A flying visit to Abbots Bromley -

Looking back through some old archived videos, I stumbled upon this footage from Summer 2021 where I flew from Darley Moor to Abbots Bromley. I did have some audio issues which I think is why this footage never made it to a full RUclips video.

Thanks Tom. We do seem to have lots of small airstrips to drop in and out of. I am discovering new ones all the time. I’d swap our weather with you though! Cold, wet and windy where I am at present. 👍

Hi Ian. I’m not sure if they would welcome a gaggle of us in to Abbots Bromley. I was lucky to get PPR on my own. I think they’re quite noise sensitive although that was 3 years ago. Things might have changed since.

Beautiful airfield that is. The approach to 04 over the water is fabulous. Nice cafe called Antlers about a 10 - 15 minute walk away well worth a visit.

It certainly was a very well kept airfield. I had the place to myself when I visited. I had heard that 2 stroke flexwings were not always welcome, but I had no problems getting PPR provided I agreed to not overfly the reservoir or hand around in the circuit. 👍

It never ceases to amaze me just how many small grass strips there are dotted all over the place. I love visiting them. Hoping to add a few more names into the log book this year. 👍

Hi Kev. I can’t remember the wind conditions on the day, it was a long time ago. I don’t remember it being particularly windy. And yes, I agree, it’s nice to be able to look back at sunnier weather. That’s partly why I started videoing my flights in the first place. Hopefully ☀️ is on the way. 👍

Fair point. Normally I wouldn’t bother but this was old footage which I never intended to publish as a video after my mic detached on the flight out. Thank you for the feedback. Normal service will resume shortly. 👍
