Who will save Humanity's last chance for survival? Ascension, a three night event, begins Dec. 15 at 9/8c.
A young woman's murder causes the subjects of a century-long mission to populate a new world to question the true nature of the project as they approach the point of no return.
This is the best show I've seen since SGU. I was crushed when there was only 6 episodes. Please let the show go on.

Just finished watching the show, it was really cool. It had great potential, and i would love to see how things worked out in the end.
However, the rushed ending was very distasteful, but it is understandable; since the show had to end somehow.
i didn't like the whole starchild idea, and (major spoilers) the fact it never left earth was intriguing at first but got dull later on, especially when their only hope of ever getting out was krueger, who effortlessly got wacked in the final act. And forgive me, i was actually shocked when she died; because she was such a essential character to the show, if it ever were to progress.
Overall, this is like firefly all over. Great show with characters you can learn to love, awesome setpieces, lots of space to grow and evolve...
Stop breaking our hearts hollywood. god dammit.
They should of never cancelled Ascension. It was a really good show. I can see the Government trying to pull something like that. Making people think they've been in space for fifty years when not. I would of loved to see how the story writing for the show could of flourished. Bring Back Ascension!!!

This is by far the best TV show I've watched in years. I don't want to spoil it, so go watch it, but give it more than one episode if you doubt, you will be charmed. I just sat here and watched the whole thing. Amazed. Need a second season !!
I loved most of the first episode(that is, until it was revealed that the whole ship & the interstellar journey was just a simulation.) I am into the 2nd episode now...but I am just not as excited about it, as I was when I began watching.
You would think if that many brilliant scientists were on that ship, they would realize that they were not in space!

There is no season 2 and season 1 just drops off I wanted there to be more!! Its like it got canceled midseason thats how bad it just ends. I like this show better then sone ither sci fy shows out there for sure

+Kyleigh Hemmingson Its called a mini series. It does't have a season two. It is a complete story from start to finish. The ending has a reveal that tells the viewer what the point of it all was all along. I also enjoyed it very much, and of course the story could have continued. The ending does leave a few loose ends. I guess we just have to use our imaginations to think of possibilities.
The show was not bad it’s just that people were not exposed to it... it didn’t have much exposure.
i have to say all 3 episodes had be gripped ..so i cant wait for season two ...best thing i have seen in a long long time

There are some glaring anachronisms. The dialog includes phrases like "Not feeling it." , "going forward", and "totally." Although LEDs existed in the 60s, the 7-segment numeric displays did not. They used something called a Nixie tube.
Wish this had more series. I enjoyed this TV show.

Ascension is about one thing human stagnation, in the book series of Dune, and the animation of Gundam 00, humanity refuses to grow as long as you remain in our cradle planet Earth. It has been theorIzed that If mankind were to go to space, we will be forced to evolve to become more than we are mentally, that is the purpose of project Ascension to force humans to grow, even though we have better tools mankind itself has not grown over the last seven thousand years. Men still attempt to gain self respect by belittling devaluing and using force on women. PeoPle still let fear dictate how they act rather than thinking things through, we still default to the mob mentality to do horrible things when we're afraid. We still allow the rich and poWerful to use fear to get it to attack other people, nation ethnic and groups, to make ourselves feel better about ourselves, while they get rich off of it. We still only unite as a people when you think that someone is attacking us, we still attack those who look different think different or do different in our own country.

Who is WE and why do you do that? If you don't like it, STOP allowing the rich and powerful to use fear. Oh. right, you are neither rich nor powerful so you cannot actually stop that behavior.

What happened to the rest of the episodes? Did they run out of budget or did their sponsors fell out with each others? So disappointed with how they cut it off.
Does anyone know where I can watch Ascension online? I've seen 5 episodes of season 1 on Tubi, but I can't find any more any where else... ☹️

This is one of the Best sci-fi series I,ve come across for awhile. Reminds me of those good ol Weird Science comics and other tales with generation ships, and a real good story. Classic Sci-fi indeed.
Did they wave goodbye to the Nazi base on the moon as depicted in Iron Sky? Woodabin a nice touch ...
It's set on one spaceship yet the guy in the engine room somehow has a southern accent.
+Strand - it's only been fifty years. The people who left the planet on the ship would have brought their accents. Their cultures. Their beliefs - and jammed them together on this ship. Our own modern accents are all derived from the accents and languages our ancestors brought to the countries we live in. For instance - the modern southern accent - is derived from the mangled combination of english and french from the colonies settled by France that would become Carolina and Louisiana when the english colonists began to come into contact with the french colonists. That was 200+ years ago. This ship has only gone on for 50 years - so it's not hard to imagine the accents haven't changed that much - or that people stuck in the lower decks would have rougher southern or british or midwestern accents. They don't speak as well as the upper-deck denizens because they aren't as educated. Their only purpose is to fill a role.

A great show in the tradition of true Sci-Fi. BUt it needed more than 6 episodes. Even 6+ years later, it is a "standout" mini-series.
It was pretty good I was bummed when they didn't actually leave earth but got over it lol not sure about the ending but overall 8/10
i never got over it. it was complete bullshit. leave it on the spaceship, so much potential. to have it all faked was a let down

the idea is not new . there is an old fiction film "the Great cosmic journey" 1970 USSR
Three teenagers - Light Esenova from Bukhara, Sasha Ivanenko from Donetsk and Moscow Fyodor Druzhinin - win in the all-Union children's space competition and, after a course of special training, go to the first ever baby flying on a spaceship "Astra". During the flight gets sick and falls into the insulator the only adult on the ship - captain Yegor Kalinowski. Series occur soon after emergencies forcing children astronauts to make independent decisions in conditions when erroneous actions threaten the loss of the crew and ship. Honorably withstood all tests, the heroes of the film suddenly discover that the "Astra" - underground simulator, and the expedition of the "top three", in fact, never left the Ground, and psychological competences in order to find out the prospects of a real children's space flight. Then it turns out that he accidentally learned about this mission "Asters" shortly before the start, had kept her from Amy and Sasha, to prevent disruption of critical experiment. Despite the fact that "space travel" was only training, all three participants, the estimated time find their way from the simulator, and got to the surface at the main entrance to the mission control Center, meet the real space heroes.

This could have been large as BSG, shame they never went into production.
A black and white tablet with a 4.2 inch screen. A retro iPad, sweet, lol.
Art and music would simply be recycled as well. The next generation onboard would simply create thier own sense of style and fashion as well as art and music. Yes they would be inspired by earlier trends but it undoubtedly diverge from the norm. Form and Function are to closely related. Nobody leaves the ship's interior so most everyday wear would be comfortable indoor casual type clothes. Kids and adults draw and doodle constantly they would create stacks of new art yearly. New music would be created as well. It is a form of expression from an individual or small group that needs a constant outlet. You just can not have that many scientists and artists and A-Type people onboard in an inclosed space without some form of turmoil that would need an outlet.
"Snowpiercer" in Space? Well, not particularly. The "war of classes" can be found anywhere, from "Downton Abby" to "Titanic" to "Elysium." "Snowpiercer" is also dystopian, which matters quite a bit to the plot. No, this is more in line with Alternative /Parallel history novels and comic books, with a little conspiracy theory stuff thrown in for good measure.

What to say, interested concept but impossible for technology lvl of 50's and 60's, the ship of that size would be impossible to build on Earth, and not in front of China and Soviet Union, even today with our so called "modern technology-at least its modern to us", it would be challenge to build that kind of ship, we have technology, to build multi-generation ship, but we lack the money:) as said, nice concept, hope will get season 2
On the topic of the technology but. How the hell the they get such an advanced screen to make it look like they were in space? Now I get that it would be state of the art back then (and to the people on the ship) but the quality and 3D it produces is ridiculous. A perfect example is the radiation cloud that came towards the ship in the first episode. It practically came face to face with the man.

Where are the horses?
It is so sad that big networks can’t seem to wrap their heads around what is a good show and what is a bad show. 90% of TV is god awful. I’m happy the show got a solid 6 episodes but I really wish some network would’ve picked this series up. **Attention** Only watch this show if you like good television. Definitely do not watch it if you hate being entertained.

That type or multi-gerational ship would require a closed loop system. A system where everything on board would be reused and recycled many times over. No system mechanical electrical, or bio-logical would be able to last that type of journey. The systems used the most onboard in high traffic areas like doors and walkways would wear down and break. These would need to be replace or even refinished. They'd never have enough paint and floor wax on board to last long enough to keep the interior looking new and clean daily let alone make it last 100 yrs. Asension would need regular resupply visits or rendivous to keep it operating. It could be possible that other vessels were launched ahead of Asension for it to catchup too enroute at ten or twelve year cycles. Thus allowing for new parts and supplies.
I'm calling it; everyone on board that ship is going to die.

Like other great sci fi shows you have to suspend your belief a little because it's obviously impossible. If the writing and acting is good then the premise should work. I hear it's Canadian which is pretty cool. Many awesome US shows are made there so it shouldn't be too hard for them to fully produce their own show and do it right.

There's also the problem of no new technology being invented or implemented on ascension. Necessity has always been the mother of invention. You have a ship full of scientists and engineers. Of course they'd keep developing new technology or replacement equipment on the fly as needed. It would simply be a matter of allocating resources and materials into priority projects and upgrades. However ascension is based on a static model that resists change. This is the flaw in pre-planned systems that are meant to stay in balance and never change. This happens in society and culture as well. Thier survival depends on the ship being able to adapt to thier needs as they evolve as a community. However ascension isn't able to do this so when something unforseen or unplanned (murder) takes place it creates a chain reaction of events that will either change the ship and it's mission or change the community within its hull.

If the ship is cruising at a constant acceleration of 9.8g/s^2 then you would have earth gravity, yes.
And that's actually the idea of a generation ship. That it is constantly accelerating up until the midpoint of it's journey, then it turns around and decelerates until it reaches it's target.

this show had such potential until they made it not real.... by making the entire thing a project, it took away. had it been an actual ship going thru space, it wouldve been way better

Sounds like more fiction than science! I considered that they could have assembled the ship in space for about 1 milisecond and ending up back at we can't do that now never mind in 1963. Ah hell it's on tonight I'll watch it for a laugh I guess!!

I enjoyed the show though and the story except....what the hell did they do about gravity? Suddenly back in the past they convinced 600 people they had just solved the gravity problem on a spaceship? 600 really dumb people are going to save humanity??
