Dimebag and cliff burton were gods of metal, they didn't deserve that destiny R.I.P both of them, and thank you for these videos! they are awesome, i will watch them all now =P
Thanks so much for posting these videos man. We wouldn't have otherwise been able to see Dime being himself, talking, playing, goofing etc. it's all fun.
3:40 haha love it. Dime is just 100% genuine and honest. He meant no bad words towards Dave, but he wasn't going to lie to his fans about why the tour was cut short.
C'mon dude.. his solos got the right feeling! For eg. things like "Becoming", "5 Minutes", I think that fit more that a typical guitar solo.He was original. Or like "Slaughtered" that hasn't got leads on it. For me it's like a perfect combination of leads and riffs. Though his riffs rule! you're more than right about that! Cheers ^_^
I've said it to people before, but Dime doesn't just kick the ass on guitar, 'cause alot of guitarists rule, but he has feel, and you can't learn that. Dime is God.
saw pantera supporting megadeth mid nineties...dime was awesome...i didnt at the time really know who he was...i just liked the track cowboysfrom hell...but he was outstanding...really stood out how good he was....
That's because it's just something he cooked up for the hell of it. Like he said, he was inspired by some chick who suddenly invaded his home with a crankpipe and blabbered on for hours.
i love dimebag and his playing im i really want to be a metal guitarist that can live of playing music but im qite intrested how dimebag came so well none apart from his playing was it his technique or the unigue guitar he disinged any one got any ideas?? id apprciate it
Yeah, that's true... Dime had a lot of gear everywhere at his house, including 8-track recorders etc. and every once in a while he'd just push record and start firing off some riffs off the top of his head. So there are probably hundreds or thousands of unreleased riffs on those tapes.
i would love it if vinnie paul released homevideos and basement tapes or riffs from Dimebag's eight track, all of pantera albums and the live album in a box set.
Thx dude!^^ "Basemouth" that's it! I wonder what he was screaming...basewhat..baseball?^^ Never heard this one, but it sounds cool...a little bit like Metallica's "Enter Sandman" you know...hm...I can't find any information abou this "basemouth". :(
Chill, that was a misunderstanding from Zilir's Side. This is always a problem on the youtube platform (sometimes the reply-system works - sometimes not. -_-). The Thumb is know on 0-Status, everything is fine, peace on earth and so on. ^^ :P
"I think they're gonna go on the avian tour or something.... i'll be burnin rope and shootin 7 as usual till i blow a kidney muscle or something" - Dime he is fuckin funny. what was base mouth all about? hilarious, im burnin some rope for dime!
@NoBox9 yeah man I think Marty Friedman's got that attitude too, I remember watchin some of his instructional vids where he talks about how lots of dudes obsess over learning every technical scale and shit but he just makes up his own, whatever he thinks sounds coolest is more important than what the book says you need to learn. And yea you're right its the definition of creative, creating your own killer tunes rather then doin what the teacher says you gotta play is totally metal.
I just love the By Demons Be Driven solo (7:02), and his sound is so powerful, it sounds so lame on my rig compared to this (you can check my take on the solo in my channel).
"new record? so we gonna take our time right now to make them. it's probably two months but i guess they have to go to rehab and tight themselves up in" ROFLMAO
His solos are alright, but it's been a long time since he was able to play them on demand. He should stick to riffing live and have his hired guns do the lead. His riffs rule. Few are as bad ass as the main one for New World Order.
I know, just during the whole bit with G.S.T.K and Reinventing The Steel Philip Anselmo was an ass hole about who would sing the stuff and wouldn't allow dime to sing on some of the songs, and also wouldn't give recognition to the fact that he had some amazing licks. mind you this was during the time that philip was on heroine.
One thing I'd love to know is how Dime flicks the string and hits the harmonic so fast.. It's like he does both at the exact same time.. I can't figure that out =( If anyone knows, I'd love it if you could contact me with the answer somewhere. I do Dime squeals a lot and it always bothers me that I can't eliminate that little initial sound between my string flick and harmonic tap =C
@mrfreddiebrandt everyone says it's because of his unusual combination of playing(zz top+ slayer= dime) that's what all of guitar magazines say you know what I mean?
Why didn't he ever sing on any of the records, he's got a good voice. man phil was a freakin hog for the spotlight, at least in damageplan he got more respect.
im so sick of hearing people say that hes not the best an wateva, everyone has a different opinion but ppl keep comapring him to satch an john petrucci etc. Dime ses it himself he aint the scale god but he had something that a lot of guitarists dont have. Soul and he had fuckin lots of it
mmm ok whatever. if saying that somehow makes you feel better. dave is a great singer, songwriter/lyricyst, riff writer, and his solos dont sound dissonant.
His energy, man! I love it!
Dimebag and cliff burton were gods of metal, they didn't deserve that destiny R.I.P both of them, and thank you for these videos! they are awesome, i will watch them all now =P
dude I started at #1 and cant stop...so good to see him happy and just being dime.
He was the one that made me wanna play guitar, Kinda like a tribute for him! R.I.P Dimebag
Thanks so much for posting these videos man.
We wouldn't have otherwise been able to see Dime being himself, talking, playing, goofing etc.
it's all fun.
"i'm not a scale god or nothing" your right Dime, you ARE god, you never died, you just had to go back to heaven
Such a cool dude, and most amazing and glorious head of hair I've EVER seen!
real nice dude.. and a great vid
and a nice guitar got his signature!!
R.I.P. Dimebag
They were probably so freakin' excited they couldn't think of anything.
3:40 haha love it.
Dime is just 100% genuine and honest. He meant no bad words towards Dave, but he wasn't going to lie to his fans about why the tour was cut short.
rest in peace dime... dime was the best fucking guitarist i've ever seen
i liked the face he did when he joked book skills
'get you a harmonic' haha dime was a good ole boy
C'mon dude.. his solos got the right feeling!
For eg. things like "Becoming", "5 Minutes", I think that fit more that a typical guitar solo.He was original. Or like "Slaughtered" that hasn't got leads on it. For me it's like a perfect combination of leads and riffs. Though his riffs rule! you're more than right about that!
Cheers ^_^

LMAO i actually love dimebag..true guitar god in my mind., !
u crazy!? his singing kicks ass!!^^
I've said it to people before, but Dime doesn't just kick the ass on guitar, 'cause alot of guitarists rule, but he has feel, and you can't learn that. Dime is God.

like a buddy that we all lost .... I've lost buddies and miss them everyday ... I've never met Dime BUT it feels like we're buddies and We lost him...
I believe the world is less humble and caring now that Dime has left it...R.I.P our brother
Wish I could get a tab for something like 1:14. Such an excellent use of pentatonics.

That's because it's just something he cooked up for the hell of it. Like he said, he was inspired by some chick who suddenly invaded his home with a crankpipe and blabbered on for hours.

You can tell he's starting to get agitated with the lack of serios questions.
i love dimebag and his playing im i really want to be a metal guitarist that can live of playing music but im qite intrested how dimebag came so well none apart from his playing was it his technique or the unigue guitar he disinged any one got any ideas?? id apprciate it

They're all his own... Heresy, By Demons Be Driven and Basemouth...
@mokeymina look up caged in a rage by pantera. it was dime on lead vocals and guitar.
kindest and nicest alive?...dude, hes dead =( rest his sole
That's the solo bit from "By Demons Be Driven" (off of Vulgar Display of Power)
i would love it if vinnie paul released homevideos and basement tapes or riffs from Dimebag's eight track, all of pantera albums and the live album in a box set.
haha "look mom no hands"
The song he Is playing between 1:38 - 3:24 is "Base Mouth"
Thx dude!^^ "Basemouth" that's it! I wonder what he was screaming...basewhat..baseball?^^ Never heard this one, but it sounds cool...a little bit like Metallica's "Enter Sandman" you know...hm...I can't find any information abou this "basemouth". :(
Probably something he got used to saying a lot that time... i find it funny.
Dude his face at :43 is great.
Looks like some Pentatonic scales, then going to some crazy improvisation thing at 1:13
Chill, that was a misunderstanding from Zilir's Side.

i love the song base mouth it rocks
I'm pretty sure it's the standard Pentatonic scale.
nope, its strength determination merciless forever
dime is the best!
rips it at the pentatonics
I agree with you about all that. You see, the comment you replied to was about Dave Mustaine, not Dime...
My favorite part is how he made fun of Steve Vai
"new record? so we gonna take our time right now to make them. it's probably two months but i guess they have to go to rehab and tight themselves up in" ROFLMAO
anyone thinking about that the Base Mouth riff sounds like Among The Living by Anthrax?
@NoBox9 but it doesn't hurt from learning from the best either
Hahahaha you re right, man! How embarrasing hahaah xD
We shall never forget him!
His solos are alright, but it's been a long time since he was able to play them on demand. He should stick to riffing live and have his hired guns do the lead. His riffs rule. Few are as bad ass as the main one for New World Order.
I bet there are sound recordings of several songs that he did just for fun...but sadly those sound recordings will be never released. :(
DAMN HE THAT Em CHORD...
look mom no hands !!!!!!!!!!! hahaha!!!
God he had some chops
He said he would only join if Vinnie could join aswell, Dave had only just employed Nick so yeah he didnt join.
R.I.P
Dime forever !
in death he still puts it to shame... and most other guitarests at the same time lol.
