You mean the unbelievably amazing Goldfinger frontman and punk icon? You have no idea what youre talking about. He's been making punk rock since before you were born.
Goldfinger is generic. A punk icon would be Johnie Rotten or Darby Crash not John Feldman. Try listening to some Voidoids, or Sex Pistols before you talk about punk.
I am surprised you didn't mention Feldmann - the root cause of "over-produced" and "woahoah". The reason this album sucks, is because they trusted a shitty songwriter/producer. Just my opinion.
Mark's produced band's before, and did the best job. Motion City Soundtrack (Commit This To Memory), New Found Glory (Not Without A Fight) - Both of which, in my opinion again, are better albums than this one. Then again, even Blink-182's Neighbourhoods is a better album than this one, in terms of songwriting and production... And overall feeling :)
I can't actually say terrible producer (As he produced some of my favourite Used albums) I'd say he's a shitty songwriter compared to Hoppus/DeLonge even Skiba. Some ideas are just a buzzkill for the album. But that's just this one album. He put Blink182 right in the driver's seat of the 5SoS soccer mom mini van. It's probably what the label wanted. Otherwise Feldmann wouldn't have been in the picture from the start. Mark should have never let Feldman work on any actual material/lyrics/guitars. Not being selfish. Just want it too be ALL Blink :)
I want the NOT GOOD reviews to burn. He completely spoils the review and on top of that he doesn't even give it a rating. I miss it when he gave albums below a 5.
I thought the album was decent as well, but I liked him giving records under 5. The not good reviews seem a little bit half-assed. Understandable you may not wanna listen to "not good" records enough to give a full-fledged review, but come onnnn!!!!!!!!!
+Dillan Gunter it's a carbon copy of Future. Idk how people can condone someone straight up stealing someone's style. But hey, it's all opinion, so if people are enjoying it, good job Desiigner

Dude, the most hype songs weren't even finished. The MOST fucking hype, hard as shit song was only like 37 fucking seconds long before it cuts out of nowhere. Desiigner should be a 2 because he steals from someone's style. He only gets a 2 because it's enjoyable. I listen to it, I actually like it...but I do not respect him for it. Which is so fucking weird.

sorry for my other comment, I thought you were talking about this album and not the style of the videos. If you were talking about the album, fuck you, this was horrible.
Travis Turner in 2018, it's become more playable, at least casually. I don't know how well a festival would work now but I hope it does at all. The only thing that's changed so far is that they're on gen 4 now and the gym system has changed. You can also catch legendaries through missions. The game expects you'd travel the whole world playing it and while it does have its dedicators, there's the thing. It's not that essential of a technology that everyone has time to dedicate the needed time to experience everything there is. It's just a fun game to get people together.
+Rball Bucks blink-1eighty-too-old-for-this. Sounds like the producer just went back to neighborhoods to get a feel for their sound, but most of the time forgot he wasn't producing for 5sos or ATL.
The main problem with Blink 182 is that the bulk of their music hinged on the very flimsy gimmick that they were young, cool, and hip. So it was excusable for them to write dumb and catchy music about teen angst, shitting your pants, and fucking a dog. When they hit the scene, it was young dudes speaking to a generation of young dudes. They were essentially the kings of pop punk - a genre that was fun to listen to and it didn't try to challenge your brain. It was colorful and had character. Fast forward twenty five years and it's just a bunch of old men, my dad's age, writing the same absurd lyrics in an era where pop punk is long dead. Blink 182, like so many other has been bands, capitalized on a genre when it was the thing to listen to. They didn't try to propel themselves into a new artistic direction or take their music to the next level. Now they've found themselves drowning in a stagnant pool of cringe, trying to keep their heads afloat with the same music, instead of accepting their washed up fate. "Save your breath I'm nearly bored to death and fading fast" is what I wish I could tell Mark Hoppus and the rest of the band so they can finally call it quits.
this is 4 years old but I think their untitled record is pretty left field and far more mature compared to their works prior. So I do think that album was their attempt to propel them next level quality and sound wise
Say what you want, but Im totally with Fantano on this one. Way too cleanly produced, robotic vocals, and the only songs I enjoyed were Cynical, Bored to Death, and The Only Thing That Matters (mainly because its the only song where Matt Skiba actually sounds recognizable from his work with Alkaline Trio). Easily their worst album, and it doesnt seem like they will ever peak higher than the self-titled
John Fazio Maybe not commercially but its the perfect example of maturity without mediocrity; they grew up and experimented with dynamics and sounds without sacrificing what made them enjoyable in the first place. I like this whole "It's Not Good" thing you're doing. Pop-punk is tough to make interesting or relevant. But this album doesn't even lift a finger to try. Travis doesn't even bother to jazz up his beats with this band anymore... he just hopes the touring is lucrative. And the melodies are beyond generic. This album explores nothing.
+iequalztehgod No, I'm not saying that I'm better, or that Travis isn't a skilled or talented musician. You can tell he's not into the project.
I agree completely with this review, and it makes me feel bad for Mark Hoppus. Like a lot of bands (Beatles, System of a Down, Eagles, and so on) the contrast between Tom and Mark is what made their albums so likeable.
+MegaCrasherMusic The Ramones are a pop punk band. Well, bubblegum would be the proper term, they never claimed it was otherwise. Again, my point was more "It's not because it's called punk that it actually is."
+MegaCrasherMusic Nah, don't worry about it, I just made a silly comment after all. I just tend to have that high regard for a punk music devote of commercial motives, purely about the music. Which is why, although they are considered by most as punk, I put The Ramones in the Pop-Punk basket. A basket which I don't necesseraly appreciate, at least not nearly as much as my lousy local punk bands.
I get what he's saying. Simply saying you're a punk band doesn't really make it so. Listen to some pop rock and no one really bats an eye, listen to an extremely similar band but call it pop punk and all the sudden it's so cool and alternative. It's a really gimmicky aesthetic and I never got the appeal of pop punk honestly.
"I just tend to have that high regard for a punk music devote of commercial motives, purely about the music." I've never understood this mentality, which seems prevalent within the metal community as well. So if someone just happens to have an appreciation or talent for melody and this results in their music being more melodic, that automatically means they are somehow sacrificing some quality of the music for the sake of commercial appeal? Is it not possible for someone to have a genuine passion for music, and by pure coincidence it has commercial appeal?
It's "domesticated" punk much like pop country doesn't sound like real country. There is a difference between punk rock about killing one's former girlfriend and pop punk about having a cry after a breakup. The music is a lot more polished too. Try three chords while on heroin and you'll get a more realistic punk sound.
sounds like a mainstream metal band trying to do underground metal .. decent blast beats sometimes but mostly just singing and in-authentic sentiment, cliches and generic guitaring.
Oh man, you crack me up. This band has helped to spawn an entire genre and culture surrounding it. Don't know what tracks you've listened to, but I think you should listen to more of their catalogue before dishing out a rather daft judgement like this.
Werner Erkelens I had one of their albums on my ipod a few years and each time a song from it would come on it would be this interesting type of intro and really slamming drums and all the pieces were in place and i thought it was about to be really good but then the singer would be supremely lame on the choruses and certain bits were that hard-guy radio music system of a down tough guy tool horse shit that dudes who wear backwards caps and drive trucks listen to.. it's lame as hell.
+BlackGirlFly I came bc I like Anthony but I was just saying that jeez don't be a little bitch about it....we comment what we want to see and he provides....that's the fucking point so stfu and don't get all butt hurt
Bless! I'm so glad someone agrees! Everyone is so defensive about California. Like "it's really good, they are finally themselves!". Like cool. I'm glad they're doing what they want but it's not good! And I think like Mcr they should gracefully let blink go with its excellent history of good music.
This album was when I realized how often I "like" an album just because the production is enjoyable. I found the percussion snappy and beefy and the guitars had a tone I enjoyed so it was like I just enjoyed the album in the way that I'd enjoy rubbing a soft set of bedsheets.
I felt the same way but when you dont have a summertime party vibe it's a bunch of boring generic pop punk. Jerry finn was such a good producer and added so much of blinks iconic sound. So when they get a new producer he just produces generic babble. And Nine? Oh my God that album sucks so much. Literally the most uncreative garbage I've ever heard.
Bro I love this album so much I get why it’s been revived terrible but i person have so many good memories traveling though California while listening to this album, and it’s one of my fav albums of 2016. But i 100 percent totally understand it’s hate.
It’s probably because you didn’t have much experience the genre. I understand the feeling, but objectively the songs are very generic. Throw it up in a random 2010s Pop-punk mix, and you can never make out it’s by blink-182. That is a bad thing for a band like them, who single handed spearheaded the genre to the mainstream in their prime. By the amount of iconic songs they’ve put out, albums like this just feel lazy and uninspiring. It’s like they know their market power, so they didn’t even try. Because it’s gonna be popular anyway no matter what they put out.
This is probably one of the few times I'm gonna have to disagree. I find myself enjoying the album and I had low expectations after Ton left. I feel Matt brought some life into blink again. But I do have to agree the "whoas" and "na na na's" are very annoying. Btw, do you plan on reviewing Chevelle's new album "The North Corridor"
I'm a Huge fun of Blink, and I'm sad to say that I agree with most of the things you just said though I don't even dare to say them or sometimes even think about them :/ Some part of me just wants to wait a couple of years so that they come up with a Better album
+Whippybox_grHD! one of the corniest bands to ever exist. I remember the hysteria around that American Idiot album and it made me gag as a teen, let alone now. They literally have songs called 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams' - as trite and self-parody as I could possibly imagine. Its funny their frontman pisses and moans about Justin Bieber when his music is 'Justin Bieber' for a whole other audience. (ofc this is all opinions and if you like them then a big 👍 for you)
+Juanni sounds great with the exception of one or two tracks and maybe a feature. Also, Anthony is probably gonna say it's limited lyrically to certain topics
It's a step up from Neighborhoods which felt like a sad attempt at a more intimate record, but anything is a step up from that. It's bland, there's nothing new at the table, it's too polished, and it's the same shit they've been pulling since 2003.
Are you kidding me... Neighborhoods is more polished than California? You're crazy. Also Neighborhoods had a few good tracks, wishing well, kaleidoscope, natives, etc. Nothing on California isn't a sick imitation of their older music and is the definition of bringing nothing new to the table. Every lyric on that record is a stale cliche its not even funny, Neighborhoods at least had some artistic integrity
Well someday you might look back on your time listening to this album and think "that was a fucking great time" or "that was the time on my life" you never know. I think you're a little bit too passionate about listening and not enough feeling.
I liked it. The problem with Anthony is that he judges albums based on when they were made. If this had been made in the late 90s or early 2000s, he would have liked it a little bit more
Idk about that, I'd say he'd dislike it regardless it's his opinion which is fair but what I don't like about this video is he's basically shitting on people's opinions of enjoying this record
Honestly I was a bit skeptical about a Blink album not having Tom. However, Matt Skiba, (bar the constant "na"s and "oh"s) did manage to save this album's enjoyable nature (for me) almost as much as Tom. Travis always kills it. But without Matt this could have easily been another +44 album (and I do like +44) Definitely not Enema of The State or self-titled, but I thought it was pretty good. That's just me, I think this album may have been better with Tom not because Matt's bad because he's great, it's just I feel like Matt doesn't get to have much say in the band, it feels very Mark-fronted. Tom seemed to steer them away from ideas like having a producer and stuff.
Longtime blink fan. I'd give it a 6. I think Skiba is doing well but they're using a method that plays it safe due to fear of alienating the fans anymore with his inclusion. I know the album isn't art but I enjoy jamming to it anyway. It's catchy what can I say?
Whoever is doing your writing, if it's you or not, this is good stuff. Humor! I like all your reviews but I will say ( and you may know this) your "negative" reviews are very entertaining, Ant. You are the only thing on youtube I can tune into and feel like I've know you and your a "friend". Keeping it real every time.
Tom delonge is a musical genius, so of course he cannot be replaced and the album will always receive hate for that. I think the album for what it is. Doesn't compare to Angels and airwaves though
As a long time blink fan, this review is painfully accurate. Even with Nine somehow being just as bad if not worse this album just stung more bc it was the first one without Tom and there was so much anticipation and it was just so bleh. I do think you ignored some of the more salvageable songs like cynical, San Diego, and parking lot.
*Minor threat > blink 182* You can't really compare one of the most iconic popular definitions of punk like minor threat to a washed up commercialized band like blink 182. They shouldn't even be in the same sentence.
The hell you talking about? This literally sounds like a mix of Blink-182 and Alkaline Trio. What did you expect? John Feldy mixed this album the same way he mixes the other pop-punk stuff he does. It is your opinion whether or not to like this album, but your points were just outright idiotic.
I'll be the second person to ask on this video and this will be my second time asking you to do this but, PLEASE REVIEW THE NORTH CORRIDOR by Chevelle!!!
I love this "not good" series, just don't do one on anything I like

I never liked Blink182, what's pop punk anyway? It's Crap!
As a long time Blink fan, I give it a 1.6/10.
+ZAPPED916 you did not say that. 😠
+KillMeKillMe 1.6? Lol
Don't put "NOT GOOD" in the title, you've ruined the suspense about if blink-182 got a 8+ or not
did you really think that a new blink 182 album would ever get anything past 2 stars
I heard from other critics that it was pretty good, honestly, anthony's opinion on it is quite surprising to me.
Which critics exactly?
+The Professional Novice you must be new to The Needle Drop
+shudderfly Yeah I'd like to know too, I love some pop punk but the only critic review I've seen is Pitchfork with a 5.5
I never quite understood how people could put "Pop" and "Punk" together in the first place.
"I just tend to have that high regard for a punk music devote of commercial motives, purely about the music."
I've never understood this mentality, which seems prevalent within the metal community as well.
"fastest cringe"
LMFAO
Review ''Periphery III - Select difficulty'' when it drops please! :)
YES
sounds like a mainstream metal band trying to do underground metal .. decent blast beats sometimes but mostly just singing and in-authentic sentiment, cliches and generic guitaring.
Oh man, you crack me up. This band has helped to spawn an entire genre and culture surrounding it. Don't know what tracks you've listened to, but I think you should listen to more of their catalogue before dishing out a rather daft judgement like this.

Werner Erkelens
I had one of their albums on my ipod a few years and each time a song from it would come on it would be this interesting type of intro and really slamming drums and all the pieces were in place and i thought it was about to be really good but then the singer would be supremely lame on the choruses and certain bits were that hard-guy radio music system of a down tough guy tool horse shit that dudes who wear backwards caps and drive trucks listen to.. it's lame as hell.
This album was made for blink fans and I freaking enjoyed it!
Sandra Benitez maybe underage blink fans lmao
also did not like this review bc it's not about schoolboy q
fr I just came here to comment that
*Also did not like tHis review bc it's not about ScHoolboy Q*
+Jaylen Craddock Then fucking wait until you see the review in your subscription feed! Don't fucking click a video just to bitch. Ya bish.
+BlackGirlFly I came bc I like Anthony but I was just saying that jeez don't be a little bitch about it....we comment what we want to see and he provides....that's the fucking point so stfu and don't get all butt hurt
Jaylen Craddock Butthurt? Nah I came here to watch *this* video. You're the butthurt one. Be patient.
No question their worst.
It sucks
*cough cough* Neighborhoods *cough cough*
Yeah, Neighborhoods is good, much better California.
Bless! I'm so glad someone agrees! Everyone is so defensive about California. Like "it's really good, they are finally themselves!". Like cool. I'm glad they're doing what they want but it's not good! And I think like Mcr they should gracefully let blink go with its excellent history of good music.
1. Enema (10/10)
2. blink-182 (9/10)
3. TOYPAJ (8/10)
4. Dude Ranch (8/10)
5. Neighborhoods (6/10)
6. Cheshire Cat (6/10)
7. California (1/10)
0:00-0:04 there it is
but seriously though, my highlight for this new album is the youtube comment "whats it like to still be in highschool at 40"
This album was when I realized how often I "like" an album just because the production is enjoyable. I found the percussion snappy and beefy and the guitars had a tone I enjoyed so it was like I just enjoyed the album in the way that I'd enjoy rubbing a soft set of bedsheets.
hmm... i enjoyed this album. Just my opinion.
Same
fuck your opinion
+DVRTY RVG LVRD that's what I tell people who complain about Anthony's rating of mdtbf
+DVRTY RVG LVRD that's what I tell people who complain about Anthony's rating of mdtbf
Rashotcake blink 182
I like the record but that's because I accept what it is and have zero expectations. 7/10 for me. "Left Alone" is a great track.
Agreed
agreed
It's a decent album if you want garbage.
+Tellmeimaninja lool isn't everyone already over California by now?? lma
I fuckin hope so
"Brohemian Rhapsody" is my ringtone since 2016
Gonna be honest- I actually really like this album. It just feels like summer, ya know?
Charlotte Bobgan For real. The album just came out at the perfect time. The deluxe version of the album adds a lot of good tracks as well
I felt the same way but when you dont have a summertime party vibe it's a bunch of boring generic pop punk.
Because it’s gonna be popular anyway no matter what they put out.
most of the lyrics on this album sound like they were written by Bryan Stars
Ally hahahahaha fr
havoren it’s good that he hasn’t made a video in like a year
generic and boring/10
I like this NOT GOOD segment.
I'm a Huge fun of Blink, and I'm sad to say that I agree with most of the things you just said though I don't even dare to say them or sometimes even think about them :/
Some part of me just wants to wait a couple of years so that they come up with a Better album
Probably not going to happen...
It happened
when you compare it to Weezer's last album that was so inspired and had heartfelt lyrics it does fall incredibly short.
listen to Mr. Bungle's California instead.
Green Day's, "Time of Your Life" isn't a bad song! :(
Overplayed as fuck though.
this is my fvorite song of all time fuck you
Green Day are/were/always will be unholy trash tbf
+JebaJebaJemeh
WHAT THE FUCK?! GREEN DAY IS AWESOME! STOP TRYING TO BE A HIPSTER
(ofc this is all opinions and if you like them then a big 👍 for you)
Score Predictions for blank face?
I'm saying 8
How's that? I haven't listened to it yet
not, for this sensual nerd is more than 5 or 6 , Obviously
He'll probably give it a strong 7 to a light 8
+Juanni sounds great with the exception of one or two tracks and maybe a feature. Also, Anthony is probably gonna say it's limited lyrically to certain topics
+InBrooken that made no sense, man
this album makes me bored to death
It's not the best blink record but come on its not that bad.
It's a step up from Neighborhoods which felt like a sad attempt at a more intimate record, but anything is a step up from that. It's bland, there's nothing new at the table, it's too polished, and it's the same shit they've been pulling since 2003.
Neighborhoods sounded like it came from a band called 44 angels...
+Del tru
I disagree but good video. I think this type of music is just not your thing cuz this album sounds pretty similar to some of their 2000's stuff to me.
Yeah I don't think a lot of skate punk/pop punk gets enough credit tbh I really like it
+Keith Dwyer Me too. I can't really say this is my favorite record but by god are the songs catchy and the lyrics great.
I liked it. The problem with Anthony is that he judges albums based on when they were made. If this had been made in the late 90s or early 2000s, he would have liked it a little bit more
Good point. That must be the reason he hated Blurryface.
Idk about that, I'd say he'd dislike it regardless it's his opinion which is fair but what I don't like about this video is he's basically shitting on people's opinions of enjoying this record
Clearly Mr. Bungle has the superior California record
Code Blaze Fate California by Mr. Bungle is the best record period.
Don't rush the schoolboy review
Tom seemed to steer them away from ideas like having a producer and stuff.
i'll still listen for those travis barker fills. so satisfying
Travis Barker is so overrated lol
@@Slime-Man-Extreme aw it's ok, nobody will think you're overrated
Hot Take/Trigger Warning: Blink-182 and their fans have one thing in common. They refuse to grow up and move on.
well i guess this is growing up
Longtime blink fan. I'd give it a 6. I think Skiba is doing well but they're using a method that plays it safe due to fear of alienating the fans anymore with his inclusion. I know the album isn't art but I enjoy jamming to it anyway. It's catchy what can I say?
Did you just get off the set of a Sopranos reboot?
geeeetouatahea
he tends to drees like that in summer videos
Whoever is doing your writing, if it's you or not, this is good stuff. Humor! I like all your reviews but I will say ( and you may know this) your "negative" reviews are very entertaining, Ant. You are the only thing on youtube I can tune into and feel like I've know you and your a "friend". Keeping it real every time.
Gay
I love this album but I love your perspective too :)
Tom delonge is a musical genius, so of course he cannot be replaced and the album will always receive hate for that. I think the album for what it is. Doesn't compare to Angels and airwaves though
Lol
As a long time blink fan, this review is painfully accurate. Even with Nine somehow being just as bad if not worse this album just stung more bc it was the first one without Tom and there was so much anticipation and it was just so bleh. I do think you ignored some of the more salvageable songs like cynical, San Diego, and parking lot.
NOFX - Whoa on the Whoa's
"That's ageist" lol. Like I agree with the sentiment (being that old bands can still make good music). But that's just a hilarious way of putting it.
Review Land of Pleasure by Sticky Fingers!!!! They are huge in AU but no one knows them in the US but they deserve to be huge
Jerry Cavanagh not really
does this mean you're not going to do negative reviews anymore but put them in your not good series?
In related news, water is wet
Anthony, we want Blank Face.
*Minor threat > blink 182* You can't really compare one of the most iconic popular definitions of punk like minor threat to a washed up commercialized band like blink 182. They shouldn't even be in the same sentence.
Travis Barker is clean at them drums doe. Even if they’re quantized.
Travis is mid. Only reason it sounds good here is cuz everything else is shit 💀💀💀
Careful, you might make ARTV cry
All the songs songs on California sounded like commercial jingles
This. My feelings exactly. Coming from a longtime Blink fan.
THE AUDIO EQUIVALENT OF AIR-BRUSHING! I have needed this explanation forever to express why I hate this sound so much - thank you Anthony!
I really wish they took the direction from Dogs eating Dogs
Review the new Metronomy Album " Summer 08".
i love this album! Shes out of her mind, Home is such a lonely place, Bored to death... i dont see why its a bad album.
I like it to!!!! I really like sober!
i forgot i even posted this comment
Open your ears
I LOVE this album
I liked board to death and she’s out of her mind
A lot of these songs just sounded painfully generic when I previewed the album. Not buying
Fuck I hope that Green Day's new record isn't going to and up like that :/ super hyped for that.
everything after shenanigans was dog shit
James Hodson That's your opinion I thought 21st century Breakdown and American Idiot were great
2007 Mikey Way well you're wrong and i hope you know that
James Hodson I'm not wrong, A subjective opinion can't be wrong...
*everything after american idiot
Best album ever
Lol
SAY IT AIN'T SO......
I WILL NOT GO...
CARRY ME HOME
NANA NANA NANA NANA NA NA
YOUR DRUG IS A HEARTBREAKER
LATE NIGHT, COME HOME
Just a bunch of over produced WOAHS and crap. Makes me sad
I dunno man, I feel like I listened to a different album than you guys cause I thought it was 10/10
Hey, what about rating Trash Boat's "Nothing I Write You Can Change What You've Been Through"? ... Produced by The Wonder Year's singer Dan Campbell.
I loved it, he needs to review it
Review Nine when it comes out.
"If I hear one more 'woah-ooaah', it's gonna be too soon." lol
I Actually really love this album...
too much production and auto tune tho
i like misery
The hell you talking about? This literally sounds like a mix of Blink-182 and Alkaline Trio. What did you expect? John Feldy mixed this album the same way he mixes the other pop-punk stuff he does. It is your opinion whether or not to like this album, but your points were just outright idiotic.
I thought "Maybe this won't be good" and then I heard the album and loved it.
I enjoyed your review more than this album
This album was amazing -just my opinion
Why?
Grumpy Cat Naw it sucked just my opinion over produced and they're old people trying to hard to fit in with younger people with cliches and auto tune
"Not Good" is my favorite series of this channel
I'll be the second person to ask on this video and this will be my second time asking you to do this but, PLEASE REVIEW THE NORTH CORRIDOR by Chevelle!!!
Also I really appreciate this review. I think weather or not ppl wanna admit it...it is not Blink without Tom
