Very useful tip has mine has started to vibrate very badly at what appears to be the head gearbox, I will definitely try this before buying a new head. Just a thought though is there any way you can get grease into the actual bevel gears.
I have a Shindawa Straight solid shaft that vibrates. I cleaned the shaft of any grease, which I hear is usually the problem. It didn't help. I repalced the shaft. Still vibrates. WTH.... Could it be thous bushings you mentioned.
i have shindaiwa weed eater shaking bad I didn't think any of these ideas would be the cause I just clean the head outside part with wire brush fixed cya
Hi, I have 20cc and 23cc maruyama trimmers. One gear head hardly get hot even after a long run yet my 23cc one, gear head gets hot within seconds. Both machines are in good condition and lubricated. What do you think the reason is ? Thanks.
Brand new off the sales floor my SRM-225 has so much vibration it causes my employee’s hand to go numb within 10-15 minutes of use. Their hands are numb well after the work day and into the night. I do not experience hand numbing when I use it; however, there is more vibration in this unit than even my first crappy Ryobi 30cc I bought used off of Flea-bay 13 years ago. I should have ponied up the extra cash and bought a Stihl trimmer, which I will be doing next month after I pay some bills. I will probably end up selling this Echo on Fleabay to anyone willing to buy a lightly used trimmer for 20-25% less than sticker price.
Hey! Great vid! I have an Echo Pas 230. Lots of vibration from the head...not continuous but definitely a lot. Is there a bearing in the part where the string spool attaches to? Was online but I haven't been able to find a blowup of it. Thanks much! Hope you aren't shut down by your state!
There is bearings in the gear head, but most of the vibration issues come from balance issues. If one string is shorter than the other, if the cutting head is not centered on the shaft, or the cutting head is out of balance. What head do you have on it?
@@blakebahrns5402 bless you! Thanks for your response! It is the OE one. Sadly I've owned it for five years and ive never greased the drive cable or whatever it's called. I unfortunately left it out on my deck not covered all winter long (Pa) and went to start it. Starting cable wouldn't budge! I suspected hydraulic lock.. And it was. Anyway, I thank you much! TC!
Simple and informative no loud music👍🏼
For that we can always be thankful.
Great tip. After overheating and rattling near the crankshaft I tried your suggestion and solved problem right away. Thnx again.
Is there a plastic liner covering flex cable? I'm still having issues after Greasing.thank you for a great video
What do you use to lubricate it? Just the grease that's already on?

One question. Can a stihl gear head fit on an echo 220?

May want to check for bearing wear in the gearbox. Mine had one that chipped and was not spinning smoothly. If so, they can be replaced.
Yes the bushings can and do wear out

Thank You for the video, this worked like a charm!
Thanks for the tip. I shall try this out on a dinosaur of a strimmer I was gifted 😂
Great video my man!!

Friction from something rubbing
Too much grease can cause it to get hot
My dad’s maruyama gear case blew up lol
Thank You.Great Info.Richard.

Yeah I'm experiencing the same thing in going to get the echo srm20620T it can greased and is more powerful and better built
Thank you!!! Having same issue
Can I put solid shaft in echo instead of flex cable?
Ever find out?
How often should I do this for general maintenance?
I service mine once a year. However, I have a small yard.
Grease what type?

thanks for the tip bud. I Appreciate it.
MR. thansk so much. usefull tips. greeting from panama507.
Yes, I have some questions. How is it possible that this stupid procedure solves vibrations on the trimmer?
is it the same for a stihl
Step 1 and 2 are different for Stihl... Step 1: throw the Stihl in trash can. Step 2: buy an Echo.
@@dontblameme6328 hahahaha 😂😂😂
Yes
The source of the vibration on mine seems to originate from the motor, even in idle. I'll give this a shot though. Thanks!
LBO were you able to fix it with this tip?
Thank you very much
What could it be if it wasn't that
Well done.
Thanks man!!!
