How do they know where the safe is? Did they spend that much time in the house to find the safe? Maybe families should keep assets and cash in the bank safes! They should get a dog and then get a dog sitter. Dogs can alert to crimes.
If you live in a rich neighborhood get private security to patrol.

I used to park overnight in Marina Del Rey until the homeowners association had a man slash my tires, twice-- last August and then in September-October. I watched out for the neighborhood and was even told that I made older residents feel safe. Can't help rich people who turn against those who watch their backs, they create the very opportunity for burglaries in their homes.
They keep piles of cash at home in a neighborhood with recent burglaries, why no alarm system?
I grew up in LA and even lived in South Los Angeles for 7 years totaling almost 60 years. Never had a break in but had neighbors and heard about others that did. It does happen. Watching the news and watching Fox you'd think it happens to everyone in California. LA needs more cops and they need to let them do their job. Plain and simple.
Cops can't do their jobs due to politics and the thugs know it so they will continue to terrorize law abiding, tax paying citizens. Time to get the Hell Out of Gruesome Newsome's Nightmare.

I usually store my cash at the bottom of a trash can underneath the trash bag that way when my place gets burglarized they completely ignore the huge amount of cash that I keep at the bottom of my trash can and they steal the other stuff which is substantially worth less

I live in LA. This is not just a "sad state of affairs" but a really dangerous state of affairs that the police's "hands are tied" even when something like this goes down. They should change the motto that's on the side of every police car from "to serve and protect" to "our hands are tied" Vote in November everyone. There is going to be a proposition to start dismantling prop 47, which caused much of this headache.

Safes are somewhat silly to me. It's basically a target if you get robbed. I'd so making area in your wall or floor with a hidden door would be much safer for important things.

L.A. is sooooo bad now. LAPD losing officers left and right, our local government is super soft on crime, it was announced a few weeks ago that some California (Kaliforniastan) prisons will close, and these bad guys know where to target. Areas not really patrolled.
A few years ago, a friend of mine at the top of Pacific Palisades had his home robbed when he was out of town and cleaned him out. Almost always an inside job, or someone watching like contractors. They know where and when to hit.
How did they know that they had a safe? So horrible
