Traded in my much loved 2023 CX9 carbon edition for the CX70 Turbo S Premium with the inline six. It doesn’t feel as nimble as the 9 but it’s an amazing car for the money. Since I drive very few city miles, I wanted the bigger engine and other than the clunky iStop system, this thing is great to drive. Got the polymetal grey with the red nappa leather and with the 70’s blacked out trim and new front and rear fascias , it looks amazing. The CX70 feels like a truly premium vehicle and it competes favorably with cars costing far more. Mazda may be a small car company but they punch well above their weight.
I did the same traded my 2016 cx9 for a poly Grey with red interior cx70 I think this is the best looking cx70 love it alot more technology than the cx9 only thing I miss is the tachometer on the head up display don't know why they eliminated it I do think the cx9 has a little more zip off the line but the cx70 catches up quickly
Ngl, that Red Nappa interior is stunning, to say the least………might I dare say, “BMW - M ish”………just saying. Excellent review, boys…….keep up the great work!
After some calculations with the cx 70s mile per kWh it costs about the same to drive as the turbo s. So the benefit is if youre in a lot of stop and go traffic you can just be in EV. Honestly the turbo s needs more power. the phev should not be as fast to 60 and the turbo s should be smoother than a 4cyl. Great review!
I think the PHEV is faster off the line because of the large electric motor, but the I6 will be faster and smoother in overtaking and rolling acceleration. The mild hybrid noticeably launches worse than the PHEV because it has a much smaller electric motor that is responsible for the initial motion. Once the actual I6 kicks in it moves.
As for ICE smoothness, Mazda’s been refining that I4 for many years, but their 3.3L I6 is new. And using a full plug-in hybrid w/ the former and a mild hybrid w/ the latter is also all-new engrg. When it comes to inline 6-cyl. drivetrains, whether turbocharged or normally aspirated, nobody beats BMW.
So I have a Mazda CX-70 PHEV Premium arriving next week, in the new-color-for-2025-CX-70 “Melting Copper Metallic” you show, but special-ordered with a GREIGE (GREy-beIGE) leather (*not* Nappa) interior. (Not a big fan of the Copper ext./Red Nappa int. color combination. Trump Tower-level tacky 😮) As a widower with a shepherd, a 3rd row would be useless & annoying, but room to sleep in back & store a mtn. bike: sweet!
Great video guys! In europe we have the CX-60, that's had a multitude of problems, despite being the same architecture and hardware. Most noticeably the gearbox being very clunky and unpleasant to drive - how was the gearbox in the CX-70? It baffles me that the same hardware in more or less the same car can be so different, I assume it comes down to them not wanting to move the "newer" software from CX-70 to CX-60.
My inline 6 mild hybrid is averaging 28 mpg with non-gentle driving. Unless you’re doing a ton of short distance driving and using the EV functionality, not really a huge advantage getting the PHEV.
THE WAY FORWARD FOR MAZDA IS IN 2025 IS TO BRING CX-10 CX-20 & CX-40 MODELS OUT DISCONTINUE THE CX-3 & CX-5 CX-10-90 SHOULD BE THE FULL RANGE OF MODELS THAN IT SHOULD JUST BE A MATTER OF TIME FOR ALL MODELS IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES .

Amigos !! great review thank you for the wonderful channel you guys have.
Waiting for these improvements to carry over to the 2025 Cx90
I believe that they have now, as 2025 CX-90s are trickling in…

damn their cars look good
I believe they've made adjustments to the I6 powertrain on the CX-70 as well, would be curious how it compares to your initial impressions in the 90.
Great review

Cx 60 was the first Mazda vehicle with this all new engine and transmission. Thats why youre having those issues.
Why not just put 18’s on this car? Would that make this thing alone much more beefy on the trail?
The from grills are brake coolers

We are averaging 42 mpg in our Cx-70 PHEV with combined city and highway driving
Sorry, but I would still prefer to have the dual tips exposed. And the seats could have reclined even more in the back row.
the video is a CX90 by the looks of the grill??

Wireless charger where you put your wallet…… phone problem solved!
Short answer: No, it’s not!
