  • Welcome to our first-time reaction to Saw X (2023) the latest installment in this spine-tingling franchise! Saw is back baby! And we mean back! This movie gave us everything the franchise has needed for a while now and more.
    John Kramer played by Tobin Bell is front and center in this film. They actually make us care and spend quite a lot of time building his reasoning for why Jigsaw returns in this film. And we have to say we absolutely loved that! It dives deeper into the characters and made the climax richer because of it.
    But of course that's not all. We all come here to see the mind-bending traps designed by the notorious Jigsaw. Well, this one does not disappoint with the gruesome traps! The film felt tense throughout and it literally made us squirm in terror.
    We hope you enjoy our reaction and commentary as we delve into the lore we know so far withing the Saw franchise, how Saw X gives us way more moral complexities when it comes to John Kramer and of course the iconic traps. We'll also have our usual discussion talking about the technical aspects of the film. From the score to how it was shot, there is so much to discuss so sit back and relax as we dive right into the world of Saw once more.

    I’ve read a lot of comments saying Cecilia intentionally gave Valentina and Gabriella misdirections so only she’d be alive. Some have said the wire that Valentina had to amputate her leg with is usually best wrapped the entire diameter around the leg, than just underneath it. Then you pull it taught like a shoe-lace to amputate from all sides for a quicker cut, instead of sawing back and forth like she did. It could’ve taken less time, and she might not have been down to the wire (no-pun intended).
    And then for Gabriella, she would’ve been right to break her wrist first, cuz then she would’ve fallen out of the radiator’s path. Even though it could move around the ceiling, it probably didn’t have tracks closer to the floor and she would’ve been exposed to way less radiation.
    Seeing how Cecilia takes out Gabriella later in cold blood, playing Parker, and all her calculated misdirections to the others, I don’t think it’s too far-removed to label her a textbook psychopath.

    Imagine... if these frauds had not done this to him, if they actually did help him, John may have become a different person afterwards. He may have softened in his tactics. So I'm sorta glad they drew his ire. It cranked Jigsaw up several notches, and really made bad people suffer in later films.

    The only dissatisfying thing about this movie is that Cecilia’s trap wasn’t nearly as challenging as she deserved. Like her associates had to cut open their skull or suck the marrow out of a broken bone but all she had to do is to stab her boyfriend who she probably didn’t care about considering how much of a psychopath she was. It’s really frustrating considering that she was undoubtedly the most disgusting character in the whole Saw franchise (props to the writers and the actress) that you really wish to see suffer and yet she doesn’t at all.

    • @OfficialMediaKnights
      @OfficialMediaKnights  9 месяцев назад +16

      Agreed! What the hell! She deserved a way worse trap. We theorize this was purposefully done to bring her back. She’ll probably try to go after Kramer after this. After all she has the resources to pull something crazy like that. If this is the last we see of her that would be a shame!

    • @thesunisup_
      @thesunisup_ 9 месяцев назад +4

      @@OfficialMediaKnights yeah, that would be the only justification for her getting off easy in this movie. Although I still feel that if we saw her getting what she deserves, not necessarily dying, but going through an actual test nonetheless, it would simply be a better movie, no need for any kind of sequel.

      Just like Adam and Detective Matthews, I don’t think she gets out of the room. It’s in a remote location, no way it gets found. The other movies will probably fill in the gaps in Hoffman’s story. After all, John doesn’t make it through the series.

  • @rodgill9376
    @rodgill9376 9 месяцев назад +16

    Also what makes it even sadder is that John had once last chance at happiness and was robbed of it. Bad enough he lost his child, lost his wife from a divorce, lost his nephew, got diagnosed with cancer, said cancer gets mislabeled (accidently) and now, gets scammed.
    Dude had been through so much during these times. While I do not fully condone John's actions, we understand them and feel for him. It also makes us question do we have the right to take the law into our own hands or not. Sometimes, "justice" is not so simple. Sometimes, its not always so black and white. That's one of the things I've always loved and respect about the Saw films. Regardless if said films are good or not. Its such a soap opera and I'm here for it lol.

    My boyfriend and I marathon Saw every once in a while. We were not expecting much from this movie. Went into it ready to have a good old-fashioned hate watch and discuss where the movie went wrong… We ended up being so blown away by how well they pulled off this sequel! I’ve always been a Tobin Bell stan, and I love that they gave him the stage. What an amazing performance 😭 This one easily lives up to the original trilogy for me. It was different enough from the other films to justify it’s existence, added good depth to characters we like, and still felt like classic Saw. I have small gripes with the ending, but it gave me hope for the future of the franchise for sure! Please let this quality be here to stay 🤞

    Saw X was actually my first time going to see an 18-rated film at the cinema, although I had watched 18-rated films on DVD. (All of the Saw films are rated 18 here in Britain.)
    The content advice for Saw X on the BBFC website states that "scenes of strong gore include a bloody decapitation, disembowelment and sight of severed limbs". This is obviously referring to Valentina's trap, as well as the later scene where Cecilia uses Valentina's intestines as a makeshift rope. But the film is even more extreme than the BBFC content advice makes it out to be.
    I drank a lot of water to get through the scene with Valentina's trap, especially the bit when she was actually extracting the bone marrow. Some critics have reported being put off deli counters as a result of that scene (which is also probably the main reason why some cinemas provided sick bags to those going to see Saw X).
    Unfortunately, I then had to get up and use the toilet at the point where Cecilia disembowels Valentina's corpse to use her intestines as a rope - I'd eaten a lot of popcorn, and that probably didn't help either.
    Naturally, I was worried that if anyone noticed me getting up, they would mistake it for having to leave due to not being able to handle it. So when I returned, I made an X shape with my arms as I returned to my seat.

Tobin Bell was great, a lot of the supporting cast were actually really strong actors, and the tone and feel of the film were right. They gave Amanda back some of her humanity when she tried to save Gabriela.
    The difference between John Cramer and the people in the vast majority of the traps (the MC in 4 is the only one that doesn't sit well with me) is that he's not a scumbag. He follows a code and sticks to it. You have to root for him in this scenario.

    Very upset Valentina didn't get to live. I mean the trap, the aftermath everything was so damn good, but someone tell me how she didn't show her will to live even though she did everything she was told to do and only needed 1-3 more seconds? They could have easily shut off the trap. Also sad that this movie let Cecilia live after she killed Gaby, i just wanted to see her suffer through a trap. And another thing, they really missed out on letting John say Game Over to Cecilia when he looked at her at the end before leaving

      @@sillygoose4263 Nah don't tell me that shit. Tell me you wouldn't freak out first after being kidnapped and then told to cut your own leg off to survive. And unlike Matheo she didn't waste almost an entire 2 minutes to start. Valentina, especially with how far she got, definitely deserved to go free and get out, but sadly John and Amanda are deranged killers

    Hell yeah! Been looking forward to you guy's reaction to Saw X for quite some time now.
    What can be said that hasn't already been said already at this point but I'm gonna say it anyway. Saw X was such a good movie and I've seen it quite a few times so far and I enjoy watch people's reactions. I liked that this was a more emotional and plot driven story this time. We see a different side to John that we never quite seen before... a more "human" side. And... one that is quite angry. Rightfully so too! X also made me kind of starting to like Amanda again. 3 and 6 truly ruined her character for me and for the longest time, I've held quite the disdain towards her. But here, it went back to what I liked about her in the first two films. Loved seeing their relationship a bit more here. The traps in this was really good too.
    I'm not really sure which ones I liked the best. I'm tied between the eye trap, the razor wire trap or the brain trap. I also liked the bomb, radiation and blood boarding traps too. They're simple and cool looking. Another highlight for me was the musical score. It really caught me off guard with how DIFFERENT it was! There is alot more hopeful, calmer and warmer moments. We get some wonderfully sublime melodies (particularly with the cello) and beautifully soothing piano/keyboard progressions. Reminds me of Baptism from Saw 3 and Boz Wife from Spiral with hints of Game of Thrones/House of the Dragon in the mix. But what I did not expect was more choirs and solo female singing. They’re usually in the background. Particularly with a trap or during a certain scene. This time, they’re played more often. Bringing this kind of hauntingly somber and gothic melancholy with a profound sense atmosphere. Of course, it wouldn’t be Saw without some delicious carnage and Clouser more than delivers on this. Complete with creepy atonal strings, intense brass, chunky sounding guitars, dissonant electronics, malevolent sounding waterphones and heavy drumming going on. All and all, a very good movie! I have almost no issues with it besides some minor nitpicks here and there.

    @0:27 How I define this film to people is: this is the Rocky 6 for those who didn't like Rocky 5. This is Star Trek 6 for those who hated Star Trek 5. Well, this is Saw X for those who couldn't stand Spiral." The interesting thing is they pulled off something dangerous, and that is you don't "generally" want your villain to be seen as a hero I will bring the example of Halloween with the Rob Zombie reboots. In these reboots Zombie only pulled off having the entire town hated, all the men have to look like him, ram down the throat of people watching his wife gyrate, give us ink blots that look like damn horses, and yes drifter Myers killed some dogs, but I am sure that was intended to show the dogs of being the second shooter on the grassy knoll from JFK being gunned down.

    The trick was, more Jigsaw himself and only one place where they shot the main part, just like in the first one. Big enough tt the camera can move, but not a giant dome, so we have that claustrophobic feeling.

    @12:12 Skin itself is one big nerve ending. Our bodies have small and long nerves. There are two forms to Peripheral Neuropathy, and three ways to get it, alcoholic or drug, Diabetes, medical treatment (chemo and radiation for example), and idiopathic (they don't know how it occurred). I myself have idiopathic small polyneuropathy. So, in order to get to the brain, they will have to cut through the skin triggering a pain sensation that travels faster than a pleasurable feeling. Therefore, they'd have to give him at least a local (ex. lidocaine), sorry didn't feel like researching the entire cranial area for a movie. lol

    the issue with this is, amanda and cecilla never been given any challenge, they both had to kil another person to save their live, anyone would do that in a heart beat in a situation like this, its way different than cutting in youre own body or cutting off youre own limps.

    Honest I've heard a lot of theories about this and I think my theory is the kid was involved to show that it was never John or Amanda wanting kids hurt go involve them in the games to motivate the parents but the lives are never in Jeopardy but they did tell Zep he would have to murder a mom and her child
    I think the fact that that psychotic b****survived really got to our girl Amanda and that might be why she created traps with no way to win unless of course she was left there to die which I was thinking would have been the case

    What happened was john planned for him and Amanda to be caught and put in the blood trap, the kid threw the plan off and john was fully prepared to sacrifice his life for the kid but the kid ended up being a badass n more or less took on amandas role in the trap! so everything was planned aside from the kid making a unexpected appearance, but since the kid is a GANGSTER everything played out how it was supposed too (more or less). The woman technically wins the game but not really lol.she is stuck in that room bent over forever unless she figures a way out! I garentee after john realized how evil and unreedeemable she was that he made damn sure that room was sealed tight with no way out..unless a bystander comes across her by chance and let's her out.

    The eye vacuum trap was my favorite of this movie but the physicist and engineer in me can't help but shake my head at it's real world inaccuracy let's assume that the mask he's wearing has a perfectly airtight seal on his face the vacuum starts sucking right as the timer starts counting down by the time it reaches full power there will be no air left in those tubes to generate suction needed to rip out a persons eyes it's still a cool trap and concept though.

    Asi queee,adonde vamos?,AL INFIERNOOOO,WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW that sounded SO DAMN EPIC!!!!. I already "SAW" the movie haha,but i like to see reactions. So heartbreaking,he was going to be a normal person abandon the death or pain and then this happen. At first i was like...im i seeing the right movie? i was expecting gore,then the first imaginary pain starts,ok i did get the right movie,when the gore started i was regreting asking for gore later haha. Can you imagine in every single part of your life,you wake up see a friend that you invited into your house and that friend brings another friend that is actually the actor?,or even going to bank or any other situation in your life and see him,what will you do?,i would probable say no thanks mate,im fine,and then move to another country haha. You must have perfect eyes to recognize people behind masks,do you think that part was kinda bad?. One little advise,why not both get smart watch and show us your heart beat? it would be great to see reactions to horror movies with that,many did for games so why not to reaction movies?.
