Rutherford may be right that not being focused is a bs excuse, but his justification by saying louisville being more physical doesnt make sense. If a team is unfocused, of course they would be dominated. Again, he may still be right; his explanation is just incorrect.
Louisville also had a bye and didn't play 4 straight primetime games against ranked opponents. ND played in Ireland and proceeded to play 7 more games before getting a bye. The season was 2/3 over by time they got a break. They barley beat duke the week before, I think the dam just broke so yes ND came out flat against Louisville. @dashx1103 sure a Lousiville guy and a Notre Dame guy is the perfect balance. The difference is that Tyler keeps it very middle of the road in his opinions and takes. Tyler, I was going to write what I usually write, that I really enjoyed another entertaining cast... But I can't. I don't think there is anyone who would doubt my suppoprt for the podcast, its direction, and its principal, but I will say, we do part ways when we're talking about personal things about real people - especially fellow Irish, no matter who they are. I think it is especially hard for me to justify throwing Rudy under the bus after your active, I would say, vociferous, defense of Riley Leonard at times in very recent history. If there is a principal here, it is that personal attacks are sort of out of bounds. Hey, Riley may not be checking all the boxes, but you can hardly say he sucks. He simply doesn't. Even so, you can level play-quality criticism, but personal issues, should be out of bounds. Rudy is in a slightly different category, since, he _did_ suck, in every category save one. He was relentless, valorous, and single-mindedly focused on playing to try and help his team. Other than that, he was, in a sense, uneditedly deserved of play-quality-based criticism. It is also true he had a film made on his family, its cartoonishly unsupportive characters, and the unrelentlingly, ludicrously depressing nature of his life through 1975. I met and interacted with Rudy and some of the more regular contributors to the 1975 team (at what was then called the Jamison Inn, tailgates, post parties, and elsewhere) a number of times between 1988 and 1991. While I have to say what limited things I knew about his life at that time was equal parts uninspiring and self-inflicted wound, he was and is still, a real person, about whom a film with a degree of fiction is inevitably inter-twined. In a fit of Fate, I was later working at a Hotel that played host to various portions of the cast and crew of "Rudy", and was in the stands at the BC game in '92 where some of the filming took place. The film is a work of fiction, with some non-fiction under-pinning it, and Ruetigger's comments notwithstanding, other opinions are probably more accurate. While I can say that, at that time I met him, he was often suffered more than he was welcomed, he was never rejected or made fun of. Nor were the variously tragic and embarrassing events, pre and post 1975, of his life publicly made sport of.
