Love your enthusiasm and obvious pride in this vehicle, you clearly had a good time with this and it was fun to watch! I really appreciate the work you put into this - you took a scale model approach with an RC body and it turned out great! 👍
Ive owned several of these trucks in various conditions over the years and I gotta say you nailed it, awesome job with the weathering. I especially like that you have some of the chrome trim pieces bent outward from the body, ( my real ones were like that as well ) very realistic and the rust looks spot on. Now if I only had one tenth of the skills that you and Richard have I would be happy.
One nice detail would be to partially fill one of the blinker lenses with fluid or something that looks like fluid. You can buy blinker fluid at auto parts stores if you need to change the fluid in your 1 scale car.
As a chevy square body truck owner, damn you nailed it, that thing looks like my old beater farm truck. The cab rear corners also rot out fyi, almost no truck is rust free there unless someone babied it.
Dude you're an artist and the RC is your canvas. Great work! I just did K5 Blazer on my Trail King converted WB to 11.4 looks pretty sweet. Kept the suspension more modern with Cantilever.I went the route if I had money and wanted to restore an old square truck to be my off road rig..
Pro tip, you can safely strip chrome off of plastic with a degreaser cleaner called "purple power" or "super clean". You can also use it to remove paint without harming the plastic and you can do it indoors. Just soak it for 30 minutes to a few hours (depends on the proceas they used to chrome it or the paint that was used) I used to do this all the time with my scale models that had everything chromed that shouldn't have been or to repaint when I changed my mind on color (read that as when I screwed up a paint job 😉) love your truck and your channel man!
In regard to the tires, even the new look may have been accurate; as an 'old truck' owner I've put $800 worth of new mud tires on a $400 truck. It's all good. The truck and tires look fantastic, great job.
Awesome, this truck brings back a lot of memories. You freaking nail it. Would love to be able to do this . Thanks again for sharing your videos. I did my first truck 78 Chevy stepside . I made it look like a new truck. Someday I will try to do a weather truck.
This thing looks amazing. Ive been in the rc hobby for years now. Im finding the older I get I want to start building more realistic rigs. Building my first hardbody now. Building a hilux pinched front and rear fenders trimmed very little for clearance. Trying to decide on wether to use a trail kings chassis or my Vs410 ultra chassis.
All that paint work to make something look old, abused and neglected. It would drive me batty, but it looks incredible. What did you use for the trim pieces? Please do an airbrush setup video showing everything you use including any ventilation.
I’m definitely going to have to check out Vallejo’s weathering tutorials because I have a couple trucks in mind for some weathering. I have a “tribute” in mind for my Ranger, and it would need a lot of weathering since the truck was rusty beyond belief thanks to the salty Michigan roads.
Hey Matt, rewatching this video again and wondering where you got the “chrome” trim for the body lines? Something you fabbed or someone makes it? Thanks!
The trucks look awesome... Great job... At the moment I am trying to improve my weathering technique on scale accessories... It's not so expensive when it doesn't work... Stay well and safe
Nicely done so far. Looking forward to seeing the end product. MOD19 bumpers are an excellent representation of the steel square body bumpers. The rc4wd units look awkward with the chrome rubber molding section.
The bed and body mismatch is a nice touch but I have to say more often than not the tail gate does not match the bed. But I think your truck looks great, the deep gouge above the rear Fender looks extremely realistic
You're too modest you're awesome at this stuff man that looks so real the rust holes n stuff great work homie for real you gotta give yourself more credit dude
Looks really cool! How well do those short coil overs work? Would like to do something like that on my Honcho, either with a new body and a drop bed or an Aussie style overland tray.
Hey Matt - Sorry to necro, but for the SSD 3d printed transmission spacer, does it move the actual electric motor forward, or just the fake plastic motor shroud forward? I'm guessing the latter since a 3d printed part wouldn't last long with all that torque?
EPIC EPIC work. The only thing I would look into would be a different rear bumper it looks like a front bumper put on the rear. Maybe even make a home made one out of pipe.
*YOU NAILED IT!!!* 👍👍🍻🍺👌 The Rust is incredible, the mismatched panels, replaced Bed... The broken trim with glue residue was over the top!! You didn't RUIN it! 😲 All of the Wheel Arches are intact... (Of course maybe he doesn't live in the Salt Belt). 😉 Fantastic work Matt!!! 👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 I just asked a question in your last year's Video, that I would sincerely appreciate if you can take a look. Please stay SAFE! 😷 Carmine ✈🚂🚙
Looks awesome, I have had many of these trucks and you have really nailed so much of the loo and detail. I thing though, k10 six lugs, k20 or k30 eight lugs
I’m actually looking to build something really scale and was looking at Enduro or Trail king for my build. I wanted to do the RC4wd blazer it’s much shorter. So with same mounts you have on I would just need to shorten rear links on TK? Also what rear suspension did you use? Looks like it was from touring car.
That looks so cool! Will you be weathering the underside of the vehicle? Those shiny control and steering arms now seem out of place with the rest of it.. do people even weather the underside of rigs?
Dude absolutely love this build I'm doing something similar with one of my Element Enduro Trail walkers. I may end up doing two like this. A Chevy n a Ford but instead of the Chevy truck it'll be a Chevy Blazer the Ford is a 1977 Ford F250 high boy I put Interco Super Swamper boggers on the blazer and the f250 has interco Super swamper TSL radials
Love it! Incredible job Matt. Reminds me of an old (1:1) Sq Body short box I usta have. Mine was much more of a pos then yours tho. Coilovers? Did Josh finally drag you outta the dark ages? Kick'n n Scream'n all the way no doubt.
You can do rust bubbling by using superglue and baking soda, then layering with random washes in between applying the glue / baking soda ( Such that the wash is actually IN the matrix of glue / baking soda ) I do it by stippling the super glue on first, with random messed up brushes, split toothpicks, etc, then sprinkling the B. soda on it, then apply wash, then repeat until the desired thickness of bubbling is achieved ) Usually I'll build the rust bubbling / wash up first, then also do some separate bubbling in the same area, but painted over to match the body paint, so it looks like it is bubbling up from under the paint as it does in real life. ( A little light wash on those spots makes it look like the rust is starting to bleed out from under the paint ) You can also use Elmer's glue as a mask that is easy to remove and capable of masking far more accurately than tapes
Trim off almost half the material from the back of the grill till the thin film comes off revealing the squares hole thus making look more realistic. Just put something dark behind it to apear as a radiator unless u putting one in. Check my running video but slow it down to see close. Looking great though.
I know it's been 3 years but.... the intake and valve covers would be aluminum and wouldn't rust, but oil leaks and grime would be very appropriate. Otherwise I think you nailed the look of the typical farm truck.
Properly ruined! Love the direction you went with this.
Besides how sweet this build is, I really love and appreciate your creativity and humor on this truck...it adds SO much to it. Nice work Matt
Love your enthusiasm and obvious pride in this vehicle, you clearly had a good time with this and it was fun to watch! I really appreciate the work you put into this - you took a scale model approach with an RC body and it turned out great! 👍
Thanks a ton!

really great effects... the hints of rust, the glue residue under the chrome trim... wonderful, wonderful subtle details. Very cool!!
One nice detail would be to partially fill one of the blinker lenses with fluid or something that looks like fluid. You can buy blinker fluid at auto parts stores if you need to change the fluid in your 1 scale car.
Great build.
I too enjoy weathering and super detailing. I like something that looks like something i would drive.
I have been working on my sad trail king and love the way yours has turned out
As a chevy square body truck owner, damn you nailed it, that thing looks like my old beater farm truck. The cab rear corners also rot out fyi, almost no truck is rust free there unless someone babied it.
Looks great. It was funny how shiny the engine bay was.
So real it hurts. Fantastic job. I bet it even has a life threatening wobble at 80kph.
Great job!! Not surprised at all how well this build looks!
Yes I am watching all your old videos for some reason.
Maybe some faded white letters on the tires? Or on some of them.
Looks awesome so far, well done!

Great point!
She turned out real nice matt 👍👍
Looks Awesome all the little details make a big difference another very nice build
Awesome, this truck brings back a lot of memories. You freaking nail it. Would love to be able to do this . Thanks again for sharing your videos. I did my first truck 78 Chevy stepside . I made it look like a new truck. Someday I will try to do a weather truck.
When you showed the duct taped tail like it made me think you should put a turn signal / brake light that just flashes all the time
This thing looks amazing.
Sounds like a fun build. I would go with the VS4-10 for sure. Thanks for watching and good luck with the build!
i would like to see how to do lexan wethering paint job as i have a 67 chevy unpainted.
The truck looks AWESOME Matt~!
This is spectacular! I hope to have a truck close to this level of detail one day. I learn so much from your videos. Thanks.
Phenomenal so far matt, and the weaing down of the tires is beyond spot on seeing these in fields all the time with no tread!!
All that paint work to make something look old, abused and neglected. It would drive me batty, but it looks incredible. What did you use for the trim pieces?
Please do an airbrush setup video showing everything you use including any ventilation.
Super detailed video... Scratches, and trim are my favorite.. a small crack in the windshield would be sweet ..
Please do!
You should drill some tiny holes where the trim pieces are missing, and maybe rust around the holes!
Man you really inspire me to strive for this level of model building..Looks amazing!!! Please keep posting more videos like this.
Hey Matt, rewatching this video again and wondering where you got the “chrome” trim for the body lines? Something you fabbed or someone makes it? Thanks!
Styrene strips painted chrome.
Awesome job on the painting. I have a difficult time painting two different colors on lexan.
Nice work Carlos Menendez! Looks good !
looks Great you made it really look like the real thing.
Nice job weathering it Matt. You should’ve put a different tire on one of the rims to look like a makeshift replacement along the way. Great work!
I can’t wait to get my weathering paints! As I plan on rusting each new scratch as I run the trails, how often do yo take this one on the trails
It gets driven regularly by it's new owner!
You cvan make cool rust effects with vallejo rust pigment and glue or paint. Matte clearcoat also works
Well done Matt.
Outstanding ! I think some old school aluminum slots or deep dish wagon wheels would be more period correct
Any sealing coat(s) after the Vallejo, Bondo, etc... is all complete, and ready for the trail? Also, VERY well done!
The bed and body mismatch is a nice touch but I have to say more often than not the tail gate does not match the bed. But I think your truck looks great, the deep gouge above the rear Fender looks extremely realistic
You should chop the front tire tread to really send the old beat up mud truck look. Just look up chopped mud tires
You're too modest you're awesome at this stuff man that looks so real the rust holes n stuff great work homie for real you gotta give yourself more credit dude
Matt has mad skills. Looks sweet so far
Looks really cool! How well do those short coil overs work? Would like to do something like that on my Honcho, either with a new body and a drop bed or an Aussie style
overland tray.
Nice job on that body!
Love it so far especially the rear and tailgate..looking forward to seeing the finished rig.
Never thought about having a weathered truck look but that is pretty cool
I just got a new blazer body. I e always wanted one now should I rust it or keep it pretty??????? Decisions ......decisions ????
Hey Matt - Sorry to necro, but for the SSD 3d printed transmission spacer, does it move the actual electric motor forward, or just the fake plastic motor shroud forward? I'm guessing the latter since a 3d printed part wouldn't last long with all that torque?

You have so much patience, such an awesome looking rig.
Thanks 👍
Are you going to add ripped up seats?
Dude that is some ridiculous talent! Square body love! Noice!
Best weathering I’ve seen man hands down 🙌🏽
Put extra wear on the right rear tire, thats the one that spins on the infamous "one wheel wonder"... awesome truck man. 👍
Already done.
The old chevy looks so real, your work is incredible matt and thanks for sharing. What air brush do u use ??
I use the Paasche Talon.
Great job on the details!! 👍
Stunning example. Very Sweet Work.
Thank you! Cheers!
That looks just like all the river buggies I see around Texas Panhandle for sure. Great job
Did you ruen the Mears in a good way to.
Looks great man!! Best C10 ever, 1:1 included!
Glad you think so!
You sir, have some skills. Looks great.
I have one tip. There is typically a stain under the door mirrors from sitting never washed ✌🏼
Great looking truck.
Thanks 👍
Love it man! I'm pretty sure I've seen that truck driving around town a few times.
Wow! you are talented!!!
Looks awesome, I have had many of these trucks and you have really nailed so much of the loo and detail. I thing though, k10 six lugs, k20 or k30 eight lugs
This truck looks almost exactly like my first truck when I was in high school! The memories haha!
Yes, you'll need shorter links. I used short shocks from a Traxxas car.
Oh Matt, that is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen ...
Thanks!
That looks so cool! Will you be weathering the underside of the vehicle? Those shiny control and steering arms now seem out of place with the rest of it.. do people even weather the underside of rigs?
That's the plan!

Plans for the rear glass?
Cardboard!
that's a awesome scale build
Care to give insight on what 3D printer your using and software you use ?
Nicely done!!
Awesome truck ! Good ol junkyard dog ! 😍
You can run your print head back over the end of your print at the end I think it's hot beding look it up I have used it on my ender 3pro
For what piece are you talking about. Cura has it, it’s called ironing.
@@scalebuildersguild any ware you want a better finish it will smooth every thing out ! I do it and it saves me time and I don't need to sand as much!

Guess you shld at least leave em on there till the paint dries.
You can do rust bubbling by using superglue and baking soda, then layering with random washes in between applying the glue / baking soda ( Such that the wash is actually IN the matrix of glue / baking soda ) I do it by stippling the super glue on first, with random messed up brushes, split toothpicks, etc, then sprinkling the B. soda on it, then apply wash, then repeat until the desired thickness of bubbling is achieved )

@@scalebuildersguild Thanks for the vids !
Mix match tires sometimes tires in the back or bigger than the tires up front
Try change up with other tire brands but try to keep them all similer and wear?
That is amazing I really want to try to do something like this.
What shock towers do you have modded on there? Looks like they may be from the Capra or similar.
That's what I want to do with mine.
SSD aluminum upgrades. No towers in the rear.
@@scalebuildersguild TY, Found them online. Now to find them available somewhere. lol
What are you going to use for the back window?
The window that’s included?
@@scalebuildersguild hmmmm I didnt realize the blazer body had a back window for the pickup conversion. if it does sweet!
Dang, that looks awesome.
Trim off almost half the material from the back of the grill till the thin film comes off revealing the squares hole thus making look more realistic. Just put something dark behind it to apear as a radiator unless u putting one in. Check my running video but slow it down to see close. Looking great though.
Who said I was finished? 😉
Then fire away my friend. 👍
Watching. Looking great, I mean that in a bad way.
That thing is just amazing
Very cool truck!
Can you do a tutorial on weathering on different parts of the vehicles?
I know it's been 3 years but.... the intake and valve covers would be aluminum and wouldn't rust, but oil leaks and grime would be very appropriate. Otherwise I think you nailed the look of the typical farm truck.
i absolutely love it!!!!!! what are your plans for this truck?
Watch more of the videos and you'll see what I did! Thanks for watching!
I absolutely love this build I believe it's my favorite of yours by far .Yes I do love square bodys that may of helped some lol
Thank you so much 🤗
Damn, you are a straight up artist bro.
Thanks very much!
