I would like to see a video concerning what U.S. service the two of you use for 2FA and the financial implications of that service. Thank you for all of the good info.!
We made a trip to Mexico and I upgraded my Visible plan to international where I could use the phone text or use the apps without WiFi (if we needed a ride or something). The plan is super cheap, it connected to the local towers just fine.
Yeah, I just got that eSIM still a chicken about extra charges but it’s good to have your back up on how it works. My question is is it difficult for you to enable your US data so that you don’t get charged for anything?
Rob and Allie - the hubster and I are becoming your biggest fans! We do have a question on this topic. Do you have a US based cell phone plan that you maintain while you’re traveling?
Thanks! Yes, you need an unlocked phone that takes esims with a US sim in it, and then we use Airalo to buy an esim wherever we are. The US sim you need so you can switch to it for bank verification if you are making large purchases like flights while overseas. The US sim is always switched off unless you need it to verify something.
Thank you so much for this info. You mentioned you use Air all on cruise. If is means at sea as well? We will be sailing Canada/New England cruise in Oct.. Thank you so much...p.S., we now have Verizon sevice.
Thank you for the great video. We will be travelling to Australia for 3 weeks and I am considering getting an e-sim for my iPhone 13. From what I understand, I will not be able to make local calls (I need to confirm hotels, car rentals, etc.). Can I have both an e-sim and a local SIM card on the same phone, or should I get a second unlocked cell phone for the local SIM?
Hi guys, thanx for this video. I quit my job end of year ( in germany ) and will travel within the US. Amtrak rides included. What’s in your opinion the best sim card for maybe 60 days? Thank you
You're a treasure trove of great info, and we appreciate the work you put into your videos to provide valuable content❣
We appreciate that!

Great information- thank you. In several other videos, you have mentioned getting texts (while in foreign countries) from WhatsApp?
Yes, that is how we do it

Do you maintain a U.S. phone plan to have your US number or do you buy US sim cards and pay as you go?

I think it would work, but I've never been to Australia
Am I correct in assuming that AirAlo is good only for text/data and not calling?
It depends on the package you get, some have calling.
OK, thanks. We love all your channels!!!@@GroundedLifeRetirementTravel

Thanks, being from there we've never bought a short term sim card. The Airalo app seems like a pretty good deal even in the US.
I have Google Fi full time in the US but haven't traveled much with it. What restrictions does it have?
Do you set your 2 factor authentication to an email address (as opposed to text) and check that when you have wifi?
What do you do when your laptop needs access to the Internet?
Everywhere we stay has Wifi so we just connect to the hotel or apartment internet
Thank you for this info.
Glad it was helpful!
