make sure in linear pattern only 4 item to selected 1. Cut-Loft1 for the start 2. Cut-Loft2 3. Fillet1 4. Cut-Extrude4 for the end then in option click Geometry pattern
I have no idea what the fuck geometry pattern even means but god fucking bless you man, I've been fucking with SW for hours and the fucking pattern wouldn't fucking work
For all the people whose LINEAR PATTERN does not work Make sure you are selecting the right procedure instead of just following the video Names can be different there should be only 5 that are selected. Two medium Holes cut at start loft 1 loft 2 Fillet two small holes cut in the end
I'm a self taught high school student using this software and, (using this video as a guide) I built a DOHC head, cams, and custom sized valves from scratch.
+Mark C Hi Mark, I have the same problem as the guys above. THe extrusion cuts through my Loft Cuts, creating a gap. Not sure where we are making the mistake, but its bugging me no end!
Ok I just figure it out guys. We put our hole extrusions on the wrong side of the original extrusion (body) flip them over to the other side and we are good! (Im trying to figure out how to do that without having to redraw all the features I'm trying to flip)
The only thing i really couldnt figure out is how we can produce this head including a way from valve hole to exhaust hole by using loft? Of course if it is made out of one part!
İbrahim Oğultay Good q., it is produced by "sand casting" , A molten 'grey cast iron' is poured into a previously made cylinder head from plastic foam placed in the sand which will be evaporated later & the iron will shape the place!
SolidWorks Tutorial ☺ My grandmother used to be a wooden moldmaker who had engineered the wood model of the engine, and the models were sent to another factory where they were cast by sand casting into metal
I don't have the same sizes as yours in the bottoming tapped hole, I used the same standard as you did (ANSI Inch) but the sizes are different (the closest I found is 1/4-18 NPSM), I'd appreciate if you could help me, thanks in advance!
When I make the lofted cut, I can't select the circular edge for some reason. So, I had had to make a converted sketch for the circle to proceed. What could be the problem?
ANSI INCH >Bottom tapered hole IS NOT IN THE LISTED HOLE WIZARD GIVE ME A SECONDARY IDEA OR HOW TO ADD OTHER HOLE WIZARD COMMANDS....i m using 2019 version PLZ RPY
Hey guys, when the linear pattern doesn't work, it's solidworks being a pain, sometimes you need to just leave it alone for a minute and it will work after. (I love solidworks but, it can be annoying).
Make sure your selections match all of his from top to bottom and then you find the bits your missing, as you select them other options appear. Also, right at the bottom of the click on the links(and deselect them).
Hello At Linear Pattern i have such a message "rebuild errors - unable to create contour geometry. Please check the loft section". I did with geometry and without it, but still not working, could you help me? cause am leading the tutorial, but i have such a kind of problem. I just want to solve it for knowledge. Thank you In Advance
Nikoloze Nikortsmindeli Well, it is not strange because the loft is kind of complicated to be patterned. So, quick choices I see now, try with the loft to be precise, or to be done again, or the1/3 block of head block with 2 lofts to be patterned as body.

Thank you so much sir..that helped me out
Really thankyou Soooo much yarrr
THIS SHIT STILL WON'T FUCKING WORK GODDAMNIT
So ugh... you need the GEOMETRY PATTERN to be ticked for this to work in SW 2020
Nvm I'm a fucking idiot. You only need to turn geometry pattern on if you include the loft surface in the linear pattern
Parabéns. Ótimo Trabalho. Obrigado por compartilhar.
Thanks for all mate, I'm learning a lot!
Supercross177 Thanks Supercross177 for your nice supercross comment, hope you enjoyed the learning here!!
The fillet at the corners is 25.4 mm which matchs the engine block one👍🏻
Thanks man!
Ty bro
Very good tutorial, I really learned a lot with this video!
the 2nd last linear pattern u do, don't forget the small extruded cut circle, u need to select 3 features for this step
this is really cool with all necessary details ,, thank you very much
You are the Best...
Hernando Jove Thanks Hernando Jove!

at 18:13 u're suggesting that this circle should have diameter 31,75 mm ? Couse in this case it is too big, circle sticks out from the form.
+Nargil55 i have the same problem

me too. i have the same problem. Have you finished?
Just leave it sticking out, couse further in video he moves (dont remember what exactly) one of edges and it work just fine.
Can someone please tell me how you get that texture look while you are modeling? When I change the appearance it only changes the color
Although I may be too late...... In you part tree there is a Materials branch. Double click and select a material.

Un saludo
can i just ask where are you getting all those measurements, and thank you so much i cant wait to assemble all the parts
Jonathan Shirion Thanks Jonathan for your comment, The measurements are measured (many methods including the manual measurements & blue prints).
why do u change the dimesions of the cylender head without saying
itsnot fitting in both sides
Awesome job!!! a question, yuo've got all dimensions of the model?
At 3 mins, why are increasing on side, and decreasing the other; would it not be easier to just move the valve seats in the pre sketch?
The only thing i really couldnt figure out is how we can produce this head including a way from valve hole to exhaust hole by using loft? Of course if it is made out of one part!
