Die Landeanfluggeschwindigkeit ist gering und der Gleitwinkel kann mit der weit ausfahrbaren Klappe gesteuert werden. Das ermöglicht stressfreie Anflüge und Landungen auf üblichen Hängegleiterlandeplätzen sowie kleinsten Aussenlandefeldern. Der Archaeopteryx ist ein vielseitiger high-end Hängegleiter in Segelflugzeugkonfiguration mit aussergewöhnlicher Steigfähigkeit. Konzipiert ist er für den Fussstart von Berghängen sowie für eine Vielzahl weiterer Startarten wie Gummiseilstart vom Berg oder Auto-, Winden-, Flugzeug-, und UL-Schleppstarts von Flugplätzen.

The front "wheel" is really a flat skid so it's easier to stay upright, also the wing provides lift with hardly any wing so you can see how the pilot continually feeds aileron input to level the wings even on the ground.
The beauty and elegance of this craft is captivating.
This type of peaceful flying is good for the soul! Just magnificent, while the design of that wing is nothing less than brilliant,

Looks absolutely beautiful when landing. The scenery of course helps as does the music.
Some one needs to take up this engineering and produce these in larger numbers.. The cost to buy one of these is just to high.. A cost of around 10,000 -15,000 dollars should be the target.. The current price of 100,000 dollars per glider is much much too high !!

grabir01 i would say that the cost must be about 6-7k dollars and not more, for 10-15k you could study and even practice for a PPL and fly on a mono-motor plane
It's closer to 68,000 USD. This is not an item that will ever be produced in large numbers. Why? Do you really think the general public will want to buy one of these when they could buy 2 cars for the price? I'm sure the public will NOT take and PAY for flight school, licencing and even higher insurance than for a car.
An average IQ person can't pass the flying test. So this isn't for masses. You rather go kayaking. Lol
if the swissies could work out production and pricing to 50K - we would all buy one / we would all sell our grandmothers
I'd pay around 15-20k ... but 100k is definitely way to much.

100k i can buy a nice used super cub and fly all over us.
100k would get you a far better glider that would get you much further than this ever could, but, I’d still want to fly one

Possibly, but remember how they take-off, they just lift up their legs through the opening in bottom, so I'm pretty sure they just set their feet on the ground when they stop.

You could glide for ages really the longest is actually 50+ hours but it stopped getting recognised because it become danger (People fell asleep and crashed).
Hmm, for over $100,000 for the base model, I can buy a good, used Cessna 172, and still have enough left over for fuel and hangar space for two years!

That archaeopteryx can't cost 100,000$ because my house with 9 rooms costed about 28,000$. This archaeopteryx can be expensive just because of wings and that's it.
You've obviously never owned a plane before. The upkeep on even a Cessna is several thousands a year, and even more for required major overhauls. Then factor in fuel.
ah, I think I get what you mean, but I'm not skilled enough to judge any windspeed and direction. No idea if the pilot is skilled enough to compensate for the effect or judge whether the effect is occurring or not. But he definately found a way to glide it :).

Beautiful looking glider. Apart from the God ugly Tail fin and rudder! A swepted back fin/rudder has aerodynamic advantages as well!

Nice landings..but now how do you get back home? Also is there a height and weight limit for pilots to be able to fly one...and how much does one of these cost???
My guess is yes, but depends on your country. In the U.S. as long as it is less than 254lbs.
Is it possible to maybe add a little lawn mower engine to it with a propeller on the back to have power occasionally to extend flight time? Maybe bicycle powered?
Also how much flight time did you guys get on average from this location?
Why aren't there air brakers(spoilers) on the wings? It is harder to make landing plan in this type.

Guys , if you think this is expensive don't be so stupid! You can make this at home for about 2 months or if you are faster you can make it for less time. These wings can be just a little bit expensive , but who cares you can also make this from scrap , of course you need to find parts :)

It is really pretty enjoyable and fantastic toy but not ergonomic. Expensive, hard to transport and requires a runway or a large area for landing. Paragliding offers almost same flight with more advantages about all that points. But still I wanna fly once with it.

Yes, you can go quite far to different places just as you would with a car. Only you're flying and not driving on the ground.

Problems with these are you need to be up somewhere high to get them off the ground and there arent that alot of places that has huge mountains that you just can walk up to and your little airplane and glide around. So these are not such a good purchase, would rather buy a helicopter

For what it is.....though a great design and though it's understandable (due to limited handbuilt production), nonetheless: 70 to 100k is seriously pushing the egregious range. Not even counting insurance. Then there's the question of cost coverage/reimbursement thru partial share or lease agreement with a school or club, which for a lot of us is not optional....it's a crucial part of keeping costs manageable....and yet, a lot of schools/clubs are decidedly and understandably wary about renting out experimental or ultralight designs for a whole array of reasons. Needs several years to mature and for costs and insurance related factors to stabilize.
