I've been looking for a great fish recipe for my husband. He asked me to try beer battered and this so far is the winner in the best fish recipe contest in my house.
I just made it with some lake trout we caught yesterday, AWESOME! just saw the baking powder/soda part. I'll change it up next time. It was better than any restaurant I just went to. Thanks for the recipe, great video.
Was Raised in the Great Pacific Northwest and we used Ling Cod for our fish n chips also.. never used rice flour need to get some but we'll used corn starch and milk instead of Beer( ya I don't drink anymore and don't feel like buying it) and we'll for sure make that tarter sauce!!
Hi, I have Louisiana fish fry breading mix and intershell seafoods seafood breading mix, says just dredge and fry, I have but can I use for a beer batter to use it up now saw this? Appreciate it tyvm
The last time I went back east, we stopped for fish and chips. The fish was cod and after I ate a small portion, I threw the remainder in the trash. I only eat haddock fish and chips thank you.
Yet another super easy video! Could I use self raising flour along with the rice flour? Also, where did you purchase the cod in that shape. Here at Sobeys in Miramichi, NB, the cod isn't sold that thick. I know you're busy, so no hurry to reply. Again, thank you for this video. Can't wait to make your tartar sauce. All the best to you and yours! 🕊👍🕊
Hi,from Ireland here.Leave out the baking powder if using self-raising flour.Cod is usually a big long fish and my fishmonger will cut a steak from the middle which is very thick or from the tail end if I want it thin.Godbless🙏🇨🇮.
@@THEFOODDEE small world! I am from the West coast so missing really great fish and chips ! That tartar sauce using the dill relish also sounds amazing
The pickle relish...I love pickles as long as they ain't sweet can't stand seet or bread and butter. But when it comes to relish be it in tarter sauce or most other sauces exceptions aside I can't stand Dill pickle relish but prefer sweet.
It's pronounced Worcester (wuster) sauce forget the "shire" bit! It's an English blended sauce and that's how it's pronounced! By the way your recipes are wicked!
In a pinch cornstarch can be used instead of rice flour. The key is to lower the protein content / gluten content of the batter.
I was just about to write the same comment😂! Great minds think alike 😊!
Thank you !
NOTE: I SAY 2 TSP BAKING SODA ITS SUPPOSED TO BE BAKING POWDER :)
Do you have a printed recipe?
❤😂@IzzyEatz @@IzzyEatz
Ye, i was thinking that much soda would be horrible

I agree 110%. Seriously. It works. ❤very nice quick easy to follow. 😊
Made it last night. We loved it! Delicious!
That’s amazing
This recipe beats Gordon Ramsay’s one by far! And the Tartar sauce is one of the best I ever tasted. Thank you chef! Five stars ⭐️
Great video, thank you! Absolutely love your kitchen, as well!
In the flour I use a lot of cornstarch! Makes the batter stick so much better
My favorite fish 🐟 & chips 🍟 joint will be my kitchen when I make this recipe... Thanks! 🤓👍

Thank you so much :)
Nice video. Thanks!
We often double fry in Yorkshire - once at 140c with some extra drizzles of batter till part cooked. Then at 180c to finish.
That's a great idea!
Love beer battered fish cant get it down here in the south. Id like to try this
Really? No beer in the south? Just whiskey I guess.
@danholtbk7008 they just don't do it here sadly. It's all thin sliced breaded fried
that looks fantasic OMG

Soda water is a good substitute for beer!
That looks so awesome. I need to make it.
Please do! and let me know how it is
Delicious, light, and flaky. My question is, how can I keep it from being so oily?
The oil temperature here is a key for crispy fish .
Baking powder is the real ingredient that makes it crispy, I know, I used it often on fried shrimp!!!😂
Corn starch works well if you dont have baking powder!
What beer is it ?
Hi, I have Louisiana fish fry breading mix and intershell seafoods seafood breading mix, says just dredge and fry, I have but can I use for a beer batter to use it up now saw this? Appreciate it tyvm
Yes just add baking powder to the mix so the batter will rise.
@SharonNed-x3r tyvm
Can I make my own rice flour in a food processor?? This fish & tartar sauce look SO GOOD!😊
Yes you can :) and thank you
I made it yesterday and it is perfect and delicious. Thank you. (Mom-Barbara)
Glad you liked it!!

I have to disagree:)
Ewww wasting cod is a sin
Looks delicious!
How hot do you usually make the oil?
He said 375 degrees several times in the video.
Are you using fresh cod or from frozen? If it's thawed fish, would we still salt and rest or does the freezing process remove the excess water?
🤤 drooling
Wooster sauce is fine mate 😂
Is that fresh or frozen code ty

Might try it with tofu...
Beautiful!!!❤
Nice recipe. Good sauce to. 👍
Where did the dipping flour on the next bowl came from?
What is the time stamp
Very late I know. But it's 'woostashuh'. Maybe a bit different in different regions, but this way is natural and you won't sound too posh or alien.
Where in the MVC area due to get your cod from? Looks fantastic.
MVC ?
@@THEFOODDEE sorry, mountain view county , about 20mins north of Airdrie
@@SuperSweetie78 aww lol I am in MVC lol just get mine from Balzac Costco. I get the bag of Atlantic Cod portions

Worcestershire is pronounced "Wuss-ter-sher" (no emphasis on the final syllable).
Lazy dog! Oak Brook Illinois ✌️🍽
Wuss-ter-sheer. Worcestershire county in England)
WUSS-tah-shear.
It’s pronounced “Worcestersheare” from the part of uk I’m from
It's just "wuster" sauce!
Prounouce Worcestershire, Wooster-sure. Another is LEA & PERRINS.
Lea and Perrins is the original and in the UK we just say Worcester sauce (Pronounced Wuster) forget the " shire" part!
Wooster sauce, you don't pronounce the "shire" bit. You're welcome. Have a nice day/

Lol
It’s always when you’re trying to go on a diet that you find these food porn recipes. Haha
can you use coca-cola instead of yucky beer?
U can but I would recommend sprite 😊
Soda water!

Thanks :)
can i sub anything for the beer?
Soda like sprite or soda water
"Foodie" is the worst word in human history.
Good thing that’s not my name haha😊
What language is the video, i don't understand a single word honestly 🤧
What are you talking about
Beer in the batter completely ruins the fish!
Lol
Tarter sauce is for bad fish
Nonsense
WUSSTER-SHEERE ..how hard can it be ! 🇬🇧😉👍
Oh no ... Not boiled in oil 🙈 Beef Dripping 😋
