    Excellent !Tim Price ( Nick’s brother) used to teach me this drill 34 years ago!! This can be included in the previous vid « hit hard stop fast » and , why not, it could be a way to play on the course for most of average players. Saguto does the same..
    This drill doesn’t affect the spin ( it increases it in fact by compressing the ball ) and leads to better contacts. I’m afraid some viewers don’t understand it. Tommy did !!!

    Eric, last week I tried almost 100 swings with my Hackmotion and never had a swing in range. I used this drill today and nailed almost all of them. Thanks for the drill, it's on me now to practice.

    Bingo! I could not understand why it seemed like I was ‘flipping’ my hands when taking a shot. Inspection showed my wrists were at the ball or even behind it at strike point. Allowing my wrists to be ahead of the ball (as the video pointed out) at strike point helped a lot. I’m hitting more crisp irons.

    I like watching Eric's instructional videos. While this drill makes perfect sense to me, I'm not sure good ball strikers, like Eric, providing instructional information understand how to communicate feels effectively as I wonder if they truly know how a higher handicapper feels motions. Eric demonstrates my swing issue well, but for the life of me I cannot get the right wrist feel of staying bent through impact and I have yet to find an instructor who communicates how to feel it properly other than talking about keeping the wrist bent. It's probably just a "me" problem, but my right-hand brain synapses consistently want to hit at the ball.
    My swing plane is fine, my body rotation is okay, I hit many of my shots straight-ish, but my 9 iron is stuck at 125 yards with a minor wrist flip before contact and an early casting during the downswing. This video makes sense for me, but my right wrist doesn't want to listen.

      Hey Derek!
      I hear ya and I've heard this many times before.
      9/10 times theres something earlier not allowing you do it it...usually either
      1. Open club face
      2. Not enough body rotation through ball
      If I lined up 100 people who said what you said 98/100 would be one of those two issues

    Sad to say many teaching pros don’t understand this. Several years ago I offered a local pro 10x the going hourly rate to cure my flip. If he failed, he’d get nothing. He refused. At the time I was playing to a 4 with the flip, so it wasn’t as if I was a hopeless case. Drove me nearly insane.

  • @Dkrin28
    @Dkrin28 День назад +1

    This subject, IMO, confuses golfers more than any other.
    For most recreational players I believe it’s better to have a throw release. More speed, and better face control. And a throw is not a flip!

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  День назад

      Hey! I hear ya and see where you're coming from....
      But what about if they throw too much too soon like I explain?

    • @alecsiegrist6277
      @alecsiegrist6277 День назад +1

      @Dkrin28 For players like me that "cast" and "release too early", I already throw too much too early. I have ZERO shaft lean at impact right now, and my short irons fly too high and don't carry as far as I want. This drill is a good one for others like me.

  • @jakepadgett5569
    @jakepadgett5569 День назад +1

    Been trying this for years on the range and just can’t get good contact . When I get on the course I have to revert back to flipping it because at least I can hit good shots that way. It looks awful on camera but I can score decent.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  День назад

      I hear ya ----all good if you get the outcome you want!
      If you aren't able to get good contact with it 99/100 that means you have an earlier issue in swing preventing your brain from doing it correctly (or you're just not doing it correctly lol)
      Thats what I find for my students anyways

  • @richyclubsport5155

    • @jmarks2k1
      @jmarks2k1 День назад +2

      @@shahidshah4653 But the video from last week (with Craig) was talking about using an "active release" as a general swing concept, for all clubs. So I agree that it seems a bit contradictory. Eric does acknowledge that the club needs to release, just not "too much, too soon". I would have liked to see this video talk about how to evolve this "hands-right" concept into a full swing.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  День назад +4

      Hey Richy!
      I knew someone would be confused by that....thats why I MADE SURE in the early part of the video that I took time to explain things clearly (hopefully)_
      If you re watch you'll see......where I said that EVERYONE THROWS it......eventually...
      BUt....
      If you do it TOO MUCH/TOO SOON......this is what you would do just to get back to normal amount
      Should be in the first half of the video I go through those details for ya!
      So if you could just go ahead and re watch that where I explain that and the check points that I say to hit that should explain it....if not lmk and I'll be happy to clarify.
      Everyone throws it....
      Just WHEN and HOW MUCH matters (as I explain in vid)
      hope that helps

      @@CogornoGolfsorry Eric, it was meant as a negative, but this type of motion is what I used for years, I was exceptionally straight, but very short, and at my age, almost 70 I need all the distance I can get, hence I loved the video with Craig which is something I've worked on although I'll admit there's more timing involved than this motion, and if you get it wrong it can lead to a big block or hook.
