- The most interesting Traitor Marines in the entire setting are easily first claw, and that makes them worth talking about

“I wanted to be a hero, and look where that got me.”
-Talos Valcoran explaining why he became an Astarte.
Uzas’s moments of clarity made his death hurt more than the others.
"Why are my hands red" damn bro that shit was heart wrenching
‘The old woman.’ Xarl said slowly. ‘She was your mother.’
Now that was a gutwrencher.
I loved how the books show Talos use his terror tactics on the Navigator Octavia early in the books.
She opened her third eye to kill Talos who stared back at her third eye without flinching, making the Navigator freak out that this chaos marine was unkillable when he really just had his eyes closed under his helmet.
I loved his whole thought process there of "I have no idea if her third eye can kill an Astartes and I'm not about to find out"
GW is sitting on a gold mine with decimus and his hunt for craftworld Ulthwe, not only could it bring the night lords back into the spotlight, but they could use it as a way to add new eldar models
And the absolute fuckload of lore video's and fan fiction about the 8th means the people want more Night Lords. They could just make it a box set. Night Lords vs Ulthwe. We all know GW loves their box sets. And it would help to FINALLY get some lore on what the Night Lords did after the 13th Black Crusade because that is where the lore left them behind. Decimus had them as united as they would get and GW totally dropped that storyline.
Hopefully we get a hit of that lore when the 10th edition Chaos Space Marine codex drops, they’re gonna need more stories now that the World Eaters are in a diff codex
There is literally a single sentence in Arks of Omen books where it says the 8th took an ark, attacked Ulthwe, and didn’t do too well and that’s literally it.
@@nightbones8LWe need Sevetar back. He wouldn't let shit get this bad.
@@nightbones8Lthat hurts to hear, the night lords are kind of destined to fail and I guess it makes sense there’s no way a night lord fleet could take Ulthwe, I was hoping theyd team up with another legion and actually make a conflict but they really don’t want to do anything with eldar I guess.
It also makes sense that thematically the night lords problem is they do what they’re destined and designed to do and then don’t think they can be anything else, talos fell into the same hole as he was stuck in the heresy, and the fact Decimus’s only motivation is “let’s attack cause my vision said so” they’re essentially replaying curze’s failure over and over.
Mahn, I loved the resurrection of Malcharion moment. They’re like “dude we’ve tried many times to make you up in the dreadnought, why’d this time work?” And he’s just like “I heard Bolter fire”
I love his final words in the end. "I always have to clean up that boy's (Talos) mess." Like a loving father gathering up his sleeping son's toys.
The relationship between Uzas and Talos is my fave. Talos clearly cares for him. Making sure in so far as it's possible to prevent his mate becoming a full blooded khorne berserker.
And that one chapter where pre-Khorne Uzas shows up and is pretty congenial hits hard for it.
My favorite part of the whole book is the death of Uzas... and the red paint incident.
Uzas is the best character for me
Also shout out to Malcharion for saving one of random Night Lord slave and then escorting her to safety in a move that screams anything but Night Lord
I swear to God Malcharion could have been a Salamander. He truly cared about those under him and was a respected leader.
God I laughed at that scene. "The hell u doin here?" lolol
I think a video talking about Octavia's son Decimus would be cool, apparently he plans to unifiy the Night Lords
No guarantee Decimus is Octavia’s son but yeah it would be cool to see
It’s not but it’s a fan theory and one that is well beloved so we make it canon and revolt should they disregard our demand.
@@m0n4rch24 It's pretty heavily implied imo. Talos warned them that Variel would come for the baby. I would love to read a book about Decimus uniting the Night Lords.
I'm so happy Octavia is living a good life right now.
I can't believe there's never been a Decimus book. After the Night Lord's trilogy GW just sort of forgot about them
Getting a video about how each of the pre heresy primarchs would have reacted to being in guillimans situation as imperial regent would be really interesting. Seeing how each primarch would rule their own imperium would be really interesting
i swear hes already done a video like that
@@wingwangtingtang not that I know of !
He said that he would do that but he has falied to deliver
I would like to see pre macheria/emperor tier spanking Logar react to modern day imperium
@@trimeerious4349 somebody did, may be leutin
Decimus is technically the only
Example of a "second generation" Astartes. Not like the primarius but a "child" of a space marine. Pretty cool honestly.
Well him and Honsou, that prick.
I missed the mention of Lucoryphus, who was quite relevant and such a badass crazy rocketman
Care to explain further?
One of the best series in The Black Library in my opinion, just extremely well written and it convinced me to become obsessed with a faction, that previously, I had negative interest in!
What is the name of the book?
late but:
Soul Hunter
Blood Reaver
Void Stalker@@mikemikhail723
@@mikemikhail723the night lords omnibus (it's a trilogy and I really recommend it)
Favorite books in 40k. You are missed first claw. You murderous, sadistic, but glorious bastards.
Since you mentioned the nightlords trilogy, let me remind everyone that some audiobooks are headphones only. This nice old lady walked over to my station during a flaying, she never even looked at me again.
LOL
There's audiobooks of them? Mind giving me the title?
You should commision art of Xarl headbutting Tolemion during their epic duel 💪
"Lord of the Night" walked so "Soul Hunter" could run.
"Malcarion why did you wake up?"
"I HEARD BOLTER FIRE." Most badass introduction of a character.
I’m so happy to see this video. It was the Night Lords trilogy that sold me on Warhammer and helped me get back into reading. It deserves all the attention it can get.
Night Lord fans are Wild.
“He was an honorable man who teamkilled someone who abused one of his slaves”
“He also flayed an entire planet and also team kills when he has a seizure sometimes too, isn’t he soo cool?”
Damn right he is
He's honorable for NIGHT LORD standards
Cant wait for the night lords to come back their armor design and theme are so awesome
Sudden urge to make a First Claw Kill Team 😮
Thats where I started, now close to 3k points.......
Wait so did Talos save Octavia BEFORE she got slaaneshed? Believe me, it would be great if he did, but when I read it I got the impression the cultists were either just starting or in the middle of having their way with her when Talos starting breaking shit and hunting them. So is this just wistfull thinking or did Talos actually manage to SAVE her, and not just keep her from dying?
She was not slaaneshed, they just beat all colors of shit out of her.
No he didn't they had already done their deed.
It's not stated what happened. They never say if she was or was not assaulted and it is never referenced again as far as I remember. She doesn't act like anything happened beyond getting kidnapped she I lean towards her not being Slaaneshed as you put it.
@@jaketheberge1970 And the r-word gets dropped quite a bit in the trilogy but when they speak about the kidnapped its not mentioned and not even hinted.
I'm in the middle of re-reading the 1st book. That part is my least favorite for obvious reasons, but I'll update if I find anything leaning one way or the other. It doesn't help that Maruc later talks to Septimus about Octavia needing some alone time, and the language could either imply her being traumatized from ALMOST being slaaneshed or BEING slaaneshed, so it's a little vague. Either way, I'll update if the novel gives an answer.
I love the piece of lore we get with Uzas with the Red Gaulets of Treason Talos made him wear.
Absolutely love Sevetar i hope we get more from the scouring books Prince of crows is such a great book!!!
Unless he died during the siege. No one knows exactly what happened yet.
I don't think Sevatar was at the seige. If he was, he absolutely would have fought Sigismund to finally settle who was the best fighter.
A video about the night lords is always appreciated
Night Lords trilogy is amazing. That scene in book 1 when they fight the titan was surreal to read
Decimus needs to show up in the lore again.
You should've mentioned The Bleeding Eyes and their leader Lucoryphus.
Lucocryphus and his raptors are on often forgotten badass part of the books. I love how he got a cameo in the siege of terra books
@@alfredincognito7678 YES YES!
Best part is Lucoryphus survives and ends up as Decimus' right-hand man besides Variel.
Night lords are best at being bad
Death Note the legion
They don't need no chaos
I just finished the series for the second time. The best part is when the shoe finally drops for Talos and Septimus end up telling Talos to eat shit in the 3rd book.
This Omnibus was the first Black Library publication I read and nothing has matched it so far. Not only is first Claw really awesome but I also love a lot of the sidecharacters such as the humans and the Red Corsairs. Blood Reaver and the Huron Book are actually the reason why I play Red Corsairs, but it was hard to resist playing Night Lords XD
It’s almost as if excellent character development and writing make for a great read. GW could definitely stand to do more of that.
Night Lords are pure unadulterated awesomeness.
I liked how after they do that whole psychic shockwave thing that one of the Nightlords realizes that they may have screwed themselves over because as far as the Imperium knows a whole bunch of worlds just went totally dark so they're going to send an overwhelming force in response to that. Bad guys/chaos characters rarely seem to recognize the Imperium as a threat even though it's pretty normal for them to lose to the Imperium. Normally they are just so overconfident or crazy or whatever that they don't care.
Great vid Majorkill. Made my day with Mercutian. Not much beats the image of a sterile hyper bro soldier firing a 'massive bolter' at a hard to hit demi-god Eldar hottie. RIP Mercutian
Miserable, loyal Mercutian indeed.
I liked him, his pessimistic attitude was rather grounding, especially when they bring up his noble background and he ends up swearing so normally.
They should write a story about an unknown uncorrupted Night lord Spacemarine training new recruits
recruits that he made from the geneseeds that he harvested from his fellow brothers
Yet again i'm watching another video of yours from start to finish, a more relaxed take on the Warhammer 40K which feeds my curiosity and is said in a very specific type of voice which has just right ammount of relatable person energy in it to make me want to come back for more.
If you're new to 40k, read these books now. I actually picked these up because Majorkill recommended them in another video, and they are legitimately great. Liked them so much I picked up the Lord of the Night mini.
Great Legion, Jago is beast and one of my favorite
From what i recall, the Nightlords omibus never outright states Malcharion dies at the end of the book.
If anything there are too many loose ends like Deltrion and how everyone escapes
Actually named my second child Sevatar Nykona.... Wife didn't realise what that was until I got the birth cert signed
Its always a treat watching these. It frees me from the drudgery and disappointment of my life for ten minutes
ADB is such a wonderful author, just banger after banger
It was their look that first drew me to them, their trilogy that got me back into reading after years and their absolute insane lore and open endedness that made me start collecting chaos space marines and turning them midnight blue. Just the fact that most are random pirate warbands now makes homebrewing them so easy and lore accurate.
They really need to follow up with a Decimus series.
10 thousand years after the Great Crusade and The Word Bearers became more hardcore and effective than Night Lords you know something got fucked up along the way.
“Brother why are my hands red, does Talos know i did not do this”
Those awesome novels got me back into this silly wonderful hobby after a 20 year break
oh wow I didn't even realized this just came out. Majorkill video is always an instant click for me

The First Claw about to drop the best Traitor Legion album.
I loved the series! ADB along with Abnett and McNeil are the THREE ULTRED best story tellers of 40K!
This warband sparked my love for the night lords and space marine, very nice video
Just got into 40k recently. Been lovin all your stuff. Gunna be ordering some merch soon. Keep up the great job dude! You rock!
I won't lie when i first heard of Night Lord's they where my least favorite, however more i've learned about them the more and more interest in them i am getting to the point where i am unsure if i wanna build my Chaos army as Night Lords OR Red Corsairs.
"Ruven - a fellow night lord". Ye chief, I'm not sure about that
"You did it Jain Zar, you saved the Craftworld. Just imagine if they survived or someone gained their geneseeds."
"The what?"
Day 308 of requesting a Commissar Yarrick Major Mini pls and thank you.
It was the First Claw trilogy that got me into reading Warhammer books.
This is what I'm here for: Night Lords, most interesting of the Traitor Marines
This channel is so hype. He makes the lore simple when it’s the most convoluted universe.
If there isnt one out yet, i think night a video about Atramentar is bound to happen now
Alright Captain Murder, really happy you did a vid on these guys. Finished the omnibus a month or so ago. You left out a fairly relevant piece of lore. There was a bit of redemption with cyrion and uzsas at the end. Cyrion makes a vague but deliberate confession to talos before he dies. Talos seems to understand the implications. Also xarl is one of the strongest warriors but the atramentar could have been briefly mentioned in that segment. Their reputation appears to preceed them. Agree with previous comment on lucoryphus as well. Dudes a G.Enjoyed the vid! Iron your fucking shirt
I imagine at least one crew member on the covenant of fire (aka their main ship) must of been sad when Uzas died and was depressed after Uzas died.
Do a video on the chief librarian from each legion
Uzas slowly became my favorite character but I def LOL'd at his end
Just started Soul Hunter last week and I have to say this book is one of the most enjoyable 40K books I’ve read so far.
Majorkill you should make a video showing off your current warhammer mini collection one day
I love your videos bro ❤. But am patiently waiting for a blood angels chapter video 🥺
Yeah these Night Lords are what got me into 40k. Came for the Killer Batman legion stayed for the wholesome moments.
Uzas: "Blood for the Blood God! Souls, skulls, souls,skulls..."
Adhemar: "Shut up! Shut up before I tear your head off, stuff it with explosives and use it as the ugliest grenade in existence!"
I'm not going to lie First Claw and what I've seen so far are what I wanted from Chaos Astarte's
UZAS IS EATING THE GENESEED!
Also, the betrayal at the end… I won’t name who it was here. But man. I felt ABSOLUTE DISGUST at that man. Mostly because I thought he was hilarious and liked him before I knew that!
Nvm. Majorkill explained it as the 2nd person he discussed lol
Night lords omnibus is what got me into reading warhammer besides luetin
Majorkill is turning into Mack from Always Sunny Down Under!
When you apply tactical flaying to a whole worlds population and are regarded a genius for it.
Ahh my favourite marines. I just wished they added another trilogy of the Nightlords to see Decimus rise.
Talos didnt just torture the planet population and the Astropaths then broadcast it, that was only part of the message sent out. the big "Fuck You" to the Imperial Astropaths was Talos making Octavia open her 3rd Navigator Eye to amplify the psychic assault. Since Navigator 3rd eye are deadly to mortals.
It was such a beautiful moment! lol
Oh FUCK YEAH. My lads, Uzas and Xarl!
God damn I need reread this omnibus…absolutely loved it!
Video idea: Do the races pay for their sins in the afterlife in 40K
Superb video as always @majorkill.
Could you make a video dedicated to the Navigators, the major houses, their politics, relation to the overall Imperium and factions, etc?
Imagine a DOW 2 type of campaign, but with the "adventures" of the first claw. I reckon that would be dope af
Cool vid MK, the Night Lords are easily the most interesting traitor legion, to my mind at least. Nice for them to get some love!
Good to see that MK dressed up as Chris Chrisly this episode
Death frisby. That cracked me up
The leader of the Raptors was a great character too
I point blank refuse to subscribe to anyting and my accoutn reflect that, bit the kill god got me. You eearned a sub sir
RIP Argal Tal 😢
10th company would make for some dope majorminis
first 40k books I read. Decimus needs a trilogy of his own!
best books from warhammer, amazing saga, a must read, i hope the give us more night lords books
Hello Majorkill,
Would you please make some lore videos on the Imperial Truth, the Imperial Creed, the Ecclesiarchy, and the High Lords of Terra? Pretty please? Thank you.
Here is hoping that we get more renegades content. The Alpha Legion are kinda like this too and have some pretty sweet lore in the 41st millennium. But the real lesson here is that Jenza will fuck your shit up.
One thing A,D,B did right about first claw is the want to be a hero anti-hero story for some of the squad to make them relateable. As no one wake up and want to be the villain or the bad guy but is usually forced to due to circumstances in . As some of them wanted to be a hero or more then just soilder in legion from their gang member roots on Nostronmo. Now if other marine and chaos marine novels give this level of insight and care for character development then they be great and not just one dimenional for a personality. The word Bearer onibus does a good job making that legion likeable as a villain to .
I haven't read a good traitor legion book in awhile honestly. You'd recommend the Word Bearers? I actually don't know that much about them.
@@Dugrath When it come to traitor legion novels A.D.B is one of the better writers that make their books interesting. For novels : Night Lord Triology , Word Bearer onibus , Iron Warrior Onibus , Black Legion series ( A.D.B have done book 1 and 2 and is on book 3) ,Ahriman onibus( thousandson) , Fablius Bile Onibus , Reneged: Harrowmaster and Horus Heresy short stories from the traitors. My favorite Night lord novel in 30k is the novel prince of crow and the long night , as these books you get to see alot of Servatar .
Most of the time traiitor legion they do not get the the love they deserve . As they are usually treated as a one dimensional villain in marine or novels about the Imperium. When it come writers it is hit or miss how some writer like to portray chaos marine when not as as a villain only. When writen well you want the traitor to win for the bad hand of fate they had since the Horus Heresy . Definetly read anything by A.D.B and you will apreciate the traitors more and get the traitor legion point of view .
@@donald9377 Would also recommend Lords of Silence (Death Guard), great insight in how 40K DG go about business and what they think of it, and Shroud of Night (Alpha Legion), Traitors being practical and reacting to Primaris. Reread both several times.
@@donald9377 Oh I'm aware haha. ADB is crushing it. I do have the first heretic to read yet, I finished Fabius Bile recently and I'm still (paintently) waiting for the last black legion book by ADB. I've had my eye on the Ahriman Omnibus, but was kind of unsure about it and if the Word Bearers is good maybe I'll give that spin. I havn't really read anything from the HH so prince of crow and long knight I'll have to look those up!
Also I totally agree with you. The traitor legions don't get as much love, this was why the Night Lord trilogy is probably my favorite of all time. He made me sympathetic to them, I wanted them to succeed and win! Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it!
@@collecter343 I have seen Lord of Silence, definitely one I have wanted. I like the Death Guard Lore. Maybe I should for sure get that one. Shroud of Night look interesting as well. I know very little of the Alpha Legion.
Boom first like and comment you sir are the reason I ever got into warhammer you've made it funny and easy to understand thank you man
Ever since reading ADBˋs Nightlords trilogy, I wanted to paint marines in that scheme. Legions Imperialis is probably going to fill that void 😊
Awesome recap, thank you for sharing!
A video of the top ten community wholesome made moments would be great
Merry Christmas: Half year of viewing, now a subscriber to help you reach your goal.
I didn’t know most of that! Another great video!!! And I didn’t know any of the chaos SM had kids!?! I knew about two of the armies you were building but I didn’t know you did the 3 army bundle lol It’s all good! I did the same thing!!! Necrons, Orks and SM! But my SMs are SOTP with a few of the successor chapter leading the fight!!!
It was never 100% stated that decimus was octavias son. But it does make sense.
