    This song is about a girl who shoots her father because he is sexually abusing her. Steven Tyler, who wrote the lyric, explained in the Walk This Way autobiography: "That song is about a girl getting raped and pillaged by her father. It's about incest, something that happens to a lot of kids

    • @user-dz3zi8ug6o
      @user-dz3zi8ug6o 11 месяцев назад +5

      Absolutely. And like the lyrics say...She had to take him down easy and put a bullet in his brain
      She said, "'Cause nobody believes me. The man was such a sleeze
      He ain't never gonna be the same".
      Far too often children who are being sexually abused AREN'T believed. It happened to me. And when a Sunday School teacher told my class of 8 year old children that the Bishop was our best friend, would always listen and always help us with our troubles, I took my 8 year old self to visit him as soon as class was dismissed. He listened, yes. And he became extremely angry. But not with my parents. He became angry with me, an 8 year old girl. He accused me of being the vile spawn of Satan and lying against my 'noble parents'. He had them summoned, told them what I'd told him, and admonished them to take me home and discipline the devil out of me. It was a horrific torture session that Sunday, and finished with my father leaning close to my ear and whispering that I was a very small girl after all, nobody would ever believe me, and if I ever told anyone else what went on in HIS house, he'd take me and my little dog for a ride out into the desert, and either kill us himself and bury us where we wouldn't be found, or leave us for the rattlesnakes and coyotes to finish off. I had no reason not to believe that he'd make good on that threat. But I didn't kill him. Karma accomplished that task decades later.

    The whole "PUMP"-album was a masterpiece. But Janies got a gun is probably, besides "Love In An Elevator", the best track. Great reaction.

    When Steven Tyler went to rehab he was with women as well, and the majority were there because the initial trauma was being raped by their fathers or other family members.
    Hence the song and much later created Janie's House(s). A non profit for women and girls that are victims of domestic and sexual assault.

    This is almost towards the end of their tenure I am more into the early days of Aerosmith, especially the entire album of Rocks. Yet, they do have a ton of hits throughout the years, and have always liked them

    • @gman125
      @gman125 3 года назад

      Same here. The earlier years from them, will always be my favorite. Dream On LP was so raw, gritty, zero effects, and gave you exactly what you would hear from them, if they played in your Living room.

    Yes, Janie's daddy was not a good guy, and her mother never acknowledged it. I have loved Steven Tyler (Aerosmith) from the get-go. He's just crazy enough to be super cool. 😜 Check out him and P!NK singing "Misery" as a duet ruclips.net/video/lJ7lFLJY9GQ/видео.html She is absolutely the only one who could pull this off; it will blow your mind!

    Aerosmith is amazing and Steven is one of the absolutely best voices in rock. He can make the most amazing sounds with just his voice. His voice is an actual musical instrument. This song is about a girl who is sexually abused by her dad, her mom knew and did nothing and nobody believes her so she shoots him to protect herself because she can’t take it any longer and then goes on the run.

    Earlier years, starting with the debut LP Dream On, is the best Aerosmith. Later stuff was all a mainstream sellout, just like Metallica did. I still like most of it, but the sound changed drastically (softer), and took away from their edginess.
