Never thought how SC 1 briefings are actually more atmospheric and stylish than the SC 2 ones. My memory stored superb SC 2 cinematics, but this 6:41 is very bland in comparison to this 0:32.
People always underestimate the art quality of the classics. Very nice video. I hope it's an eye opener for new generations. The look and feel of SC1 is just so dark. Now everything is Disney/Fortnite/Marvel level.

"speak" during the brief, which is something I haven't seen for a very long time. I do believe Stormgate currently lacks persona which I hope they fix some way or another.
In SC1 and WC2 and Diablo 1 they went quite cheesy at the times but Blizzard managed to not overdue it deposite it being basically in line and anything being in just slightly more exaggerated tone would be too much. When it comes to audio design - despite Blizzard is really good at it to this very day - they didn't managed to outdo the classics. WC2 briefings... Damn, I didn't even spoke English back then and I still loved them, so much emotions and spirit was transferred even if overall it was just pretty generic fantasy in there. Great delivery makes quite the difference. WarHammer 40k: Dawn of War: Winter Assault also had it nailed, just barely under the line of being too ridiculous but instead giving such deliveries that were convincing represention of some unknown world.
Snoregate, every part of it so exceptionally mid, there's nothing to stand out, it has no identity on its own. You can't look at it and don't immediately come to the conclusion that its some kind of mashup between SC and WC3. And the fights look even worse than the Blob vs Blob we had during WoL
Stormgate model is really rough, I try to be open-minded but man, this game right now is really mid. Even if you compare it to other RTS that come out around the same time like Tempest Rising, the art is just... eh... this game art does not look pretty for me. I might still play it when the full game comes out but I really hope it will get better than this.
Tbh, the only hope Stormgate has is to become a port of sc2, as modders will just port sc2 melee into stormgate. I don't personally see any other reason to play this over sc2.
I know it's thrown around a lot - but christ, that one from Stormgate is actually mobile-game-tier of soulless. Then again, almost none compare to SC1's - not even my next favorites, AoE 2 (the original VAs and artwork had a ton of passion) and WC2. It's actually criminal as well seeing how far downgraded the SC1->SC2 went. actually I think that's it: SC2's are a bland, boring version of SC1's, and Stormgate's are a blander, boringer version of SC2's (already itself a bland, boring version).
Yeah... then again, it has that fortnite level of graphics. But, that would be doing fortnite a disservice. At least fortnite has decent animations in trailers, especially with face.

To be fair sc2 had like the hyperion that kind of took the place of briefing- talking to all the cremated and such.
I mean, I consider the part after you click play to be the actual intro, with the info-card being the explanation as to why you're going there.
I'm all for the dev's who made the golden age of RTS getting together to make an RTS but this is so forced and uninspired
People will say "it's early access give them a break." Stop it. They released a bad product, complain so they can MAKE IT BETTER.

The game is free and I still want a refund. There are open source projects with better production values.
