@Vegan Junky..."...female actor..." Two words? You didn't dodge her gender here. So wouldn't it have been easier and directly to the point as to gender simply to have said "actress"? One word. PC can get a bit much in all too many cases. And this happens to be one.
Jay Young Calm down there, big fella. Take a chill pill. You are just a little too sensitive. I believe Vegan Junky can word his or her sentences however he or she wants.
Jen P. M. I don't deny that. But that wasn't my point. It's what we're doing to the language that grates. Linguistic PC run amok. I feel just as strongly about Franglais and Spanglish.
Jay Young "The word actor refers to a person who acts regardless of gender, while actress refers specifically to a female person who acts; therefore a female can be referred to by either term. The Oxford English Dictionary states that originally "actor" was used for both sexes." All from google...
Vegan Junky Interesting. I'm bilingual, and nowhere in, at least the Romance languages, do I hear a woman referred to in the neuter or masculine. It's either "el" or "ella." But not both. These differentiations are set forth in Latin. In a French class at UCLA I did notice my French instructor was clear that these lexical innovations are not accepted in French. Franglais, for example, will never be established as a norm. No more than Creole.
I'm sure there are plenty of people with exceptional kids there. They might not be in the limelight. There are celebs with brilliant kids. The ones that care about education help. Caitlyn Jenner said (when he was Bruce) that he didn't care if his kids went to college. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has great kids but we don't see them.
What Diana Ross means to me is more than her fame and abundant wealth. It's her motherhood. From the git, it was clear that Ross was IN LOVE with her children. No if's, and's but's about. She was in love with her offspring. Full stop. I might add here that she was equally as loving with her late brother, T Boy, who died prematurely.
(Cont'd) Clearly, Ross is a breath of fresh air, isn't she? Her mother did a fine job here. No oversized ego here. Instead, a complete individual. My only concern with Ross is what type relationship does she maintain with her father? At no time in her career have I seen her photographed with her dad. On the contrary, it's always with her wonderful mother. Which isn't bad, by the way.
@roter13...Thank you. I would suspect they do have a fine relationship. Ross is just to complete a human being not to be connected with BOTH parents. Thank you again.
Jay Young why are you so concern about her personal relationship with her father?? That's her personal business. That has nothing to do with her winning this award. That's a bullshit question/ concern.
Her mother career over 50s never won a Grammy in competition but never complained like Kanye West bitching about not winning or being nominated. Both Ross' proved hard work less complaining continue Working your craft and eventually it will pay off and most of all don't get caught up in the Drugs Spiral. It always leads to a Dead end street. So proud of mother and daughter.
(Cont'd) There's just one more thing I'd like to see here. As you can see, I quite enthusiastic about Ross. She's a fine example of humankind. If by some chance Ross has her own production company, I'd like to see her tackle for HBO the role of West Coast human rights activist Mary Ellen Pleasants, who champion human rights for all here in California as well as across the US. Little is known about Mary Ellen, who has often referred to in history as "Mammy Pleasants." Like Tracee, Mary Ellen was an independent thinking woman, especially for her time. I think this would be a project Tracee could get into body and soul. But I'm just a face in the crowd. We do share something in common, however. We're both alums of Brown University, only my time much earlier.
Her personality is amazing. I was smiling for the entire video
ME!!! She's fucking awesome.
I'm really happy for her. Tracee is so sweet and genuine. Black-ish is a funny show but it also talks about real life issues.

Diana Ross did a great job raising her daughter.
I love that she asked her mom for advice about what to expect at the Golden Globes!
All 5 of Diana's Kids are exceptional, you don't see that much in Hollywood.

Jay Young she posts about her dad often on Instagram, from what she shares they have a great relationship
JuanLoco Sorry for your experience. But that doesn't contradict what I've said about her mothering skills.
She sort of looks like Emmy Rosem... or I guess Emmy looks like her because Ross is older. Beautiful ladies inside and out.
Her mother career over 50s never won a Grammy in competition but never complained like Kanye West bitching about not winning or being nominated.
