I caught a shiny budew using this method WHILE watching this video!!! I was at 17 chain and it took me like 20 pokeradar resets to get the shiny bush :)

You really should be buying super repels, not max repels. How long it last for how much it costs is way worse for Max repels, and you save a BUNCH of money going for super repels.
I got shiny larvitar at a 40 chain first go and now I can't even get past 12 chain for machop without it breaking so frustrating 😤

I can't even get a chain of 17. The highest I gotten is 12.
Got shiny shinx using this method at 19 chain about 50-52 max repels.
So happy I just hit 40+ on a gastly chain. First shiny was on about 19 chain though.
Alright so from what i've experienced getting 17 chain is the "easiest" way but not always the most usefull method.
If you want multiple go for 40 chain. If you want just one then it depends on your situation.
For example if you reset at 17 you should count about 2-4 (if not more) hours of resetting the chain to get the shiny, while reaching 40 and then resetting is much faster purely counting from the start of the chain untill the 1st shiny. So if youre not in a rush to get the shiny today, just try to chain to 40 once or twice a day and see what happens. If the chain breaks then it breaks, not a big deal. After all resetting at 17 will get you stuck in one spot for possibly hours, you cant do anything else in the game untill you either get it or give up. While you can fail the 40 chain twice and then go do battle tower or berries or whatever else you want to do and then try again later.
So if you want the shiny but dont want to reset hours upon hours just try to chain to 40. Honestly, a 5% chance to reach 40 is still quite high. If you try a couple of times a day you'll probably get it soon.
As for daily swarms going to 17 chain is probably the better option since they only stay for 24hrs. While chaining to 40 and then resetting is faster, thats only if the chain doesnt break. So, in case you have a time limit, getting to 17 and resetting will on average give you a faster shiny than trying to reach 40 unless youre really lucky.
note: This is just my personal opinion about how both methods feel to what i've experienced. In the end it also depends on your luck. You might get a shiny on 17 after resetting 20 times, but it can also be 500 times. Same for the 40 chain. You might get to 40 on your 1st try... or not get a single 40 chain in a week. It all depends on your luck and how determined you are to get the shiny. Though no matter what version of pokeradar you use in the end, when you finally see that sparkle, it'll feel like christmas.

Hey man, do you have any info on the state of glitches in 1.3? Which ones are fixed and which ones still work. I'm staying in 1.2 for now but that basically disables trading for me. (Thanks Gamefreak for making a singleplayer game worse)

@@MrBassoboy No, lol. You don't know what you're talking about. 1, There's no way in hell that "every glitch" would be patched. There are always glitches to take advantage of. and 2, I know of a few that still work. Stop spreading misinformation
However at a chain of 40 you have a good chance to get multiple shinnies if the chain continues allowing you to get more shinnies in less time.
It's worked for me after about 10 resets great method

Went to a chain of 19 last night and did around 540ish resets (had 108 max repels) and never got my shiny 🙂 this is the second time this method has failed me RIP but I’ve also gotten multiple in a day or in the same chain streak (two shiny ponyta one at 17 and the other at 28)

Just did this method. 17 chain then reset the pokeradar. I caught a shiny Ditto then carried on. It's glitched. As soon as I caught the shiny my repel didn't work and I walked into a wingull tried to put another repel on "can't do that because the last one is still active" what's that about?
U probably still had a active repel but just had a low level Pokémon in front of ur party causing u to still encounter Pokémon that are higher level then the one in your party

I literally can’t get past an 18 chain and I’ve tried to do this method for hours with even multiple different mons
Does the shaking of the grass matter? It freaks me out thinking the lower ones are going to break my chain...
What’s up with the Pokémon popping in and out in the grass over there all around you I don’t see that in my game?
Its a horde thats why they show up in the overworld hordes change places and will be different each day
I decided to hunt a shiny Larvitar since my favorite Pokémon is Tyranitar, even though I don’t really like its shiny and I managed to find a hidden ability larvitar building my chain
If you don’t care where you get it and you have USUM, SOS chaining is SO much better than Poké Radar. Guaranteed 4 IVs, high chance of HA, and no risk of randomly breaking your chain. Plus, Shiny Charm works. I think the odds are around 1 in 600 with charm, but once you get it setup it’s essentially free.
Anyway sorry for the randomness. Never played 4th Gen and from my experience with it in BDSP, radar method is just… really _bad._
Sorry off topic, can update affect legendary pokemons? The reason i ask is whem i was trying to get modest zapados it kept relaxed nature for the past 10 to 20 tries.

Idk if you’ll believe me but my mouth is literally agape rn. I did what you asked, went to where a swarm was, used the radar once, got a shinx, decided to reset bc I didn’t have a Pokémon w false swipe, taught it to one real quick, used the radar ONE more time: shiny Magnemite 😂😂

You don't need too, but it gives you extra 10%. That matters when it comes down to it
