Their single dynamite hit no 1 of billboard hot 100 making them the first korean artists to do so as well as asians(i could be wrong about the asian one). Took me a while to realise Dis-ease probably talks about their workhalic behavior and how they're trying to cope with how they can barely do concerts and stuff. To them workaholic is a disease. And the pandemic taking one part of their job , causing dis-ease in their heart made them realise how much of a workaholic they are. Its cool how the word 'dis-ease' itself can bring so many meaning both in english and korean language

    "One direction is one of my favorite boybands of all time," famous last words, my friend. This choreography is, literally, probably the easiest BTS has ever done (it was intentional and includes sign language, they wanted it to be easy and universal for all to do). BTS has, no questions, the most difficult choreo of any group out there right now. It will blow your mind. These guys are obviously very talented, but above all, these guys are PROFESSIONALS to their core. They are likely the most hard-working, dedicated, and humble performers out there. I'm a recent 'Army' (fan) from about 3 years ago and I am never not impressed and shocked by these guys. They fight for important things and their music is so, so versatile. From hard rap to beautiful melodies, these guys are jacks of all trades. Welcome to the BTS rabbit hole, you're in for a ride and can't come out of it NOT being a fan.

    • @akiranok-pop7426

      Their choreographies are great, and really difficult, but I don’t think you can say they have the hardest choreography without question. There are plenty of groups that do incredible choreography, and while I thinks it’s fair to say that BTS has the hardest, I don’t think it’s fair to say they have the hardest without question.

    • @forg_tful.
      @forg_tful. 3 года назад +31

      @@akiranok-pop7426 they do have the hardest choreography when it comes to the most popular groups in the world right now. some kpop groups have very complex choreographies but they do a different type of music (those groups are usually focused more on the performance aspect and do a very specific sound with it, most 4th gen groups and one or two 3rd gen ones fall under that category) and some of them don't sing live while doing said choreography, so it's a different thing. it's not just about difficulty of movement, it's also about how you perform it along with the music.

    • @im_azraelle
      @im_azraelle 3 года назад +15

      @@forg_tful. i’m gonna have to respectfully disagree. the original comment said “the hardest choreographies of any group out there” so you can’t defend OP’s comment but then backtrack on it and say “when it comes to the most popular groups right now”. and even then, i still disagree. NCT, EXO, the king of kpop Taemin, and even rising groups like Ateez and The Boyz have EXTREMELY difficult choreos and amazing performances that are hard to even replicate. don’t believe me? watch some of Taemin’s solo concert performances or The Boyz’ stages from Kingdom. factually, BTS’ choreographies are _not_ the hardest in the industry. you can think they’re the _best_ as you’re entitled to that opinion, but as for the actual most difficult ones? nah.
      BTS don’t always sing live either, but that’s okay because all groups use backing track or lip synch sometimes because their choreos are too difficult, or to preserve their voices, there’s no shame in it. but singing live doesn’t always make a performance better. and just because groups do a different type of music, it doesn’t automatically lessen the performances’ quality…what kind of logic is that lmao? a performance is a performance.

    BTS created BE to comfort people all around the world who are affected by pandemic
    All seven members of BTS are very involved into creative process. Most of the songs are written by their rappers (RM, SUGA, J-Hope). RM is credited as songwriter in 174 songs, SUGA - 124, J-Hope - 112. RM debuted on Billboard Hot 100 Songwriters Chart at #3, SUGA - at #9. But vocalists are participating in songwriting and composing as well. For example, Jimin participated in creating melody of "Dis-ease", Jungkook and Jin are credited as songwriters in "Stay", V is main songwriter and one of the producers of "Blue&Grey". The members are involved into producing. Out of all members SUGA produced the most, he is an established award winning producer, who is producing for BTS, for his solo work and for other famous artists

    I cannot leave this video without stating how unique your channel is. How you appreciate music from so many artists, without prejudice or segregation, like music is meant to be heard above all its inner divisions. It's amazing. You're not a producer/musician trying to show off your knowledge, or anything really, it's just a music lover listening to music, just like so many of us. We can see you're genuine. As a BTS fan, this is gold. I really like how you react to the album BE, because so many people analyse BTS by their visuals, or dance, and it's cool, but they're musicians above all. answering the questions (and a little extra info) :
    6:35 - that's V
    6:59 - yep
    (8:05 - some of the choreography in the chorus is international sign language for things like dance, peace etc.)
    11:51 - yep, jungkook opens both life goes on and permission to dance
    12:44 - yes, life goes on is specially written about the pandemic and lockdown
    16:04 - yep, they're speaking both korean and english
    16:44 - there is a term called konglish (korean + english) but fans usually use it to refer to when bilingual korean / english members talk to each other in a mix of the languages. (it also means when english loanwords have been assimilated into the korean language but thats not really relevant)
    17:49 - as you probably picked up, yes most of this album is pandemic related (bts write their lyrics to be very relevant for the time that they're writing them, such as their earlier, younger albums including the struggles of stifling academic pressure)
    19:18 - his stage name is technically just V, but most fans refer to him by his birth name, Taehyung (2 syllables and pronounced as spelled)
    19:28 - don't worry, you're saying everyone's names correctly! (unlike some people *cough cough* jimmy fallon ;)
    (24:23 - RM has a real diversity in his rap style. in their early work he had a very harsh rap style but in his 2018 solo album, mono, he has a very soothing, gentle tone)
    (24:46 - in some songs, suga definitely has a softer, less aggressive tone, however i would recommend checking out his solo work under the name Agust D (pronounced august D) because some of those raps are a lot more agressive. he talks a lot about mental health and depression)
    27:47 - see Anagha Thrivi's comment
    28:29 - bts themselves ahahaha
    (30:10 - when bts first started out in 2013 they were a hip hop focused group, and those influences are still reflected in some of their more recent music)
    (34:36 - if you like this then you might like outro: Ego, or at least the start of that song. its another song produced by j-hope and included the record scratch sounds at the beginning)
    35:58 - see • NIKOL • 's answer
    36:39 - yes - usually they spilt it into rap line and vocal line but recently they've been less rigid about subunits. so in the Map of the Soul albums, the members are split into 3 different units, simply divided by who wanted to work with who and who wanted to sing what, as well as a song for the rap line and a song for the vocal line.
    (40:38 - dynamite does have a music video!)
    (41:30 - this is actually jungkook. both he and jimin usually do the ad-libs in end choruses, although occasionally v and jin do them aswell)
    (44:05 - i think jin's vocals have a tendency to be overlooked by reactors and new fans because he isn't quite as easy to pick out from songs unlike jungkook who has strong technical ability and lots of ad-libs, jimin who has a well utilised falsetto and v who easily has the most distinctive voice because it's often low and soulful. he also isn't (normally) given as many lines, so these factors combined make him stand out less at first. i would recommend his solo songs epiphany, awake and moon (and abyss which was released non commercially))
    44:46 - personally my favourite albums are love yourself: her, and you never walk alone, which is the repacked/deluxe version of wings
    44:50 - there are music videos for life goes on and dynamite, but also performance videos for blue and grey and for telepathy
    -
    hope this was helpful!
    i've been a fan for about 2 years now (wow time goes fast!) so i've picked up a lot of info but pls correct me, ARMY, if u notice a mistake :)))

    They're called unit songs or sub-unit songs, and they do quite a bit of them. Sometimes its the rappers together, sometimes the vocalists, and sometimes its just whoever can do that song the best. It really just depends on the content of the song. And it's a good way for them to be able to feature more of each individual. Plus they have fun working with each other in different ways. And this practice allows for them to write/produce/compose anything they want and then have the ability to record and use it regardless to if its group, unit or individual.

    The Gray Rhino is a metaphor for the threats that we can see and acknowledge yet do nothing about: the two ton thing that should be hard to ignore, but from which we look away even though it’s in our interest to get away before it charges. Like a gray rhino, the threat (“gloomy and anxious internal emotions” in this song) comes to one in a visible, obvious way. Gray rhino has also been used as a metaphor for the ignored warnings that led to the COVID-19 pandemic.

    the thing about them is that they have series of albums (usually in trilogies) that cover certain overarching themes they choose: for example, their first 3 albums form the school trilogy (2 cool 4 skool, o!rul8,2? and skool luv affair), the next 3 form the youth trilogy (the most beautiful moment in life pt.1, pt.2 and young forever), then they have the love yourself series (ly: her, ly:tear and ly:answer) and their newest series of albums is map of the soul (mots: persona and mots:7 - and 7 is basically 2 albums rolled into one big full album because it was supposed to be 2 albums worth of music but they decided to put it into one and it tells a story from beginning to end anyway). all those series of albums have ongoing topics that get discussed from the first song on the first album of the trilogy to the last song of the final album in the trilogy, so i'd say listening in order would be important to gauge how the story they are telling flows.
    they also have some standalone albums like their first full album dark & wild; bts world, an OST album for their game bts world where they collaborated on songs with charli xcx, zara larsson and juice wrld, also their second full album, wings, which is stunning and features solo tracks that talk about bts' fears (while also being part of the bts universe storyline by nature, the songs are half fictional, half real basically), but there are also amazing group songs on it like blood, sweat and tears and lost, among others;
    another standalone example would be BE, they created it and wrote it in the period of a few months after the pandemic began, they've said it wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for the quarantine and 2020 chaos. they contributed A LOT on that album, all of them had specific roles (for example, jimin was the music project manager, jungkook directed the life goes on music video since he loves cameras and editing, v did the styling for their photoshoots for the album photobook, the members all wrote and produced as always, etc)...
    they also have quite a few japanese albums, they make original songs in japanese, as well as remakes of their korean songs but in japanese. japan is a huge music market next to korea so it's a standard for korean artists to also do japanese music. bts basically has a trilingual discography. isn't it cool?

  • @psychokitty71
    @psychokitty71 3 года назад +102

    That high note at the end of Dynamite, with the key change, was actually Jungkook. He's the main vocalist of the group. If you notice, the songs on the BE album progress and tell a story, mainly about the pandemic and how it affected people's lives. It goes from being confused and not really knowing what's going to happen to the depression and isolation of quarantine and then to recognition that you aren't as alone as you thought and that the people who care about you will still be there when the pandemic ends. "Permission to Dance" is kind of a follow up, focusing on the end of the pandemic and the joy and freedom of everyone getting their old lives back.
    When they split up and did the one song with 4 members and the other one with 3, those are called unit songs. They usually do some unit songs on their albums. Their album before "BE" was called Map of the Soul: 7 and had three unit songs, V and Jimin, Jungkook, J-Hope, and Jin, and RM and Suga. The album also has solo songs from each member. BTS is also unique in that they have a very special relationship with their fandom, called ARMY. They have songs that are specifically for ARMY, like Stay and Telepathy, to help cheer us up and comfort us in times of trouble. Most of the time when they sing a love song, especially in the last 3 or 4 years, they're actually singing to ARMY. RM is the leader of the group and the only one truly fluent in English, he has said that they're too busy for girlfriends, but they're dating ARMY.
    Their Korean name is Bangtan Sonyeondan, which is where BTS comes from. It's translated as Bulletproof Boyscouts. Originally, they were promoted as a group that seeks to protect youth from the criticisms and judgements that come at them like bullets. Their very first album has a song, No More Dream, about how young people don't really have dreams of their own, just the expectations and dreams of their parents for them. The also have a song called, NO, on the same album, that is a criticism of the Korean school system which is extremely competitive. A lot of BTS songs are very deep and meaningful, as you saw on this album.
    As far as Jin is concerned, he has 3 solo songs, Awake, Epiphany, and Moon. Those are the songs that are part of the BTS discography. Awake breaks my heart since it talks about Jin's insecurities within the group, Epiphany is one of the messages and life lessons for ARMY, as well as the members, and Moon is from the album before BE. It talks about how he is the Moon while ARMY is the Earth that he orbits. I think, of the three of them, Epiphany is the best one to get a better idea of what Jin is capable of. They're all great songs though. BTS also does Japanese songs and Jin tends to have more parts in the Japanese songs. He really shines in those songs.
    Also, BTS has a fictional story line that's been running through their music videos for the last 6 or 7 years. Like BE, their albums tell a story and sometimes they use 2 or three albums to tell the story. If you truly want to do a deep dive, you may want to go through their albums from beginning to current. There are also explained videos to help us understand cultural or philosophical references. DKDKTV is a channel by a couple of Korean guys and they have really good explanations of the cultural aspects of various MVs. I'm sorry for the long post, but, as you said, there's a lot to unpack. This isn't even all of it. Welcome to the BTS Rabbit hole!

    Yeah, they have unit songs where not all members will be on them. The units differ from every song; some have the rap line (RM, j-hope and SUGA) and some have the vocal line (V, Jin, Jimin and Jungkook), some are completely mixed and can range from 4 members to 2. They also have solo songs, released on official albums for the group not outside of the group, which I find is quite unique for a group. I think it was a normal thing for hip hop groups to do during that time. However as their style expanded, the skits became less and less frequent. To me, this sorta seems like an homage of sorts to their hip hop days. These skits mostly just entailed them talking amongst themselves about current events and such.
