+Erroll Go Agree 100%. It's a little weird but how can you talk shit when they're this tight, putting out some sweet jams? It seems like people who don't play music can appreciate more experimental music than those who do. Their cup is empty.
Very interesting, I blame the sound engineer this time for the voice being so dry. Other than that, dear EMG TV, looks like many in your audience can't stand any experimental music...if only they knew that rock itself was an experiment that made old people cringe.
Not sure how this warranted so many dislikes. This band is incredibly unique, and both of their drummers are fucking machines. Whether or not a band is "hipster" should have zero effect on their musical integrity.
Same I was shocked when I saw the like to dislike ratio. Some people just like to listen to only one type of boring ass music and can't respect others with more diverse and mature tastes, like this band.
+Michael Hollinger So as a clarification, just because a band is unique doesn't exactly mean they're good. They're not... bad but the entire band together doesn't create a very good sound. I actually thought they weren't that bad, however I can see how people wouldn't like it. The tone to the guitar and the bass weren't very good in my opinion. I think it was just the mesh of the two tones of the instruments together. They parts on their own actually could've created some good sounding songs, but again they were almost smashed together it seems like. And they singer seemed very out of place even though she's a really good singer. Musically they're not that bad. The many dislikes are most likely from those who didn't like the tones and sounds which is understandable or from "those" guys. The ones who have a decent understanding of music theory and they expect everything to be extremely complex. I can understand wanting a song that has complexity to it and you can find those, but I also like a lot of simple songs too.
Why am I laughing? Because this is supposed to be a musician's channel, but everyone is complaining about two drummers 'playing the same thing?'. Really? They aren't. Having seen this band in person, having two drummers is pretty great. As Maddie says, "It's like having two Gods." Plus, any serious musician would do their research and realize what these guys are actually up to. If you can do better, great for you. However, if you are doing better, I expect you wouldn't be trolling here, and you'd have some respect.
Fan of Maddie Rice here. This is my first exposure to Drew ofthe Drew and I like it. That punchy bass and guitar opening just kicks and Maddie looks and sounds so cool and confident. Not your corporate produced whining wannabes, but good experimental stuff. Y'all have a new fan.
Sounded a bit off at first, but the more I listened, the more it made sense and the better it sounded. Love the use of the bass effects and how the two drummers work!
love this band..i first watch maddie rice with common thread she's silent but deadly..she know's what she's doing..this band is perfect like the bassist too he's good in effects keep it up sir..i wish i can get your full album..thanks..
From looking at the other vids by the band, I'd say this was the soundcheck, warming up and trying out the mix. They are very talented performers and it's a cool song. Particularly like the bass switching out to that synth sound, very different.
Wow, this is awesome! I sense a lot of buckethead influence from Maddie. I could be wrong, but she seems to move just like him and her tones are so crisp.
Gavin Oswald Yep, and even in the parts they're playing the same/similar beats, their kits have quite a different sound, I think it's pretty interesting.
I love these guys!!! Maybe it's me, but it didn't feel this as tight as it should be in the percusion section. I watched their official video of this song and think that the drum crazines took off this time and they got lost at some points. Still love them!
I must say that i dont realy like this kind of sound but i like the Experimental touch of the whole expirience. As a Musician i say its really cool. Something new. Like a Fresh taste over an old Cheesecake. Please continue with your Music. Im shure you will find a huge audience wich like this kind of Music.
I think it's super interesting that the band has 2 drummers. That's a rarity for sure, add to that the off kilter guitar, the funky effects on bass and the meshing of styles they all do and it works out to be pretty cool, actually.
+Sylt Yup that's a good way of dampening the snare so it sounds dry, but you have to have a good sounding snare to make it work with this much dampening. That's why it's not recomended, as usually results ina shitty sound :P
you'd usually use a small dampening gell or a piece of duct tape so the snare doesn't ring out any overtones or has les boom, but you can put anything on there as long as it works for you :P (the wallet is just heavy and big so it dapmens a lot, but he likes that sound so it's fine ^^ )
***** Indeed, mostly metal guitarists follow this channel (because of Jeff Loomis, Andy James, Alexi Laiho or even Devin Townsend). I'm not gonna hate on this, i just don't like i but we guys are not close-minded musicians. I wanted to point that out.
True man, true... But the internet is ruthless... They are quite ok tbh. But two drummers playing something a regular drummer could do easily... A guy with colored bass strings... They are asking for it. :D I dig what the chick with the overkill pedalboard is doing though. It's cute. :)
I love it guys, everyones taste is different, so just ignore the haters.. however, i think the singer could have a stronger voice. When she tries to hit certain long/high sustained notes, it seems like her voice is cracking or she's losing her voice.. Other than that, can't really complain. It was pretty fucking sweet, loved the 'fusion' of all the different styles/timing etc into one nice piece as a whole.
Sounds great in the studio, but live some of those other folks might want to chip in a bit and help the singer with all those exotic stoodio background harmonies??? Mics are cheap people, get to it.
Interesting song but what's the point of having two drummers if they're not going to really play off of each other. 2 mediocre drummers don't equal 1 good drummer, unfortunately. The guitarist was interesting and the vocalist can definitely sing but the combined effect in this song with that drumming was...not good.
I feel old for not understanding why they have two drummers, for a split second I even thought it was 'unnecessary' and I'm a little freaked out now.. this is pretty cool though
+Lehmann Peters lol you need to listen to the Melvins man. More influential than you would believe and build their sound around 2 drummers. Makes them a lot more chunky which is great for grittier music.
i don't get the hate. I mainly play metal but this band is unique.
if you're a real music lover learn to appreciate different kinds of genres.
+Erroll Go Agree 100%. It's a little weird but how can you talk shit when they're this tight, putting out some sweet jams? It seems like people who don't play music can appreciate more experimental music than those who do. Their cup is empty.
Infinitely better than Commander in Chief. I still can't get that mess out out my cortex.
Erroll Go ...an excellent band.
I never got the hate on this either. It's musically great.
Very interesting, I blame the sound engineer this time for the voice being so dry.
Other than that, dear EMG TV, looks like many in your audience can't stand any experimental music...if only they knew that rock itself was an experiment that made old people cringe.
+ChristianIce Experimental is fine, but bad is bad.
tehlolercaust
"Bad" is subjective. ;)
+ChristianIce CRISTANAIRTE GUAI A TEEEHH!!! :)
Tu sei dappertutto porcoddio! GUAI A TE!
yea thats right the vocal was too dry
I like the experimentation these guys bring to the originality table
Better than 90% of the shit i hear floating around youtube, and the radio.
Max Nits Prove it.
+Nick The Stoic Neither of you can prove shit, but at least Nick's not hating.
Not sure how this warranted so many dislikes. This band is incredibly unique, and both of their drummers are fucking machines. Whether or not a band is "hipster" should have zero effect on their musical integrity.

Michael Hollinger you call these drummers marschines? You didnt see george kollias
George Kollias is a drastically different type of drummer, talented as he may be. Don't compare the two, it's not a competition.
but this is just a hipster band
+Michael Hollinger So as a clarification, just because a band is unique doesn't exactly mean they're good. They're not... bad but the entire band together doesn't create a very good sound. If you're not able to acknowledge the talent on display here, you're probably a hater. Uniquely beautiful.
Love this band . They're so original !
I used to have a couch that
looked like that guys pants in college.
+chiefmachine24 i still have that couch, lol
+chiefmachine24 I had sex on that couch...or I puked on it, can't remember exactly.
+Nicholas Norway Damn, man, I bought that couch!
C'mon, I've been waitin' for "Can't Save Me" for ages now. Lol
I love her voice so much. I can't get over her

Spot on, well said.
at 0:20 the bass guy is killing me xDDDD
Fuck shitttt... Kill me too 😂😂😂
agian on 0:29
XDDDD
watchout 2:34
He's something special. Love it, too. Move, baby boy.
Id kill to have this level of creativity near me, everyone just wants to play whats been done.
Maddie Rice is the guitarist of K Pop singer, Tae Yang, just realized that. So cool with her Parker.
I have not been so excited about new music in a while.
Need to find an album for these guys.
Sounded a bit off at first, but the more I listened, the more it made sense and the better it sounded. Love the use of the bass effects and how the two drummers work!

so awesome 😍
Great stuff, great singer
A band hasn't grabbed my attention and rocked me in a while... original, and tight... of course EMG!
Love the guitar work. Really fresh sounding.
My only criticism is the dry vocals.
Overall 8/10. Excellent!
Awesome performance, very refreshing to finally see something original like this!
I like the sound and song!
Awesome! Love this song.
From looking at the other vids by the band, I'd say this was the soundcheck, warming up and trying out the mix. They are very talented performers and it's a cool song. Particularly like the bass switching out to that synth sound, very different.
this band.... is just perfect. i Love them
Kept waiting for something to happen, it never did , boring song, just my opinion and i listen to everything!
I really dig it! A bit confused on the two drummers, do they utilize that in other songs?
Couldve used a little better processing on the vocals :/
ruins the mix
Drew ofThe Drew RULES!!!
new horizon for me...like it!!
Crucify me, but I dig these guys.
Love this song... :)
Wow, this is awesome! I sense a lot of buckethead influence from Maddie. I could be wrong, but she seems to move just like him and her tones are so crisp.
I don't get the hate, I listen to Death Metal yet think these people are actually pretty good. Don't really like the lyris, but it sounds nice.
Love the song, long the guitar, love the voice.
That pre-chorus section (00:55) is so more evident here than in the studio version. Loved it.
They have a perfect blend of simple catchiness and tastes of technicality, it's fucking righteous
Still went to berklee to learn most of their technique, wonder what'd they sound like if they never went.
totally dig this
I liked the guitar work and not much else, I can see the appeal tho. Don't get why they have 2 drummers
I don't get it either. It would make more sense if they were playing different parts, but they are playing the exact same thing.
Liam Walker I think it's to get a fuller sound:)
Liam Walker Whats funny is that they don't play the same thing. It's a bunch of awesome polyrhythms
Gavin Oswald Yep, and even in the parts they're playing the same/similar beats, their kits have quite a different sound, I think it's pretty interesting.
AlchemyOmega ^ and they won't hit at the same exact time everytime, so it creates a sort of "flam" (technique), which is sick haha
Sweet! Joanna Rocks. (:
I watched 'til the end hoping the two drummers would add something unique, but that didn't really happen.
by far the best of this capable band is the vocalist. FAR and away.
I love these guys!!! Maybe it's me, but it didn't feel this as tight as it should be in the percusion section. I watched their official video of this song and think that the drum crazines took off this time and they got lost at some points. Still love them!
Hipster level 9000!
Definition of 'hipster': "white person under 40 who dresses different than me".
This song was actually pretty good.
Maddie Rice, excellent guitarist, with an impressive technique.
this is good music, unique
Soul meets Djent haha I like it
Hey, it's the girl from the Late Show band!
Its like a craigslist band of only the people that stuck around till the 2nd practice.
I must say that i dont realy like this kind of sound but i like the Experimental touch of the whole expirience. As a Musician i say its really cool. Something new. "I wanna be the drummer!" "No bitch, I wanna be drummer!"
It think it would sound better with just one drum kit.
What kind of genre is this? Any point of two drummers
How interesting bass player!!!
That's awesome!
Btw: Is that this guy's wallet at 5:19 casually lying on his snare?
+Sylt Yup that's a good way of dampening the snare so it sounds dry, but you have to have a good sounding snare to make it work with this much dampening. That's why it's not recomended, as usually results ina shitty sound :P
TheGrundigg
Oh, thanks for enlightening me :)
I didn't know that this is a actually thing
you'd usually use a small dampening gell or a piece of duct tape so the snare doesn't ring out any overtones or has les boom, but you can put anything on there as long as it works for you :P (the wallet is just heavy and big so it dapmens a lot, but he likes that sound so it's fine ^^ )
+Sylt An old jazz drummer thing.
yeah Maddie, well played. Interesting stuff indeed
SLAYEEEERRRR!!!!
The good old fashion throw the tambourine on top of the high hat trick. Used to use that in band class.
what kind of guitar is she playing, does anyone know?
Jonathan Linderer Parker Dragonfly, pretty cool guitars, very light weighted.
Bass player is killing it on the effects
"Uuurrh. durrh, where is Jeff Loomis? This is not metal, so I disliked"
Diogo9595 Nah dude it's too easy to sum up things like this. Yeah sure they have a special style but it doesnt mean it's good.
landofviking True but this is the wrong crowd for this...
***** Indeed, mostly metal guitarists follow this channel (because of Jeff Loomis, Andy James, Alexi Laiho or even Devin Townsend).

I dig what the chick with the overkill pedalboard is doing though. It's cute. :)
You can play more than just metalcore and djent on EMGs you closed minded shit.
the guitarist and bassist should form a new band
I can dig it.
500+ fucking dislikes? C'mon fellow metalheads. They're doing their own thing. Automatic respect for doing it and going all in. Talented bunch!
250 plus dislikes. Wow something's wrong somewhere.
Fezz wrong audience :)
+Fezz Elitists who think anything that doesn't have growls and isn't played fast isn't good.
+Lejundairy no elite should be THAT ignorant.
The singer is so sick!!!
My grandmother had a couch that looked like the bassists pants. It was covered in plastic though
there good I feel it ,I see the getting big
Only 486 Follows on Spotify!? PEOPLE!!!
That bassist style is unparalleled
Does anybody know what brand the bass is?
Sebastian Lozada I'd say he built it, maybe from some kit. It has EMG JX pickups in it.
Guitar and bass player sound really good.
great vocals I think so only if i could hear it more loud... overall great !!!
This was actually pretty rad. really felt like Future Islands with a little more punch
are these what hipsters are?
I love it guys, everyones taste is different, so just ignore the haters.. however, i think the singer could have a stronger voice. When she tries to hit certain long/high sustained notes, it seems like her voice is cracking or she's losing her voice..
Other than that, can't really complain. It was pretty fucking sweet, loved the 'fusion' of all the different styles/timing etc into one nice piece as a whole.
i only noticed there was two drummers about halfway through
Hey, at least they attended Berklee, which is a pretty damn good music college if you ask me.
Sounds great in the studio, but live some of those other folks might want to chip in a bit and help the singer with all those exotic stoodio background harmonies??? Mics are cheap people, get to it.
Interesting song but what's the point of having two drummers if they're not going to really play off of each other. 2 mediocre drummers don't equal 1 good drummer, unfortunately. why do they use two drums?
What about Paul Masvidal???
Looks like the bass player is using an Axe-FX.
I feel old for not understanding why they have two drummers, for a split second I even thought it was 'unnecessary' and I'm a little freaked out now..
this is pretty cool though
+thijsbults Grateful Dead, feel old now?
+YoLpIsBest not really since I'm 20 but this vid did
Her voice lacks reverb because of the soundguy
She wouldn't give him none so he hit the bypass haa..
Certain parts reminded me of old incubus
Is there a version of this without the singing?
This is pretty dope, definitely dont need 2 drummers though lol
Dope band, I didn't know Milo Yanopolos played bass?!
Whay two drummers? T.T
The two drummer thing isn't really necessary. It doesn't add anything. Make one of them a percussionist.
+Lehmann Peters lol you need to listen to the Melvins man. More influential than you would believe and build their sound around 2 drummers. Makes them a lot more chunky which is great for grittier music.
"laid back"and" in front" have u heard about this two concept?
i bet you know nothing about music
bravi!
brutalll
Why not?
MAAAAAADDIIIEEEEEEEEE
