    The DMF is supposed to move a small amount like you demonstrate in the video. This is to assist with idle noise in the transmission. There is also a rocking motion that the flywheel needs to have. The torsional drive springs are much firmer and you will not be able to displace them by hand. This takes a lot more torque.

      Yes, and this is the point: the GR yaris unit is unsprung, while still DMF

    I believe mis-shifts happen mostly with stock mounts and bushings since there's so much free play in that rubber. Gear shifter base bushings made a huge difference for me, made the shifting even more precise, but hard while gearbox is cold (sub 40C). Really have to be millimeter precise with shifts (running all mounts and bushings upgraded and Foresight short shifter).

      Yes, certainly the mounts are a big factor, and I changed them all as one of my first mods. Still, the real issue is the flywheel

    Thanks A , I really think when going slightly lighter solid flywheel with a good plate the car would really shift nicely, I noticed that the OEM flywheel really rev hangs alot and that causes problems especially down gears , lost my 2nd gear sync because of this it was worn out completely, and that indicates that the rpm is not coming down quickly enough

      Cheers mate, I’m happy you nailed it too! Please let me know how the SMF Single Mass Flywheel goes when you install it!

    Just check for a broken gearbox mount and install a reinforced one, you will get rid of the 10% of problems that you got left 👍
    Just the torque one on the back of the gearbox

      @@AJClubsport ok, then it’s weird. I had this issues when I had the CAE shifter and was 100% fixed with the solid torque mount, even with the organic clutch. Have you tried to reset the lever position with the service procedure?

    Hello Adriano, I’ve had some laps in the Ricardo Tormo circuit and this happened to me, your videos are so helpful and I really like them, thanks.
    But i want to ask you something, my car has just 9.500km and since there is news about the new 2024 gr yaris with all the improvements I would really like to know your opinion about the car and if it’s a good option considering selling mi 2022 GR Yaris to buy the new one. I’m really considering the option of selling it before the new one releases so the price doesn’t drop.
    Could you make a video talking about this, I would really appreciate it.🙏🏻

      Thankyou for viewing and sharing your thoughts, I really appreciate it! Well, pit simply: the new car addresses in an evolutionary way, many problems seen in the first version. If your car is stock, you should strongly consider changing it for the new one. If it’s modified no, as the modifications fix the issues and the basic car is the same. Hope this helps!

    i hear that the DMF also helps absorb the shock so it doesn't damage the gear box. is that true for this transmission ?

    • @AJClubsport
      @AJClubsport  4 месяца назад

      Strangely enough, and I show this in the gearbox video, our DMF doesn’t even really have any damping in it, so the teo massess spin almost freely by hand off the car!

      @@AJClubsport i have a 24 GR Corolla and was thinking of switching to a SMF but was not sure it would damage the transmission. how bad is the chatter sound of the SMF on the car? hearing mixed results some say its very little some say its a lot.

    I had my flywheel replaced under warranty due to my complaint with clunking sound when clutch gets engaged 😂no wonder it nade that sound and does it still, the whole system has a big fat safety/delay function.
    What do you think about CAE shifter?

    • @AJClubsport
      @AJClubsport  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, I believe you will fix it only with a SMF!
      I am not a fan of the cae shifter, too much hassle, work and cost for limited benefits. Better to install the cable bushings on top of the gearbox, a fix that they brought as standard also on the 2024 Mk2

    • @romka_ind
      @romka_ind 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@AJClubsport Yup, this flywheel is, let's say it, "funny", that's why feedback is so strange. Metal bushings on the cables are must, I added them to the list as soon as they were made. I have a massive cycling background, and everything that is connecting to cables is my specialty.😀 I'm interested in Cae or similar shifter cause are ave side play limiters, which can make 1st to 2nd or 3rd to 2nd feel better, at least in my theory.

      @@romka_indTo my understanding CAE also shortens left-right movement - easier mis-shift. Unless you have upgraded all mounts and related bushings I wouldn't advise it.

    I have the same issue from day one, owned the car since july 2022 , now have 20200 km's . 2 times serviced the engine already (oil change) and normal stuff. But I didn't tell about it at toyota about the gearbox issue at my local toyota dealer. I Don't really know how I should approach them and tell them about the issue, they might think I caused the problem. It is already from day one I'm having this crunching gear 2nd to 3th. it's very annoying and I never really pushed the car because of this.

      I’m sorry to hear this, but it does happen on these gearboxes… Tell Toyota: they should pass it in warranty, even because how could you had damaged it?
