Actually no, he’s not pure of heart either. Toriyama specifically said he is not a good person or pure of heart, he just likes fighting and that’s it.

Flying Nimbus can only be ridden by those pure of heart, and Goku took no damage from the devilmite beam, which was stated could end anyone with a drop of evil/impurities. Now, as Goku got older, he is not full pure after many events or when he first transformed into an SS. Here, though, Goku was pure of heart outside being naive.
Toriyama has also contradicted himself several times in the past on several Dragon Ball aspects, besides forgetting things outright like Tao Pai Pai, Launch, etc. He even once in a fan meet in greet a decade ago drew an SS3 Goku when asked to draw an SS2 Goku. The fan was happy but asked why Toriyama drew SS3 Goku? Toriyama reply was, "That isn't SS2?" So, did Toriyama state this in a convention or interview that you speak of? Again, I was just curious when Toriyama said that and how that figures with flying Nimbus and the devilmite beam?...

@@VanTesla Nimbus actually doesn’t care about “pure of heart” it was mistranslated from “passionate” that’s why Gohan and Chi Chi could ride on it. Chi Chi wasn’t pure of heart, she was just passionate about Goku. Goku is passionate about fighting. Gohan is passionate about his father. Etc
And regardless of what Toriyama contradicts on other occasions, it wasn’t just the one interview. Toriyama has been frustrated with the portrayal of Goku in the anime since the beginning and even said that Super was how he was always meant to be portrayed. Selfish and immature.
@@worldwaide Doesn't explain Devilmite beam, and I've never in my thirty years heard the Flying Nimbus as "passionate" that doesn't even make sense given that Bulma is a passionate person herself and couldn't ride it. Master Roshi was passionate about women and couldn't ride it, and he could ride it when he was younger and supposedly focused on other things/not thinking of lecherous acts.
I know Toriyama didn't like the portrayal of Goku in early English dubs in Z, where the lines were altered more drastically in English, hated Evolution live action movie, and outside lending artwork didn't care for GT. Heck, most of the Super Goku portrayal wasn't even by Akira Toriyama and by his protege Toyotarou. The last significant thing he generally wrote for Goku, if I recall, was for the Superhero movie. The Manga adaptation later on after Grenolah/Gas Arc was by Toyotarou.

I really admire Goku’s wishes because he’s not greedy or selfish when it comes to money. Because in Dragonball super Hercule offers Goku $10 million dollar zenie and Goku didn’t want the money. So whenever Goku gets money he gives it away. In Dragonball he gives it to the prostitute for helping him find the police officer and from Dragonball super he gives the money to ChiChi. In my opinion, when Goku has money he uses it either for food or to give it away to his family and friends. Goku is so cool that’s why he’s always going to be my number 1 favorite character in Dragonball Z.

Goku in Dragon Ball was pure and innocent. Goku in DBS is a self centered ahole. I feel like Goku after Frieza became an impure human being, whereas, after Frieza, Vegeta became a better and better person, to the point where, in DBS, Vegeta cares way more about family and friends than Goku. Gohan is the pure one.
Goku became more Saiyan-like and Vegeta became more human, haha.
And somehow Goku in OG Dragonball has a higher kill count then Z, Super and GT put together.
