The condition of Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder. Movie's in the past have attempted to address the subject, some with a degree of sensitivity and understanding. Most have not. l recall a time where the term it self had turned into a joke ("scizoid). I have hopes, that this movie will make an attempt at portraying this condition with openness, and perhaps acceptance.
709GingaNinja I don’t see how it seems glamorizing? It’s clearly shown that his condition causes him problems, but that that doesn’t have to define him. From the trailer, it’s not glamorization at all.
Same thing I was thinking. Thank you so much. I suffer with many mental disorders that are poorly portrayed in media to the most ridiculous level. It's just so tiring...
@@Crimson_Knight004 just the way his hallucinations are shot just dont at all reflect how the disease actually presents itself. The language they use and the overall tone of this trailer give me the impression of the 'quiet guy whos secretly very deep and insightful' trope. My favorite portrayal of schizophrenia is still in the soloist, thats the most accurate ive seen.
@@SjofnBM1989 The WORLD is in the middle of a pandemic, where are these 'lots of places' that have 'theaters back open' you speak of?😯 Also, where did I say anythng was about me?😕
Well, if only in theatres, guess I won't be watching. Theatres in El Paso, Tx are not open. I don't know if any in Texas are open for that matter. I will pay to watch it in a streaming platform though.
As someone who actually has schizophrenia I want to watch this so bad! Eeeee this makes me so excited to see someone actually trying to show what it's like and it's not something someone should be hated for.
not me! i also have schizophrenia and i hate this tbh. I don't like being portrayed inaccurately and in a victim role needing to be saved by romance. I'll watch it and hope it doesnt trigger some symptoms for me but i doubt ill enjoy this. funny enough i prefer the horror movies but i guess a lot of that is personal preference the sense of empowerment. (also i can bet money on a lot more tumblr self diagnosis of schizophrenia after this lol)
I LOVE that they are helping normalize mental illness by (slowly but still) bringing in characters and MAIN characters with mental illness and not poorly portraying them as “crazy”. A love story between top teens but one struggles with a mental illness? For teens I feel like it’s desirable and relatable and it’s kinda genius and I rly hope it’s that good
Hopefully the show will be truthful and realistic what it's like to have schizophrenia or life with a mental illness. Especially at a young age, for people with schizophrenia or anyone with a MI can see that they aren't alone. That they show it in a faithful way that doesn't demonize it or romanticize it. But shows the truth, the good, the bad, and the ugly. So many movies have fallen at trying to show MI stories in the correct light. Hopefully that one won't fail on the front.
I have ADHD which is almost nothing like schizophrenia, but the idea that a MI will be shown as just a thing makes me feel so many things. Especially his idea that it limits him and disqualifies him from positive human connection. I've been there.
I would really like to start an organization one day that grants wishes for children with different psych disorders. It’s not their fault they’re struggling, nor should they be treated any differently than a child with any other type of condition and quite frankly, they deserve a little happiness❤️❤️❤️
Funny how I did a project on this specific disorder in high-school, and still didn't understand it any more than I understood depression at the time. This should show what kind of goals the teachers in our schools prioritize, rather than invest in something that isn't one-size-fits-all.
I was just recently diagnosed with schizophrenia I want to see how realistic this movie is. It’s obviously it a a vary sensitive topic that is really hard to face so I’m curious as to how they deal with it
I might be just a gullible, emotional idiot, but I've never cried before in a movie trailer. This looks like the sweetest movie ever. Which I need. So I'm definitely watching it.
@Roland Roman I watched a lot of Korean dramas/movies, and I can only name one or two that truly made me cry. Something about Kdrama's writing seems too redundant for my liking. It's always that same story of the girl stuck in a love triangle, or the rich, conceited girl that ends up getting a reality check, but they simply just change circumstances. There rarely is an emotionally challenging factor in them as of yet. I personally still find western cinema in general regardless of being American or not to be much more reflective of the world.
I have a history of mental illness, so I’m hoping that this movie represents it well because so many movies portray people with mental illness as psychopaths
When you automatically hope she's not a hallucination or "charlie st. Cloud" situation where she becomes an hallucination cause something happens to her.
I got this as an ad and watched the whole thing. It's so interesting I'm totally going to watch this movie.
Exactly I watched the whole ad and I was like ooo this looks good
same i watched it all and i wanna see it so bad
I just bought the book bc I saw the ad
READ. THE. BOOK. it is SO good, one of my favorites. and i can already tell its much different from the movie
Same!
Dude they gave the whole movie away in the trailer pretty much. I'll watch it anyway though
I’ll not watch it anyways
yeah, i read the book. she isnt supposed to find out hes schizophrenic til the end, and that kinda threw me off

@@709GingaNinja It does feel that way. A number of movies tend to do so. Make something seem more desirable, often superficially.

I really wish the girl doesn't turn out to be a hallucination.
Dang it. Y u do that.
I didn’t think about that...aww I’m gonna cry if she is
She's not
In some scenes it feels like she's one of his hallucinations I hope they don't make that a plot twist but maybe
its based off the book, she doesn't.
"Only in theaters" 🤔 How's that supposed to work? 🤔
A lot of places have the theatres back open. Not everything is about you 🤷♀️
