- Bad Chad continues fabricating the framework for the floor while Nathan tackles the driveshaft. Since we changed rear ends, the original driveshaft won't work anymore. So instead of buying a step-joint, Nathan is going to swap yokes to accommodate the bigger u-joint on the rear end. BONUS video: • Modifying the drivesha...

Chad confuses constructive criticism with hatred.
A tape measure might be a handy tool to use once in awhile.. Just sayin...
A square as well.
Your a day late. He used a tape measure yesterday and there was confusion.
He was using one yesterday but it isn’t always needed. I mean he has been building a lot of years.
It's too bad you don't have any welding gloves or a helmet. If you did, you probably wouldn't get cut, burned, or go blind in a few years for squinting when you tack.
You do know the drive shaft angle should be 3 degrees or less? Otherwise it will VIBRATE itself apart! 😮
Chad has build dozens of hot rods. Pretty sure he’s got this.
Yeah, the original bracing was an X frame and allowed lower set of the box. This looks very severe.
How are you going to adjust the pinion angle for the rear end? And how arenyou going to adjust the front axle 5 to 7 degrees?
Leave the Job for Super Nate to resolve
Watch and learn.
That's quite a severe driveshaft angle?
@@southernhellstorm6634bullshit
@@scubafever282828really you can tell the angle from a camera shot, LOL Don’t think so.
Get some pocket T shirts with the company logo. And start clipping the mic on the pocket
Great idea !
I was looking for a comment like that because that what I was thinking long thin one you can put your glasses in and clip a microphone great idea
Looks like you may have a problem with the pinion angle for the driveshaft not sure but you’ll figure it out
Drive shaft angle should be only 3°
@@Bobsteven881 Nate will sort out the angle of the driveshaft
Then there is the carburetor flange angle ? Cant see, but I imagine the intake manifold is designed for the engine to angle down in back for a better drivetrain alignment ? Put a level on the intake carb flange and check it out. Really could make the floor easier to lower the tranny?
It will be fine when they are done. This has a 100 hp flatty, racing at 60 mph.
The pinion angle has been bugging me but I’m hoping he either has a plan or will be adjusting later 😂
How do you drop trans if anything would happen to it. Cross member is welded in.
You just burn it for the insurance…
Pull the motor and trans, or make the tunnel removable and pull it from the inside, not that big of a deal, it’s been done both ways before
Cut the crossmember, remove the trans. Not rocket science.
Temporary for fabrication work to proceed. He has already mention it previously.
@@southernhellstorm6634snd you love watching. Your what they call an arm chair builder LOL
How do you remove the transmission after the body is on
Pull the motor
@@southernhellstorm6634I agree with you also how are they going to install the drives haft I know install it 1st then put in the engine and transmission together
Maybe a big set of hinges on the rear to make it like a funny car body
@@robbiesmith6417 yup and he would use door hinges from a house door
Great idea…. Oh yeah, somebody’s going to need to remove it!
Same with seat and seat belt bracing….
Doh ..its hard to tell what I am doing when I don't know myself .When you get up in the morning I bet you say SORRY SHOES I AM GOING TO STAND ON YOU AGAIN 🙃🙃😂
The best way to watch this is by muting the sound. Lots of annoying noises, although I enjoy Fina barking and when Chad stops to use a grinder.
Best way to watch it is to just WATCH IT … no one cares about your feelings😂😂
Just take off them hearing aids and don't worry about it!
Every time I see that transmission, I think you need to drop it down. From the video, the motor and transmission seem like they need to point down at least 4°. That top universal will have a severe angle to it, which might cause excessive vibration.
That part for the speedometer cable that you took off reduces the speedometer rpm for the cable if you run a high rear end. That's what that is for. There are different ratios depending on the part number. Sometimes the ratio is on the outside.
Yippeeee something worth watching Nath is in the house
He gotta be glad to have Nate there cause without him he would be screwed cause he obviously don’t know what he is doing. A few things he is good at but not many. Way overrated.
Have you seen the episode where Nate cuts a car apart and builds it from scratch? No? Me neither.
Among other things on the front and rear end, I see no way to adjust pinion angle on the rearend for proper driveline phasing.... . There's only one pivot on the rear hairpins..... should be interesting. (might vibrate like crazy if the rearend and transmission are in equal and opposite angles... rearend up, trans down.)
Watch and learn.
I’m glad you listen to the masses and do this clunker justice!
Making progress pm the '35. I like it for sure. That flathead will sound great.
What’s up with that triangulation? That frame is not square…
It will be fine for how it will be used.
They straightened the frame best they could but they never measured anything si they basically made it fit on that table. That doesn’t necessarily make the frame straight.
I'm certain that it's way straighter than your Prius going down the road and hitting bumps!
Ha ha ha ho not
It’s probably as straight as a 33 Plymouth frame ever was lol.
Straight enough. These coupes were stock car raced back in the day, repeatedly crashed and pounded out and raced some more. Little vintage drag races won't be an issue.
Wondering why you spot weld so much instead of a continuous bead????
Your doing a good job bad Chad
Well the shocks are not upside down!!
Chad needs a good chop saw for metal. It would cut down on using grinder blades. Nates getting the drive shaft taken care of.
I saw it coming. Heck, Ray Charles coulda seen it coming! To be honest though, I burn myself the same way all the time. That’s actually why I could see it coming.🥴
Doesn't take long to look at a hot piece of metal. "Is it hot? Yep, it's hot!"
Go for it Team Hiltz 👁 🐅 👌
Hey the engine is higher in the back than the front the trans mount needs lowered a bit. Judging from the video looks to be an inch and half two inches that would help you lower the floor a little bit.
Just a suggestion for you Jolene, epoxy a magnet to the microphone and put another magnet behind Chad‘s shirt to hold it on. You can get pretty small rare earth magnets that would be plenty strong.
The build is looking good. 👍🇨🇦
BOXSTATE COLORADO. 719 PUEBLO SPRING LOADED DRIVE SHAFT LIKE US LOWRIDER GUYS USE. AMERCA NUMBER 1. YEYE.
Ha, all yous guys crying about the driveshaft angle. Don't sweat it. The project will never get that far (actually a driver) They never do. 😅
Is this going to be for the flat head races in The states?
It's great that you have the confidence and enthusiasm to tackle projects like this. Your quick and easy straight crossmember under your transmission is a poor engineering decision. The height you chose for your engine and tranny sets their center of gravity above the framework of the vehicle. Engineers lowered the engine and tranny into the framework of vehicles to improve their suspension, steering and handling capabilities, especially at high speeds. When the center of gravity is closer to the road surface, the vehicle turns and operates more efficiently making it safer to drive. Something to think about on your next build.
Where are you going to put the gas tank Chad?
Meant to say rearend and transmission have to be in equal but opposite angles.
Hi guys. Could the rear of the gearbox be lowered slightly?
oh happy day. you finally swapped out the front tires on that chassis. those tires were driving me nuts. thank you chad. lol.
How do you get the transmission out ?
Seriously?
The floor supports, are they symmetrical about centerline of vehicle, doesn’t appear to be.
The floor frame and the driveshaft are really coming together . Chad is great at figuring out things and builds the new floor frame on the fly. Nate is doing a great job on the driveshaft. It'll be interesting how Nate balances it in the car. Great video today as well Jolene .Enjoy your coffee out.
Yup for sure he will have put the drive shaft in 1st then the engine and transmission
Good job you all have a great day see ya tomorrow out .
Do you put añy kinda rubber mounts in-between the floor and frame.
Bad chad mentioned the way trucks twist as the go through dips will that suspension not frame.
Just want to say hi to Jolene and Chad and Nathan. Hope you all are having a blessed day keep up the good work. You are going to get pos and neg views so Chad do it your way and be satisfied. God bless and have a blessed evening and night
Haven't you heard there are 3 ways of doing things the right way wrong way and Chad's way
How big will the footwell be for the brake, clutch and accelerator pedals going to be?
Better weld up the rear Trak-Bar (Panhard) brackets before you can't get at them.
Love this build but wish the stright axle was flipped for gasser style
Loving the cheater slicks.🔥
how about a square? or an adjustable bevel square to take the guess work out oh and a tape measure.
Some body help me he painted this car i seen it once i can't find it i want to know what color its called too
Another great video. I sure do enjoy all of your content. Thank You.
Front shocks will not work. Not enough travel. will need to get shorter ones.
Don't know about there, but here the price of steel is rediculous.
Put your welding hood on Chad. What's more important than your eyes?
Reminds me of the Vietnamese guys building "replicars" on Nhet-TV.
lol. Nate talking to himself again.
All that square stock has got to be adding up cost wise.
It's all worth it to have the extra strength in the frame and floor because Jolene is going to race this car
It does. But he will cheap his way with spray glue and cardboard interior. And peel and stick chrome.
Happy Birthday to Nate! And many more!
Now is the time to get your master and pedals going to be steering box
this aught to be interesting
Panhard bar needs to be parallel to the axels, front and back.
Bad Chad you and I have a lot in common brother, the welding, fabrication, making shit from scratch, do all the body work prep and paint.
Do you have to be 5 Feet tall or shorter to be able to sit in this car? or are you cutting a hole in the roof to stick your head out?
With his chops and engineering, it's always questionable how uncomfortable (pain-in-the-neck) and unsafe his creations would be to drive. This thing will be as bare bones as any because it only will be driven straight down an eighth or quarter of a mile track a few times for it's brief existence before it's retired. The top speed might be 40-45 mph so it's not too stressful.
Dazed and confused
Sorry to hear that.
I am not following why Chad is adding a frame on top of the frame he just finished
It's structure for the floor and body
SORRY IM LATE TODAY. I'm really enjoying this build.

good show Chad😎👍
you have all sorts of c clamps use them
Great to see the whole team together today
You. Should. Get. Some. Welding. Glass.
Hi fina.
Why such a wide tunnel?
@@Welder-y5x😂
He has a bad pinion angel on the driveshaft it's going to put a lot of stress on the u joints
Stress from 100 horse flatty? Not so much.
Mad Chad. Good luck buddy. 🍻
Exciting, how it’s going so far 🤞
hi Chad go for it heat the grinder👍
Maybe you could try gluing a clothespin to the microphone, so you can attach it to your t-shirt. Or you could even use a couple magnets.
Great work guys 😎👍
Why can't Nate and Doug take off their microphones when they are not directly involved in the current shot? Just having amplified banging and grinding in the "foreground" is one reason why I sometimes just MUTE the sound and do "silent-movie" watching. I'm also noticing the pinion angle on the axle looks like it would be good to tilt the trans and engine down in back to match up better. Let me mention front end "caster" as well. If there's no way to shim the desired caster into the front axle, it's going to shimmy like your sister Kate, or at least refuse to return to center after you make a turn.
Matt from matt's garage here keep up the good work keep them rods alive do your thing, personally for a race car id have the engine and trans low and as far as possible back for a well handeling racer i do get youll line up rear end etc when shell is on just my 2cents...
Hey Chad and Jolene how are you doing today my friend I love watching our RUclips videos they are very educational videos and keep up the good work and I want to learn how to welled and I love the content in the videos
will the body fit over that ?
I believe it will. But if not I'm sure he'll make adjustments where necessary. But keep watching to find out
Now that’s another of those “I hope” measurements.
You guys are awesome
maybe you should let nathan make it ?
A hour in the Hiltz shop, is always educational and fun, Thankyou to team Hiltz (Fina)❤️
Hay Chad don't put a floor in the trunk just live it open so you can show off the rear end fuel tank up above the diff
I'm sitting here watching Chad work on supporting the floor for the new hot rod and it donned on me that I haven't mentioned enough how much work you guy's have done and are still doing on your shop appearance. I have to give Chad an Jolene a big "Congratulations" for the motivation and determination for all the improvements, not to mention all the building that has gone on. A BIG THANKYOU, it has been noticed, just not mentioned enough. I would also like to mention all Jolene's motivation is working. Love you guy's keep up the GREAT work! Now back to the build!
well said mate 👍
Hey Chad you making that a Highboy or are you channeling the body over the frame. Thats why i asked you about the kick up on the front of the frame. I think it would look bad ass as a Highboy coupe just saying.
When. You. Lower. Car. . When. You. Open. Door s. . it's. Like. You. Can. See. The. Fram
Mr. Chad if I had the money and you had the time I would hire you to build me a hot rod,
Have a great day!
The more you brace it the stiffer it is and the faster it will be

I like to start things and figure it out as I go....That's the way Chad does it...and I approve this message..😊😊

Chad hi from Austin tx you the hombre!! Good job!!!!
Very motivating and inspiring content, keep em coming👍👍🇺🇲
Make the floor out of treated 3/4 plywood. Henry Ford used wood.
FINA!!!
I wonder what Fina thinks of all of this
Floor frame looking good 👍 😊cya tomorrow
