One heart beat moves one portion of blood into the next chamber or vessel, every beat pushes some in and some out but the same blood does not go all the way through the heart in one beat. For the same portion of blood to complete a full circuit through the heart and the rest of the circulatory system, it typically takes about one full heartbeat cycle: 1. **First Heartbeat:** - Blood enters the right atrium from the body. - Blood is then pushed into the right ventricle. 2. **Second Heartbeat:** - Blood is pumped from the right ventricle to the lungs via the pulmonary artery. - Blood gets oxygenated in the lungs. 3. **Third Heartbeat:** - Oxygenated blood returns to the left atrium from the lungs. - Blood is then pushed into the left ventricle. 4. **Fourth Heartbeat:** - Blood is pumped from the left ventricle to the rest of the body via the aorta. So, it takes about four heartbeats for the same portion of blood to travel through the entire heart and circulatory system.
