    is it just me or is this one of her more underrated slam runs? her draw wasn’t extremely difficult for her standards but a straight sets slam is a straight sets slam. also her outfit is so pretty 😭

      and mind u 89 aces in straight sets would probably put this tournament next to her 2012 wimbledon run in terms of serving

      It's very underrated. She played some opponents who were playing great tennis, yet she didn't loose a set.

    • @SmithyPL
      @SmithyPL Месяц назад

      It's because of low quality of opponent in the final. Due to Caroline Wozniacki's undeserved no.1 ranking, Azarenka/Radwanska having year of slump in 2010, Kvitova just arriving to the top, Venus Williams starting to decline and Jankovic/Ivanovic/Safina/Kuznetsova completely failing to fulfill expectations, Vera Zvonareva who was at most slam QF/SF player, started to use weak draws to her benefit and reach slam finals/semifinals which was not meant for her quality of tennis.
      Due to this, she was easily destroyed by S.Williams and K.Clijsters, because she was never meant to play at that level.

      @SmithyPL I don't agree with you. There were no weak draws in 2010. There was Serena, Venus, Henin, Clijsters, Li Na, and a host of others. Even though Sharapova was still finding her game after the shoulder surgery, her level against Serena in the 4th round was incredibly high and surprised everyone. Zvonoreva was quite consistent at the slams between mid 2010 and early 2012. She was a very experienced player then. She even beat Venus in the 2003 French Open round of 16. People have to realize that tennis keeps evolving.

    Serena has always had a great serve, but this is the tournament she transformed her serve into a weapon of mass destruction. Her serve in the 2010s was far better than the 2000s. It was after this tournament that Martina Navratilova ranked Serena Williams among the top 5 greatest female tennis players of all time. Back then she had 13 slams and less than 40 titles, yet Martina Navratilova said her general level of play puts her in that top 5 bracket. It takes one all time great to know another all time great. By the way the players who people claim would have stopped Serena from winning 23 slams (Justine Henin and Clijsters) played in this tournament as well, but Serena won with out dropping a set. They couldn't go pass the so called weak era players to stop Serena in the finals.

    • @SmithyPL
      @SmithyPL Месяц назад

      Transformation started at Wimbledon 2009 and went through AO 2010 but Wimbledon 2010 her serve reached the level of perfection

      She always had her serve as a weapon what you talking about literally watch us open 1999 her serve is just better on grass so is Venus’ serve

    2010 was an underrated year for her injury was such a nightmare that kept her from preparing well for tourneys and I believe she would've won the 2010 Us open She played phenomenal in this championship against some great players whom some were slam winners

      @@ism7588 Cornet match was a doozy, sure. Honestly, she should’ve just sat WB 2014 out. From the 3R loss to the forced withdrawal from doubles…it was BAD. S was never the same after her US Open final loss to Osaka. Factor in a depleted mental state, being 37, and the permanent effects pregnancy had on her body, there was no chance she’d win another GS unless she truly believed in herself and it was clear she didn’t.

    I miss REAL Woman's Tennis. Today's game is simply not up to par. There are only a few players i enjoy. And swiatek is NOT one of them... boring. She wins bcuz her opponents r easy to beat.
