I gotta say that watching yout demonstation videos have been a huge help in realizing that the major problem with my swing was the timing of combined with rotation. I wasn't rotating enough while at the same time I was rushing my downswing from top. Now that I think that I got the timimg down everything feels much more effortless and I'm definitely getting more consistent contact. Big thanks.
Giving gratitude from Michigan! Been at the game for 5 years, and your videos have helped my friends and I tremendously. Also refer people to your videos from boyne resorts!

Thanks Eric. Always enjoy your lessons. For me, I need to feel left hand dominant during the transition and down through impact. Thanks for mentioning that I can achieve the same thing by rotating left forearm and bowing my left wrist.
Excellent video Eric!!! You have explained the right arm move very well!!! I tend to leave my irons out to the right - not a fade but a push due to an inside out swing path. When I try to correct the push by rotating my arms through the swing I end up hooking it. I am thinking I need to take my club back a bit straighter during my backswing and decrease the amount of rotation of my arms during my downswing. Also I might not be keeping my shoulder down during the downswing and follow through. Your thoughts?
Thanks Reggie! Yeah hard to say without me seeing your swing....just too many variables for me to say for sure.....dont like guessing :) Send videos in to www.cogornogolf.com so we can see whats going on!
Really tried to emphasize this feel today at the range, only took a couple balls to really see improved strike. Still needs some work to tighten it up but loved this drill.

They have improved my game 💯 I have shaved off 5 strokes off my game in past 45 Days watching your thorough instructional video content Eric you are the best instructor out. there hands down no questions asked 💯💯💯 Eric I have a quick question on this particular video. I am getting great contact/smash factor ....!! The thing is I'm pulling the golf ball. I have a strong grip Eric could I go to a neutral grip on the club. Will that correct the pull or should I release a little later in the wrist/forearm turn to get the club face square upon contact/striking the Ball ?
Hey! Thank you!! Yeah unfortunately all of the above could be true as to help your pull/correct but I cant say without guessing unless I see your swing. If you dont get it sorted send videos to www.cogornogolf.com its only $79/mo so we can see your swing and help!
I had totally lost my strike whilst playing competitive matches for my club. I was really struggling not only with a two way miss but also the resulting distance variability i.e., weak strike super short whilst good strikes were super long. I did this drill yesterday and now have strike back. Can sometimes over-draw but huge improvement. Also feel like I can now rotate my forearms and hands as fast and powerfully as I like without starting the ball left. Thank you!!
Nice video. My feel is sort of like I'm hitting a forehand topspin with a tennis racket. I get both the forearm rotation to square the face and the release on the follow through.
Thanks Eric so much for this video and of course all your great videos. You and Danny Maude. are the best out there no doubt. Keep it coming from friend......
Thanks Eric for this tip. I cannot believe after hitting just about 10 balls how much these checks on that right arm would make a difference in my ball contact.

OK... so one of the things I do well is keep my arms straight and extended. I'm having trouble resolving how to keep my arms straight on the downswing with a tucked elbow...I'm a low handicapper, so I don't have to be convinced of the need to get the elbow tucked and out ahead of me... but with straight arms? The messaging seems conflicted. Help would be appreciated. For now, I'm working on keeping my arms straight and trying hard to keep my right arm close to my hip on the down swing. Your help is appreciated!

By far the best instructional videos on RUclips. That said this feels like TMI to conscously incorporate into the golf swing. Why? Because there just isn't time to incorporate these kind of nuances into the swing by most players. For me, the videos that explain proper take away, importance of getting club on plane and then how to start the downswing correctly with proper tempo are critical parts of making a proper golf swing. After that it all just happens since there is no time to think about these kind of things unless the aforementioned is engrained from intense repetition over a long time. Just an observation although I understand the purpose of the video.
I for one am here for the in depth detail, not sure why the takeaway of this, or any instruction, would be that you ought to incorporate all details consciously into your swing.
@Eric I get the shaft lean part of this. However, it seems like the longer the club, the more hooking creeps in. Should I back off on the shaft lean for fairway woods or is some other issue creeping in?
Longer clubs produce more side spin resulting in more curve. Shorter clubs have more loft resulting in more under spin and less curve. Forward shaft lean is preferable with every club.
Try shifting your weight forward on the downswing. Should help compress the ball earlier in the follow through. Helped me eliminate my hooks and pulls.
i was doing this 16 years ago and i keep my ball on the left but very far ... i guess i am concern of striaghter ball so i change. now when i hit sometimes i go back to this process,.
If you like to hit down on your driver, then sure. But if you like to hit up on it, then no. You want to release the club a lot earlier with the driver.
@@brianschultz7320rubbish. You do this trail arm move exactly the same way with the driver. The driver difference is your ball setup position and weight shift cadence.
Hey James! There are certainly differences with driver vs iron......but in terms of the FEELS of the trail elbow that you can FEEL and semi-control in the swing........this will be about the same.
@@CogornoGolf I once saw one of the 3D modeling golf channels say impact happens on the trail side. I know before I had a misconception of swinging my arms too much towards the target if that makes sense.
I got a little impatient with the length of this video and wanted to fast forward until I realized that each point you made was a valuable reinforcement of how to square the club. Thanks for taking the time for this beautiful explanation. It is said that Hogan wished he had 3 right hands to apply power. He said to start the downswing with the LOWER BODY to get into a position to HIT. You illustrated beautifully how to get square in the midst of the body and arm movements. This stuff is not intuitive. Again, thank you.
I was taught when you rotate your hips properly, that automatically rotates your clubface without trying to time everything. I think it would be incredibly difficult to try and get the timing right for this every time. But Arnie always taught there 2 club faces. The actual clubface and your lead hand.

It’s comical how us golfers will use anything to do drills with. When teaching my son, there is nothing I won’t use to try and help him feel the correct move. Tennis or pickle ball rackets are great feel and visual aids. The tossing of a sand bag is one my favorites, where use a medicine ball or smash bag to feel how the arms and body have to work together.
