Alex Lifeson the guitarist is also a licensed pilot and was flying them back to Toronto. The code came on and it stuck in Neil and Geddy's head. They put together their part of the song and Alex filled in his part later. The guys were always happy to see YYZ on their luggage as it meant they were heading home. Cheers
