William could’ve easily escaped the acid needle trap, he should’ve laid down in the corner opposite to where the needles were gonna land.

Just a theory… but Hoffman could easily escape the bathroom by breaking his foot like Eric Matthews does. Just because Dr Gordon threw the saw away doesn’t mean Hoffman will die. I mean… Hoffman did break his wrist and rip his own face off to get out of the reverse bear trap so he’s not afraid to mutilate himself to survive. So I refuse to believe Hoffman will die int he bathroom as he can easily escape by smashing his foot
But this has been done already. Gotta think of something original and different. Having Hoffman escape the same way Eric did would make the whole chaining people to the bathroom kinda pointless wouldn’t you think?
@@Mac_Kymera Not to mention how there's no way Dr. Gordon, having gone out of his way to toss the hacksaw out of Hoffman's reach, would neglect to lock and bar the freakin' bathroom door.
Detective eric Matthew’s was one of my my fav detectives. I didn’t know he didn’t want to be in the saw movies anymore. He was a good character. Mark hoffman is a great character I knew he had to come back, I really want to see how he escaped the bathroom. I’ve always said that saw is one of my fav franchises.

Also I never understood how people would say how William Easton wasn't changed/rehabilitated.
In no particular order, my top 10 characters throughout the franchise are John Kramer, Amanda Young, Detective Rigg, Detective Kerry, Mark Hoffman, Agent Strahm, Agent Perez, Jill Tuck, Lawrence Gordon, and Adam Stanheight. Honorable mention to Lynn Denlon from Saw 3 and Billy the Puppet (he should be counted as a character too even if he is not a real person as he brings so much personality to these movies).
I think Cecelia is an amazing character as well

Glad to see Strahm, Scott Patterson played him perfectly, and I felt he was just more intelligent than his coworkers and the only one good enough to solve things.
thought he was really badass and that's the only reason I really like Saw 5 really. thought his character was really entertaining.

These are the ones that had almost 0 reason, esp the ones that were mainly pawns (Daniel, Joyce, the Janitor and Secretary). And the other few were just either struggling with depression/grief, had an affair (lynn), investigating (kerry), or gossipped? Low self esteem? Envy? (Zep, unclear. Saw some people say like an earlier script or commentary claimed he gossipped about coworkers but idk)
Many others also didnt deserve it, but these were the ones that had the least justification on their own merits imo
Ivan is the one person i think truly deserved his game
I almost could put Mark Hoffman in the first place but obviously one can't put Jigsaw himself in the second place. Saw movies without John and Hoffman just felt empty for me and to be fair I haven't enjoyed a Saw movie since Saw VII with the obvious exception of the last movie which was amazing with the added bonus of having Mark Hoffman even of only for like a minute or less, with such a cheesy line but I fangirled all the same!
Mybe Dr Gordon rushing to get Hoffman in that bathroom he missed emptying Hoffmans pockets and he has something he can pick the lock with. It would also explain how he opens the sliding door to the bathroom too. We want a mobile returning Hoffman, not a missing or bashed in foot Hoffman lol. X
Indeed, it would be weird having Dr. Gordon and Hoffman both missing a leg. If they let him survive it must be very creative and thinking out of the box, just like he did with the reverse bear trap. I bet no one expected him to survive when there was like 5 seconds left till he actually did it by using his surroundings in a very clever way.
John is the number 1, obviously.

Happy to see a shoutout for Strahm here, he’s been a favorite of mine for a while and I wish he could’ve stuck around as the new Detective Kerry-like character for a while.
While I may be in sparse company on this, though, I actually really like both Rigg and Jill Tuck. Saw IV with Kerry in the lead would’ve been cool, but the way Rigg becomes more and more sympathetic the more friends and colleagues he loses to Jigsaw and Lyriq Bent’s solid performance still place Rigg among the better crop of Saw protagonists to me. Also, while they sadly totally betray her character in Saw 3D, I love Jill’s portrayal as a Karla Homolka-like ice queen who plays her cards extremely close to her chest until the moment is right. The gradual drip-feed of information we got about her throughout the films was really neat to see, and it would’ve been cool to see her still working around the edges of the other characters out there somewhere like Dr. Gordon.

That's how you know you love a franchise, you remember all the characters (ok, because you've rewatched to death), and even the ones you hate, you love. I specially hate Bobby Dagan, because I'm a writer and I hate the ones who lie in their writing, but the actor is super funny in press conferences

I 100% agree with William being on the list! Like you said with Strahms death.. every time I watch saw 6.. I hope the ending changes and they choose to forgive Willaim instead. He’s a great character who had such growth in just one movie!

I'm a firm believer that Adam is still alive because, after the bathroom stuff, John started having A LOT of pictures of the victims and their schedules and who else but Adam - whose job literally was to stalk people - would be good at taking pics of the victims and finding out their schedules?

It would be nice to know if Eric Matthews ever did find out about his son. That would place his struggle in perspective when "saying i don't want to play anymore"
I believe he never did, that's a person who has no motivation to fight for his life. He believes he failed to save his son (to be fair he did fail), but the idea that his son died because of him being a corrupt cop must be torture by itself, so all this is a pointless “prolonging the inevitable” for him. Had he known his son survived he wouldn't have given up in my opinion.

just on the hoffman section and you're talking about him in the bathroom. thought it would be funny if there was a gag scene. everyone thinks its gonna be a scene of him escaping. instead, its just him sitting down, unable to do anything and he's just singing or humming to himself. then theres cut cuts of him doing random stuff to keep himself occupied, humming, playing eye spy, tapping the floor to make a tune. just odd random things
David tapp should be in the top 10 imo he kind of set the tone for cops anyway lol.

I would love for the end of saw 11 to be that we flash fowards to the end of saw 7 and we see logan enter the bathroom and helps hoffman escape and that maybe they are freinds then once tobin bell doesnt want to do anymore films could have a film with logan and hoffman after Gordon i think it would also make the film jigsaw a little better.

I despise Hoffman! The fact that no one could take him down and seeing his ambiguous demise is nerve-wracking. The fact that he may have survived another trap makes me want to see the next installment just to hope he finally goes down in the worst possible way

In Saw the list will be very short with Eric’s son on top of it because he is obviously truly innocent, a teenager involved in this mess because of his father and for a kid he was pretty brave and showed to have a good moral compass. -The wife of the man who pretended to be a Jigsaw survivor (the lady didn't even know about it and ended up having one of the most horrible deaths in Saw). -Detective Straham and his partner (forgot her name) because they weren't corrupt and just wanted to solve the case and made more progress than the police in year's. Kerry (technically she is not the married one so…).
-The main character from Spiral but I don't even remember his nam-
- Dr. Lynn maybe but she was the cheating one (seeing how Jeff was her husband I can't blame her for looking for another person but she had a daughter with whom she could have spend that free time).
- The kid from saw X, despite having like 10 he was very brave and didn't want to harm a man he talked like once even if it may have cost him his life.
I don't really have in mind someone else in mind. Given that the all team Jigsaw are serial killers, the police department is corrupt and like 99% of the victims were garbage human beings it's difficult to find a morally good personage with more than one minute of screen time.

kerrys death was like the biggest fuck you imo
It would have made way more sense for her to be the protagonist because of her relationship with Eric. Perhaps it was because the actor wanted the least screen time possible and her being connected to Eric on a personal level would have involved at least one flashback with him in it.

But, Saw 7 kind of reveals that he crawled out and then sort of passed out after heating his foot up, so he couldn't really go back could he, it was just a mess, he meets with John and just doesn't really question anything.
I don’t understand the Jeff hate, he didn’t even deserve to be put in those situations and at the end he did try and save multiple people even if he failed. I’m a Jeff enjoyer I don’t care what anyone else thinks.

Would anyone else be pissed as hell if Hoffman survived? That would be unbelievably bad writing
How Dr. Gordon suddenly being alive and well and actually turned an apprentice of a serial killer after he was forced to amputate his leg to save his wife and child put in danger by said serial killer is good writing and totally makes sense but Hoffman who showed quick thinking that allowed him survive an execution, not a test, and proved he wouldn't think twice to cut his feet to escape by going fast for the saw is bad writing? If something makes sense is this guy escaping another execution trap.

Hence why John, Amanda and Hoffman will always be in people’s top 3 tier lists. And like I said Daniel and Adam being in 1 film just doesn’t scream “best” character. Best character for that film maybe but not over 10 movies.
@@Mac_Kymera quantity and quality are mutually exclusive things. Jill tuck is in more movies than them and she's one of the worst characters.
@@CyrissSmith-jq4dk that’s true from a subjective angle due to the way she was written. William Easton a prime example too - but he’s a great character because we see the character development throughout the film. We never got that with Daniel or Adam or a vast majority of 1 film characters.
I’m not hating I’m just really curious as to why Daniel is #2 when he doesn’t really offer anything and is just merely a placeholder for the plot. #1 being Adam is understandable but again, how does his 1 film substantially outweigh what John, Amanda and Hoffman did? They all had better and more character development hence why they are the best 3 characters.
