.
As close as it will ever get to the sound of the original Jam. This singer does one hell of a job!!!
He's brilliant 👏
Bruce Foxton's bass playing was the key to the Jam sound back in the day.. Great to see himself and Rick rocking out all the years later.. The chap taking Wellers part is outstanding!.. The Foxton Jam ? OUTSTANDINDING!
I saw this band this year on their farewell tour, great band and night ⭐
Seen them 4 times now and never get fed up with them
First I have heard this... sounds as good as Weller... Bruce's strong bass presence...well done 10/10
Weller is my hero. This guy does a great job on his parts. A tough dude to stand in for. Bruce is awesome as usual.
THe guy isn't a bad singer but his version of this, although not a million miles away, is crap to be honest
Saw them last night in Reading. I'm 60 next week. They were 11/10. I think they are better than the original. All songs were.
Terrific, just terrific. FROM THE JAM ARE THE BEST!
The lead singer really does Mr Weller & that song so much justice, absolutely marvellous.
Magic.
Saw these guys in Wellington (New Zealand) last night -- an absolute stunner of a gig.
Seeing them tonight in Brisbane. Can't wait.
Bruce is SO AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
I loved this song the first time and I still love it well done
it can't get any better 😅
Cool bro...i like them. Perfect nostalgia better than wait weller back to the jam...its impossible.. Great vocal
No argument amazing song brilliant musicians enough said.
This drumming is perfect!!
Rick Buckler is a legend!!!
Rick Buckler needs To Get Back With From The Jam.
Rick is such a powerful and precise drummer! Can't he get along with anyone? GET BACK RICK!
Really tight player
He has signed my vinyl sleeve of Down in the tube station at midnight!
Brilliant 👍
Saw them last November in Leeds awesome-just amazing, off to see them again in November.
This makes me happy!!!!
Tight band and sounding like they could have a future. Very nice.

Excellent drumming! Brilliant drumming!
Bruce and Russel need to get Rick Buckler back!

TIGHT TIGHT TIGHT!
:O Excellent !
Can you imagine the interest if Weller did one final tour with Foxton and Buckler? One band I would love to see reform for one tour before I die
Will be going to see them in August at the point Sunderland no Rick now though.
Come on reunite ffs just a couple of shows here n they're "you know it makes sense" 🇬🇧!!!!!!
Fuck this is good!
When are from the jam , coming to Manchester, can't Waite.
Great band but 1 extra guitarist... Needed? Seeing them tonight Chinnerys 👍
The Real Jam,
Russel Hastings - Lead And Backing vocals, lead guitar, ,
Rick Buckler - drums, percussion
Bruce Foxton - Lead vocals, bass guitar, backing vocals.
Uncomfortable fact... this sounds more like the Jam than Weller would doing this with a couple of session musicians now.
Yes mate,i agree. The tunes have built in aggression and without that they don't sound right.
Brill
How is this a tribute band with Bruce & Rick..... Prat
GOD BLESS FOXTON!

I know hard-core jam fans may disagree but Russell Hastings sounds better than Paul weller today
It's hard to swallow but it's right.Paul is doing other chilled out stuff that's nothing near the jam.
Who the fuck is Weller? X
kat munro agreed!!!!!!
+kat munro what ? he wrote some of the best songs of the new wave era, f .t. j is pointless come on bruce do a solo tour please.

This Is The Real Jam,, I have always Loved The Jam, But I’ve always disliked That champagne socialist Paul Weller.
The genius that wrote all the songs you mean?
thats not Weller!
Well spotted!😁😁
@@cray2349 he's awful
why ? just save cash and go see jam drc, or therapy if you want a great live band of today
The Jam DRC !!! Lol ... They're an embarrassment
Better than Weller who was a complete knob

Spoken like a true knob

He’s Right Tho, Weller is A Knob!
I have no respect for Paul Weller, the mans a Clown, Weller is A complete tosser.

I love THE JAM,but "right -wing mutants"?.What about all the left-wing mutants?
if a child were born on a dessert island it would grow up naturally more like a left winger than a right winger. to me that speaks the heart of the matter.
right wing meetings
+ted norton Most right wingers would be left wing if they were in a situation like that though
Right wing are Rich Tory boys who screw over everybody else. End off.
right wing people dont care about anyone unless they are useful for thier own ends. Love isnt on thier agenda
More like left wing mutants nowadays
Bit sad playing in a tribute band is he that skint ?
Rubbish comment.
Not tribute Bruce and Rick are their only Weller missing they were the original line up
Tribute band ha tosser
James Phillips there
So were Floyd a tribute band without Roger ?
He's good but Weller he ain't
Being second to Paul Wellar isn't a bad achievement.
This is pure clickbait - thumbs down!
Absolute flannel thinking he's Weller, so embarrassing!
