  • My wife and I were treated to a cab ride with some friends on the 2816 crew while we were volunteering during the Walk with the Giants fundraiser at the former Rock Island shops in Silvis, Illinois.
We will see steam locomotive veteran Mike Manwiller as the engineer, who is also the Chief Mechanical Officer of the Heber Valley Railroad and Krys Bialorucki as the fireman. the final runby has Steve Sandberg of 261 fame at the throttle with 2816's head engineer, Jonathan Morris and another steam expert, Robert Franzen, looking on.

Wow! Great video!! I’ve been looking for a good cab ride video of 2816 for months! Thanks for sharing!
Might I ask, do you know where the control is for the engine’s Selkirk pneumatic whistle is in the cab? I’ve been curious about that as well

It’s a screw reverse instead of a power reverse like most have. 1225 at the Steam Railroading Institute has the same thing
