RIP Meat Loaf. Thank you for the many memories from the 70's and 80's as a teenager, singing my guts out along with you to this legendary song, Paradise By The Dashboard Light. 🙏❤️
This song is the "reason" our first daughter was born. We found our answer to the questions (Married now 38 years...) Oh so long ago and great memories. RIP Meatloaf. Thanks for joining to all the parties when we where young. ❤️
Definitely one of my favorite "live TV" duets of all time. Not sure what's more entertaining - their performance or the fact that they are performing on "Donny and Marie" 🙂
What a talent…..so sad you left us so early. Paradise by the dashboard light is one of my favorite all time songs and one of the greatest rock songs ever written. My wife was in a band for a little while and she sang a pretty good version of this classic. So many memories. RIP big man.
This song was playing my first time. We were parking by the lake, seriously, and so much in love. This will always be the most important song of my life❤
I loved Meat Loaf's music, especially his Bat Out of Hell Album. And I often play his music on RUclips. My pain is different from Meat Loaf's but I understand, I lived in pain for 70 years. Pain from cerebral palsy and a broken neck from a fall off my crutches. Meat Loaf made music, I wrote a book, with a pointer stick. Again, I understand his love and passion with music. Just as I do in publishing my book, "Tie My Shoes." Pain, may not kill us, but it sure wears us down. We must keep on trying and performing as Meat Loaf did. R.I.P and God bless.
So glad RUclips exists to bring us these amazing, rare performances we missed while at work! From the few D&M shows I've seen here they are so fun and entertaining.
It doesnt matter how you sound now Meatloaf, You had one of the biggest and best albums of all time. Plus now Bat out of hell is a musical with Andrew Polec at the helm as Meatloaf I only wish it comes to Australia.
But Karla wasn't singing. She was lip syncing to Ellen Foley's lyrics. I'll admit that I liked the original better but it was before Meat strained his voice by giving his everything too many times a week.
Thank Todd / God for the production, mixing and engineering, arranging of the music, background vocals, percussion, some keyboard parts, guitar including the creation of the famed motorcycle guitar sound on the title track bat out of hell. Imagine being able to witness Bat out of hell performed with Todd Rundgren, Jim Steinem, meatloaf, and Karla DeVito?
First time I ever heard this song was in 1998 at a Karaoke bar. I was blown away. Heh. I now have two copies of Bat out of Hell on vinyl. Amazing album. And this one was an amazing performance. BTW, not to "brag", but when I was in high school in 1970 to 1972 I drove a two door 1963 Rambler classic - with fold down seats. I only saw the first half of Woodstock at the drive in. Boy, can I relate to this song...🤣
Patti Russo does this song great! As far as I know Meat Loaf has done the song in concert acted by Karla Devito to Ellen Fogle's vocals off the album. From 1993-2013Patricia(Patti)Russo sang the song on stage with Meat Loaf. In 2014-2016 MS. Aspen Miller performed the song in concerts. 2016-present MS. Ciab Coey has performed in concerts with Meat Loaf. Of course, all these female singers with the exception of MS. Karla Devito also sang duets with Meat Loaf of "Dead Ringer for Love" and "I Would do Anything for Love" as well as other songs that Meat Loaf didn't originally record but included in some of his concerts through the years. Thanks to RUclips and personal experience I have had a chance to see Meat Loaf perform with each of the ladies I mentioned above and in my opinion MS. Russo is the best. MS. Miller and MS. Coey do a good job but in my opinion I think that MS. Is the best!!
@@beckyforcier1020 3 years and the death of the actual singer later here is the answer ...The tour schedule suggested was brutal and the pay was shit so she declined before there was any promotional material made. So they called Karla DeVito ...what were her connections i do not know .(‿ˠ‿)
George Williams Fairly accurate assessment, other than the "acted to Fogle's lyrics" part. Ms Devito sang her own parts in concert..it was synced/acted for the music video (as were everyone else's performances), but she actually performed her own singing in concert.
Wow! What a performance by Marie , LOVE the expressions shows total commitment to the song...ABSOLUTELY 100%. (I obviously Don't Know my knee from my elbow) just realised this is NOT Marie Osmond.... PLEASE FORGIVE ME to the lady singing with him, I TRULY wish I knew who you were.....you REALLY REALLY do this song PROUD ❤
The song appeared on a BBC TV programme ("The Old Grey Whistle Test"), about the time "Bat out of Hell" was released. Absolutely stunning. Maybe the above was the first US screening?
you realize this was the DONNY & MARIE show... back when there was only 4 stations and TV was ''live'' right??? back in the HEE HAW days... old times... 80s or wutever
I can't help but be reminded of what an image this song brings to my mind! I want to thank all of the young ladies that helped me thru it! Lol thanks to: Debbie, Marsha, Beth, Mary Lucy, Linda, Brenda, Carl and Charlene plus a cast of hundreds all now gone but not forgotten.
Patti Russo is excellent, but my favorite vocal will always be Ellen Foley's. Probably because that was what I heard first, back in '77, when I was a youngster of 22.
Not sure this is the first time this song was performed on television. Album came out in '77 (?), this was '98. I saw him on tv in college in late 70's and I've never watched a single episode of Donnie & Marie.
The eighties would not have been the same without Meat Loaf. RIP Buddy. 😥
RIP Meat Loaf. Thank you for the many memories from the 70's and 80's as a teenager, singing my guts out along with you to this legendary song, Paradise By The Dashboard Light.
🙏❤️
I'm 70 & love singing along with Meatloaf! This is a real classic. May he rest in Peace.
Its one of my favorit songs ever!!!
"It was long ago and it was far away and it was so much better than it is today " so true RIP Meatloaf
Man gave us everything he had every time. We love you Meat Loaf! Be at peace big guy.
These 2 were born to perform together. So lucky to have seen them live twice.
This song is the "reason" our first daughter was born. We found our answer to the questions (Married now 38 years...) Oh so long ago and great memories. RIP Meatloaf. Thanks for joining to all the parties when we where young. ❤️
Meatloaf has left us at 74.
Great artist, great memories.
The baseball segment with Phil "the scooter" Rizzuto is genius. Awesome song and performance.
Jim Steinman was a genius putting that in. They both were working out of NYC at the time.
Definitely one of my favorite "live TV" duets of all time. Not sure what's more entertaining - their performance or the fact that they are performing on "Donny and Marie" 🙂

Patti killing it... With the very best of the best.
R.I.P Meatloaf. Thanks for your great music over the years!
I loved Meatloaf!!! I listen to him all the time!! He is a powerhouse as is Patti!!!! Miss him dearly... 😢😢😢....❤❤❤❤....
i'm glad I grew up in the 60's, 70's, 80's when we had such great talent!
How true! We saw truly groundbreaking artists, and Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman are at the top of the list. I hope they are reunited now. RIP
This song was playing my first time. We were parking by the lake, seriously, and so much in love. This will always be the most important song of my life❤
Same with me!
They'll never be another Meat...RIP...heaven waits no more. 😥😥😥🙏🦇🎤🎶😥
Music that never gets old xoxo

This made me really happy yet melancholy about the past. Such great performers. RIP ML
True talent & great acting performance with the song.
Makes me sad…sad that we lost such an amazing talent and great guy. Also sad that I never got the chance to see him in person.
Patti is a superstar so under rated
she was awesome
RIP Meat Loaf - condolences to his family and friends : (
I love this song so much❤😍
This has always been one of my all time favorite songs ever.
It was performed on the Old Grey Whistle Test on the BBC in 1978 with Karla De Vito
Magnificent and expressive acting, and a great show
His prayer for the "end of time" has been answered. RIP Meat Loaf
Both of them are a pleasure to watch and listen to.
Love his change of expression when she first mentioned making her his wife.
He’s experience as an actor shows
Todd if you think that was funny check out his performance on 'the old grey whistle test' from 1978 in the uk
ist a Wanderfoul Women, Petti Russo,

I can't get past just how great this song is
He was so much fun on stage. RIP big guy.

fabulous lyrics
The video with Karla Devito in the 70’s was the ultimate one for “Paradise By the Dashboard Light.”
Patty Russo is absolutely fantastic. Just wow.
Karla Devito did it better.
But Karla wasn't singing. She was lip syncing to Ellen Foley's lyrics.
I'll admit that I liked the original better but it was before Meat strained his voice by giving his everything too many times a week.
Who is this one I don't know them
Iconic
Thoroughly enjoyable❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸
Patti Russo. Simply the best. Better than all the rest!!!
Two words.....
Patti Russo.
The most underestimated rock singer of all time.
No one was better on this than her.
Why he fired her I'll not understand.
@@autumnelledge I heard it was by email! Yikes
Karla Devito
Totally agree. Best female lead of all of them he sang with.
@@ipanemasafado3183 no, this is Patti Russo singing with him
this was hands down the funniest performance of this song ive ever seen 😂😂😂

they were so good together how cute was this> where's her recognition? Patty Russo was/is amazing
Deepest sympathy to his family and closest friends.
Performed on TV in 1978, definitely not the first TV performance of it.
Old Grey Whistle Test. BBC
THE LATE GREAT MEATLOAF .THIS WAS MY FAV MEATLOAF SONG.

Wrong Aspen only was with Meat Loaf from 2006 to 2007 for the 3 bats tour
Why can't we find Ellen Foley singing with Meatloaf?
cause she only sang on the Album she did not tour with Meat Loaf

Patti was beyond great. I got to see Meatloaf with Karla who was priceless.
Yes Karla was the best for this song.
So many great singers.

Love this music
Great drummer.
She can Sing.
The good old days!
Part of what made his performances so good was his acting ability
That was great
The song appeared on a BBC TV programme ("The Old Grey Whistle Test"), about the time "Bat out of Hell" was released. Absolutely stunning. Maybe the above was the first US screening?
First time I did experience that girls could be beyond hard and unreasonable I was 10 y/o. I saw Paradise by the dashboard light live on tv.
Love tbis song
Miss you meatloaf rest in peace
Its a theatrical song . Why do they say it was" performed the first time on tv "??? They did it a thousand times already
you realize this was the DONNY & MARIE show... back when there was only 4 stations and TV was ''live'' right??? back in the HEE HAW days... old times... 80s or wutever

Vladimír Dvořák P.P.S. Thank you , very much, PATTI RUSSO...

It disturbs me how much this song describes my life up until my son divorce 😂🤣thanks meat!
A good mormon tribute...gotta love underrated Patti Russo
