Great choice. It's fun watching someone go through the experience of a watch purchase. I am lucky enough to own a Speedmaster - Speedy Tuesday 'Ultraman' which has an orange second hand and faux patina lume on the indices. It pops that tiny bit of colour which is really cool too. You never tire of a Speedy.
The Moonwatch is my grail and I own it. There will never be anything which comes close. Gavin, same for me: everything with a story is what makes me gravitate towards it. Congratulations to this beautiful watch. 👍🏻😎🚀
Congratulations that’s my grail watch. I know I’m going to get it in about a year or 2 . It’s amazing to see people as excited as me every time I go into an omega store.
Congrats Sir sorry I did not introduce myself at decembers gather all. I have the heaalite and I love it you won’t regret it. The staff at KOP are great congrats again
Fantastic choice, I wear my 3861 Hesalite nearly every day since I bought in January of 2021 (I was the first person in my region to get one). Although today I'm actually wearing a Seamaster Planet Ocean (on black NATO) - the original in 42mm (Bond watch, was it Quantum?) The new Speedmaster bracelet is extremely comfortable and even though the Speedmaster is a chronograph, the new dimensions (thinner, slightly shorter lug to lug) make it wear extremely well and comfortable on the wrist. Crackin' first Omega, congrats! PS- I'm a terrible golfer, but I do have a hole in one, but it was with a Slazenger....
This is how I want to get my first Omega. Have David go with me. He might be in his mid 70's by the time I could afford it, but it would be a good excuse to get out of the house.
Absolutely correct about the 3861 bracelet. Am tempted by the good looks for speedmaster professional on leather/rubber straps but each Time I try to switch I can't get over how crazy comfortable the bracelet is! So on the bracelet it stays 🎉😊
Ya know when you look at the clear dark sky in the woods where you can see all the stars and galaxies? Makes you feel rather insignificant. That’s the way you feel when you go to King of Prussia Mall. It’s a monster.
I don't know what it is about these but the indices markers and small bracelet links don't seem like they "line up" to me.. the way the hour markers are sunk between two planes make it look misaligned to me at certain angles.. the same with the small polished links.. they look offset to me... am i imagining this or is like optical allusion? contrast this with a dial that has a metal plane and applied markers with 3 link bracelet.. there's nowhere that lines don't "match up"... I want to love this but I need help with my ocd!
@@charliespencer2448 Yep, looks like the sapphire to me also. The sapphire has an applied logo, vs. printed on the hesaliite. Additionally, the bracelet on the sapphire has those thin vertical lines polished where it's fully brushed on the hesalite.
Congratulations to Gavin on his purchase of his first Omega, you can't go wrong with the speedmaster moonwatch, but I'm disappointed since Gavin mentioned that he was interested in the 57 speedmaster in a green dial (the Penfold color) and we didn't see him try it on. Gorgeous watch, not too big at 40.5mm, has color in the dial which Gavin said he prefers, and though not a moonwatch still has speedmaster DNA. Did the boutique not have this model in stock? Would have loved to see it on his wrist - I think it would have suited him (though as I said, nothing wrong with the moonwatch).
@@penfoldgolf1927 The 57 looks amazing, especially in green... but I read it wears quite larger than the moonwatch, so given your wrists, you made the right choice.
I'd be very interested in your take on Bond deodorants and smelly stuff. Is it cheap to smell like James Bond - can I do it? Anyway, my story (set in 1943): [Scene 4] Emerging into the daylight after the stuffy and rather choking cavern underneath the streets of London, felt like being reborn. Even the vomitous smell of charred remains didn't seem half as repugnant. Bond elects to cut through the park on his way to an air-strip rendezvous. The park seems bright and almost pleasant on this November day, as the fumes from endless fires hadn't quite penetrated this far. Streams of charred and forlorn faces loiter; waiting for a sign of hope. A young woman wearing a tight ambulance uniform is pouring tea for some of the sick and wounded. She was smiling and polite, and yet very timid - like an inquisitive newborn lamb. Bond made his way through the mill of lost souls, his eyes fixed on her's. Was she a nurse? or perhaps an angel? They stood, at last, face to face; just as the heavens released a shaft of light to encircle them. His brown eyes met her blue. She held out her hand, and he took it, and kissed it softly, and reverently. "Allo Sir. You 'elpin with the war then?". "Yes, I'm on my way out of the country, as a foreign diplomat. I might not be back any time soon." "Ah-now, not to worry. We'll all pull through in the end. Maybe we'uw see each uver again?". "I would be graciously honoured to have a pictograph of you, so that I may carry it with me for always, and perform my duty in your honour." Her delicate adolescent hand delivers to him a £1 note. "' 'Eer Gov, this'z got my Dad's face on it, will this do?" "My deepest thanks," says Bond, gazing into her soul. She lifts up the corners of her mouth, almost smiling: "Can this be our little secret?" "On your secret service Ma'm." And with that, the sky broke asunder, sending down a curtain of rain. The pair do not break eye contact; and for a moment, seem lost in another universe. Slowly, people begin to walk between them, and in brief a moment Bond is gone. She looks down, and begins sobbing quietly. "For England." [Video Game Version: Mini game to cadge a quid from the Princess, OHMSS card.]
Nice video David, Glad he's happy with his purchase. That said i don't see the appeal.... & I've tried. my Brother has 4 of them he likes them alot and as investment pieces too. But i just feel the Omega design language all look alot alike & unexciting. Sorry.
02:25 Absolutely not. The Speedmaster is perfect as it is. It's one of the few pieces which Omega didn't ruin with stupid shiny shit and this is why it remains their GOAT model, their apex piece and this is why I got this current gen Speedmaster with sapphire. Thankfully they didn't mess with perfection - they only improved it. If you wan't "more pop" you can always choose from the 123425615 cringe remix versions, including their trash tier with the Moonswatch. But this right here - it's the only genuinely good and worth the price time piece. And you don't need the heavy on the eyes mug of Daniel Craig to confirm it. And this is without even bringing in "the other" subject with space. God knows, Omega are subtle about it.
I think that my Casios are more accurate, and my Seikos too. But it is a nice watch in the sense that it looks very sporty and elegant at the same time.
You'd be surprised how accurate the new METAS movement is. The one time I tested mine after 6 months of wearing, it was +0.4 seconds per day! I wore it every day and wound it fully every morning. I find that to be remarkable for a mechanical movement.

It’s an amazing piece.
I was just curious, did Gavin get the hesalite or Sapphire Sandwich model?
@@JoseJoeable Sapphire. You can tell by the polished middle links and the milky ring around the crystal.

You absolutely can’t go wrong with that Speedmaster. Legendary design. Beautiful. 👍🏻
Great choice! The Rolex Submariner and the Omega Speedmaster will always be my two favorite watches.
Congrats! I’ve bought two omegas from KoP and Richard Scott is my favorite staff member there. Wear it in good health!
Seamaster 300m is mine,black dial/bezel,that’s bond but in black,love it🇬🇧👍

How many links on each side of the bracelet you guys rocking?
Saving for mine.. After owing 1861 and selling it a few years ago, I think the new one is just a must. I can't wait

The 57 is beautiful! I was lucky enough to score a mid 1990s Omega Seamaster Chrono recently. It's wonderful… I love the Omega Chronos.
Still trying to get my first Omega! I’m after that Casino Royale edition!!!! That’s the HEAT!
He's got the watch, now give this guy some hair !!
I won one that was sent into space as a promotion and I guessed where it landed, very cool watch.
Love that watch. Next on my list for sure.

What's the music track that starts around 6:29 please? Shazam's coming up empty!
