Looked at whereabouts of this school at google maps, and it kinda resembles the territories which are in the game, so we might've found out the location of game events, although I'm not so sure about it.

Little fix to my message yesterday about the code. The neighbor has a pathfind for the player. It doesn't necessarily mean he always knows where you are, but when you make a sound he creates a path to that sound. As I said with these portals they completely disable the neighbor and reset his code. He is completely controlled with a path find mech, but it's weird that he has that kind of AI companionship. He is able to know where you are, but he isn't always able to attack you. The code tells him to fail in finding you most of the time. Like he gives up most of the times.

A theory: The character you play as is actually a child in a coma and this world you play in is a imitation of how the boy thinks life would be like in the future. The boy mom died in a car accident and since the cars were moving too fast to even comprehend that he was hit now in his mind that's how fast cars move now because of the traumatic experience he had with fast vehicles.And maybe in the experience he felt isolated from the rest of the world and only him and his dad were around and his dad became more and more aggressive and abusive which lead him to think of his father as a strange man who is no longer his dad but a person who cries when he's alone and attacks you when you're around. And due to the isolated feelings his re-imagined world is frozen in time and everything else stops except what is happening in his life....I hate "it was all a dream" stories too but this just an idea.
And all these puzzles and rooms are really how the kid feels emotionally trying to figure out what tf happened, in his mind everything was okay and he was riding around in a car(like the beginning of the game) and next thing he knows there's a GIANT problem(the house) and he feels like he needs to solve it to find out the truth.
