- Skating is a very complex movement with lots of different parts, however, there are 7 pillars that transcend every movement and every mechanic. If you only ever worked on these pillars you would no doubtably become a better skater and a better player.
The 7 pillars include:
1. Crevice
2. Y-angle
3. Shin angle
4. Rocker
5. Heel pressure
6. Footwork
7. Cadence

Quick video on the definitions of the pillars of skating
Let me know what questions you have on the pillars and what pillar you need to work on most ⬇
For me it's shin angle and cadence!
Is there any drills to practice the mechanics?
Check out the drills in the fundamental inside and outside edge mechanics reels.
@@TheDownhillSkater oh sorry, I meant the pillars 😅
@@Hockey_nerd gotcha! You practice the pillars by focusing on them. No need for specific drills
@@TheDownhillSkater thanks 👍
Thank you for the tips
Anytime! you can learn more in my "pillars of skating playlist".
objectionable lyrics!

I like how pushing harder is not on the list. Also why is Shin angle a mechanical advantage?

Let me know if you still have questions after
Deep shin angle, more knee bend, lower position, more power/stability, longer stride.
I just realized why dorsiflexon is so important in Punch Turns. I try to always maintain shin angle, but yeah once you lose it on say your forehand punch then yeah, things unravel from the narrow entry of the punch. I had not thought about how shin angle is actually a form of dorsiflexon. I had been doing that one lift your foot into imaginary punches in the air and then achieve dorsiflexon with toe up. Genius channel (BTW I'm a Train 2.0 certified coach too).
"Rhythm" not "Rhyme"... Also, the music you chose for your soundtrack is painful.
Thanks for the correction, missed that! There’s always the mute button 😀
