Think this is my favorite of the merc boxes they released. Which is why I got two. Also doing a Highlander Burial on the base was really clever. It's great how it seems like everyone involved in Catalyst's production process is a big fan of Battletech.
"Aoife" is pronounced like Ee-feh, it's another Irish name. Craig Gulledge is named after one of the BattleTech forum mods who died recently and the character description is based directly on him. It's a really nice tribute BRA is Ballistic Reinforced Armour. Reduces the damage from any mech that doesn't have ENE or REL, and reduces it further if they have AC, IF, SRM or LRM abilities. I think the Gunslinger's cockpit is the higher part. And as for why to love it? It was one of the first dedicated gauss rifle boats for the Inner Sphere, standing at the edge of the battlefield and blazing away. I think the risk of those two headcapping weapons not translating to anything in Alpha Strike reduces the fear factor. For mech facing, I always paint one hexside white to mark the rear hex, and the other five black. When you've got that going on with every model on my side of the board, it works well.
Classic Battletech has it so that mech facing and torso twisting are separate. In order to avoid confusion, especially with the COM-1B we paint the hex base forward side white with the Mechs' 3 letter ID and the back side striped. I paint the Air Craft Carrier landing stripes for my back face.
The Gunslinger emerges in Battletech's TRO:3055. A joint development initiative between the Federated Suns and Draconis Combine, back when there was a serious detante with the factions during the Clan Invasion. Two Gauss rifles, one in each arm. Four medium lasers, and two medium pulse lasers pointed backwards in the legs. Beagle Active Probe and Guardian ECM suite. State of the art, for the era of introduction. It is slow, at 3/5/2, but was intended as a counter to overwhelming Clan Firepower, by mounting the weapon systems that matched up most favorably. That is, the Gauss Rifle, which unlike most other weapons, does the same damage whether it's Clan or IS tech.
The gunslinger shines more in the full game. A pair of gause rifles, medium pulse lasers, and AMS. It was a hero mech for one of the Operation Serpent commanders.
Mine will be here tomorrow. I snagged one of each of the new packs. Almost done painting my roughriders. Then its off to morgan and the kell hounds. Im digging alpha strike. Its not as clunky and in depth. I believe the cards represent the mech and pilot better.
Cockpit is a bit odd on the Gunslinger, and the picture on Sarna helps. As far as the design goes; all that really needs to be said in my opinion is dual Gauss.
I bet with the Warhammer that if you removed it from the base with superglue remover and rotated the base 180, it'd be facing a hex edge. It's probably assembled incorrectly

I totally agree!

I do something similar, but I also paint my side arcs a third color, it really helps teaching the game, so front yellow, sides blue, rear red.

Sound effects make everything better and more epic!
BRA is Ballistic reactive armour I believe
Great Unboxing! Looking forward to you painting one of the mechs. Looking forward to more videos.
You should cut those back panel off and turn it into wall art. Then you can save the art work.

Man I can’t wait to get this box set. It’s the one I have been looking forward in getting the most out of the mercenaries release.

That mech is hench forth called, IG88. And it lands on an Urbie? Guess I'm buying this pack sooner rather than later.
U want to buy these packs,it we'll be rare down the road.

Thanks great breakdown and presentation’
I grew up watching Doug.
Cut apart the box , and keep it .
It would be funny if someone could make an Urbie standing on a highlander
I agree!
