Watching you, Harley Designs, Hemistorm, and others gets me motivated to get outside my comfort zone to try new things. Never thought I could do brazing, but seeing that you can do it, I know I can. 🤪🤪🤪I learned a lot this year from you all and I'm hoping to up my game in 2023.
Good luck brazing, if you've never done it your in for some heavy cursing and lots of time and money down the drain, but stick with it, it's gonna take you a while til you figure it out, don't use cheap Walmart/Home Depot brazing solder, etc its no good, buy high-end quality materials. Matt's very talented and very humble always putting others before himself but don't be fooled he knows what he's doing and he's very good at...Best of luck
You can do it! It takes some practice and patience, and we're always here to give advice and tips. We've got a great community. Thanks for watching and Happy Holidays!
My first hobby grade car was a second hand Sand Scorcher with a hardbody F150 stepside, presumably a Blackfoot body. It must have been about 1987 or 88. It came with 2 sets of the sand paddle tires, a dually kit and a set of skis. This video brings back some fun memories. I still have the gear box and front suspension maybe it's time to consider bringing it back as a snow build for next year.
I remember an ad in the RCCA in the late 80's where you could buy front skiers and two mounts for double rear wheels to convert your Tamiya Grasshopper in a similar manner as you did with the slash.
Omg Matt!!! Awesome job. Loved this build all the way down to the running video superb. I’m watching your build first and have not watched Josh’s yet and guess what? You win lol.
I feel you won this one Matt. You build prove the point of a rail and plus you nailed the the ski's using those springs. I built one out a Tamiya stadium blitzer as a kid and turned it into an airboat for 9th grade shop. Merry Christmas Matt!
Great Builds guys! I used the Dubro pink colored plastic skis on my RC airplanes for winter flying off snow and ice, you can also use on grass also if You have enough HP up front. To control Shock position we used small car shocks like Old snowmobiles used.
Wow, that's a fresh idea. But it won't be easy to control. Still, the video was so much fun. Have a good end of the year and a happy new year. thank you👍👍👍
6:47 "I won't be using those obviously" 34:32 well look what's there 😆 While this isn't quite Turbos & Temples 3, a quite fun build. I thought about making my rustler more snow-capable but it's not that fun to drive in the cold so maybe I need to get into warm stuff like metalwork
Truly a cool build. ChillyWilly really stands out in the braised cage. I’ve thought about braising, now it inspires again! Great with the powder coating, matching the skis 🎿 I noticed the preloads on the front dampers: It may have been forgotten there from the dragster, but I believe it would become more lively and steer better with softer front suspension😉 Merry Christmas 🎄
I know it wasn’t a competition this time around but you beat the pants off of Josh. To me that’s incredible considering that most of your work was analog vs having all the heavy equipment Josh has at his disposal. It’s very inspiring to those of us that don’t have expensive band saws and fab tools at our fingertips. Great video and thank you. Merry Christmas to all!
I think Matt’s had access to better snow. Looked more controlled and faster. Great build Matt. Makes be consider doing some brazing myself. Merry Christmas!
Nice work! I really enjoyed your POV footage from the shop aspects! When I built my first rail that steering clearance issue was so frustrating, I didn't notice til after I powder coated! There are plans on the sms site now that detail to cut that side of the rail a little shorter. Can't wait to see what you got going on next year! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I remember wanting to buy a kit similar to this for my RC-10 back in the 80's.. If I recall, the kit also included some hardware to make the rear tires duallies.
Awesome build! And that running video... Sweet! :) I'd like some "real time" running, though. I think it helps understand how it runs. Again, great stuff! 😃🙏
Awesome work Matt!!!! i really dig your style of snow rail!!!! Merry Christmas! Enjoy time with famely and friends! Looking foward to more exciting projects from you in 2023!
Merry Christmas Matt, Love the build! I really enjoy watching the mayhem videos and seeing what all goes into them. The run footage is incredible (chefs kiss)
Merry Christmas! Nice work on the truck and on the video. It does make me want to give braising a shot, it would be my first time. This made it look doable. Cheers!
Great Job! It looks so good. Someone made a kit for Tamiya 2wd buggies that came with skis and dually rear wheels in the 1980s. I noticed you were mostly on hard pack. If you added another pair of paddle tires across the back, you might get more floatation in the deep stuff. Happy Holidays to SBG, friends, family, and even Josh.
Can you do some more brazing tutorials? I found one in the how-to playlist going to check it out now. Since I was a kid I was always fascinated and would of loved to learn how to braze scale roll cages and bumpers Thank you! New sub!
After watching both mayhem videos. Two different approaches. I do like that Harley built his front skis. But I think you were the clear winner overall of the challenge. Your classic design, scale realism and driving video was overall better
I picked your video to watch first based on the great title. That snow rail looks amazing. Looks like a nice setup for brazing, hope you share the details on that. I just got the Silhouette Cameo 4 based on your Cricut video on making vinyl masks. Looking forward to upping my painting skills for the new year. Happy Holidays 🎉
Happy Holidays to you too Matt. Thank you for this and for all you do for us. That is a wicked cool machine and looks great. I always forget I should watch Josh's video first and the fun one second.
Matt you are the gift that keeps on giving. 😂 Thank you for everything you do and for giving a lot of us the confidence to try new stuff. Really loved this one Happy Holidays

Aw shucks...that's a really nice thing of you to say.
@Scale Builder's Guild Absolutely " its the Truth Brother .....Happy New Year to come

The running footage made me laugh, pretty fun to see it get all side ways etc. Canadian winters rock.
I remember an ad in the RCCA in the late 80's where you could buy front skiers and two mounts for double rear wheels to convert your Tamiya Grasshopper in a similar manner as you did with the slash.
Those taillights are awesome. They make me think of those portable heaters with the large filaments that glow orange.
I feel that this should be broadcast prior to Kimmel!! Very informative, very well produced! Cool Scale Metal Supplies goodies too!!!
What a cool build! It would look so mean with duals in the back for extra flotation and to match the width of the skis.
Omg Matt!!! Awesome job. Loved this build all the way down to the running video superb. I’m watching your build first and have not watched Josh’s yet and guess what? You win lol.
WOW those tail lights are great. will look amazing with snow flying up around it
i love the paint. the color flows great together with those panels
Thank you
Love the snow man's head. Nice Skido type machine colors great to.
I feel you won this one Matt. You build prove the point of a rail and plus you nailed the the ski's using those springs. I built one out a Tamiya stadium blitzer as a kid and turned it into an airboat for 9th grade shop. Merry Christmas Matt!

Thanks for watching! Cool idea. Happy Holidays!
Proof that you dont need expensive equipment to build a quality product! Great work, you always inspire me to push my limits 👍
Thanks!
Wow, that's a fresh idea. But it won't be easy to control. Still, the video was so much fun. Have a good end of the year and a happy new year. thank you👍👍👍
Happy new year! It's not that easy to control, but it was fun to build.
6:47 "I won't be using those obviously"
34:32 well look what's there 😆

Awesome Matt! Its incredible what you accomplished with some basic tools and imagination! Looking forward to seeing what you build in the new year.
Thanks a ton!
Merrrrry Mayhem! Happy holidays to you and yours, Matt! 🎄🎅🏻👍🏼
Merry Christmas friend!
Truly a cool build. ChillyWilly really stands out in the braised cage. I’ve thought about braising, now it inspires again!
Great with the powder coating, matching the skis 🎿
I noticed the preloads on the front dampers: It may have been forgotten there from the dragster, but I believe it would become more lively and steer better with softer front suspension😉
Merry Christmas 🎄
Go for it! Merry Christmas!
Outstanding Miami Vice blue powder coating on buggy frame and buggy look Great! Thanks I wish you and your family a Happy Holidays
Same to you!
I bet you could model a front knuckle that incorporates the ski mounts and make that whole situation better.
Chili Wily was a cartoon penguin at the drive ins back in the day.
SO COOL! LITERALLY. works quite well too love the paint scheme

I'm not allowed to have band saws so I don't cut off my fingertips 😂. Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas!
@@scalebuildersguild 🤣🤣🤣
Chilly Willy rips 😮 must say you and Josh are the two peas in a pod. Fantastic little treat you put out for us on Christmas. Well enjoyed!
Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas !!! Thanks for all the video's and build tips bundled in with them. Could you throw up a link to one of those benders please ?
BAC Industries JR-02 Jumbo Rod Bender!
@@scalebuildersguild, Thank you, going to pick one up soon and learn to do suspension links.
Cool snow rig nice going with those headlights. Tail lights probably would look better above the bumper but still rocked it. 👍
Wow I think you're both winters , I mean winners🏁🏁🏁👍⛄🎄❄️. They look sweet. Can't you believe Josh even put a doll in his.lol
😂
That was cool... I really like that blue and the paint scheme on the lean panels.. nice job matt... 👍🏻
Thanks!
Super cool build, looks like in a 1/1 you would have to have a windshield. Willy definitely looked chilly with a lap full of snow.
It looks so good!
Thanks very much! Happy Holidays!
Merry Christmas!! Turned out fantastic! Now I want Jack In The Box though for some reason.
I hear they have a Festive Special meal. Treat yourself!
Well you have lots of snow now after the storm. Hope you are well and dug out. Happy ho ho to you and yours . All the best in the new year.
We didn't get too much snow in Toronto! Thanks for watching and Happy Holidays!
Dude that thing is completely ready for production. Patent it! Awesome 👏 l want one
I normally don’t care about driver figures, but in this case the driver figure really makes the vehicle 😅 Well done!
We want Chilly Willy! Congrats on a great build, excellent fabrication skills, awesome!
Thank you!
That's crazy. It looks so good and can't belive how good you guys are with 3d printing
Thank you! It takes a lot of practice.
Fantastic!!! That looks like so much fun! Can’t wait to hear you guys discuss your builds on the next live stream.
I think Matt’s had access to better snow. Looked more controlled and faster. Great build Matt. Makes be consider doing some brazing myself. Merry Christmas!
Try brazing and Merry Christmas!
Nice work! I really enjoyed your POV footage from the shop aspects! When I built my first rail that steering clearance issue was so frustrating, I didn't notice til after I powder coated! That's so annoying when that happens! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!
Even though I don’t like snow but that is one of my favorites RC sleds two 👍👍
Matt i just watched Josh's video he is quite good at that fab stuff for sure. Cant wait to see what you do.
I love this design... You knocked it out of the park for sure Matt! Merry Christmas
Thanks, you too!
I did this back in the late “80’s”with my Grasshopper! I fabricated tire chains because I didn’t have paddle tires.
Cool!
Love the classic buggy look.
I remember wanting to buy a kit similar to this for my RC-10 back in the 80's.. If I recall, the kit also included some hardware to make the rear tires duallies.
So cool! Thanks for watching!
Both of you hit it out of the park
I though that was playboy blue! One of my custom painted bikes I chose playboy blue and it's still one of my favorite colors!
Love this rig, I believe this is the first time Matt's rig looks to out perform Josh, hell yea matt
Sweet build, Matt!! Love watching you fab away.
What a great build. Really enjoyed that.
Awesome build!
And that running video... Sweet! :)
I'd like some "real time" running, though. I think it helps understand how it runs.
Again, great stuff! 😃🙏
Literally amazing glad you all did this. Inspires me! Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas! Thanks for watching!
Chilly Willy going all Willy Nilly! Awesome build. Thanks for the Christmas video! Hope you have a very merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas! Thanks for watching!
Nice job Matt. Looks like your skis worked much better than Josh's. Looked controllable
Great job, if you need more snow come up to Bracebridge. We got about five feet of snow over Christmas.
I heard you guys got a lot of snow up there! We hardly got any here during that storm.
Awesome build.Probably my favorite.Chilly Willy can drive like a bay out out hell.Merry Christmas to you and your family
Merry Christmas! Thanks for watching!

Amazing, I love watching you scratch build stuff/things :)
Glad you enjoy it!
I never thought I'd see a hacksaw, a bench vise and Birkingstock clogs in the same video frame. Merry Christmas bud.
They're very comfortable and warm while standing in my cold workshop all day!
Nicely done running video, Josh has a cute driver though hehehe
Happy Holidays!
😂 Thanks for watching!

Go for it!
That’s so rad man!! Killer work and makes me want to turn one of my slashes into a sand rail!!
Thanks!
Great work Matt. Love this monthly mayhem challenge. I think you might have started a new thing.. snow drag or snow drifting.
After watching both mayhem videos. Two different approaches. I do like that Harley built his front skis. But I think you were the clear winner overall of the challenge. Your classic design, scale realism and driving video was overall better
Thank you!

Thanks so much!
That intro is gold lol. Great stuff
Merry Christmas and the video was awesome! The music overlay you used while running Chilly Willy was absolutely perfect! Be safe!
Merry Christmas! Thanks for watching!
Hopefully Xmas has made some wonderful memories for you and your family. This is a lovely little video and really cool idea
Thank you! You too!
if you were building actual sand rails, you could use some of those front sand rail tires from that RC4WD mystery box
😂 I got rid of them
You sleighed it Matt, great job!
😂
Fun watch! Thank you. Happy holidays!
Same to you!
And you didn’t just show up with tank tracks installed?!.. Lol. Awesome Mayhem Matt, Merry Christmas!🎄🎁 🍻
Merry Christmas to you as well!
Happy Holidays to you too Matt. Thank you for this and for all you do for us. That is a wicked cool machine and looks great. I always forget I should watch Josh's video first and the fun one second.
Thanks for watching and Happy Holidays!
Matt you are the gift that keeps on giving. 😂 Thank you for everything you do and for giving a lot of us the confidence to try new stuff. Really loved this one Happy Holidays

Very Nice, Glad to see the Year of no Lexan is still going well😆....And have a Merry Christmas.
😂
Nicely done!! Looks great 👍🏻
Amazing build!!!! That's going to be hard to beat!!!
Love your build more than...
You killed it for function.
Great job.
Sorry Harley Designs.
Great build Matt ...I see you used tube instead of the rod sent by SMS looked to be a bit easer method to use and easy to braze...
Cool build! Received stickers on Xmas eve, chuffed thanks! Link for the Amazon light strip please.
