Really useful stuff, Paul. I've been looking at the Microavionics stuff over recent weeks and wondering about different combos. This was really helpful - it's always good to get the opinion of someone who has tried the gear and whose opinion you value. 👍 P.S. It has to be said that the level of polish on your editing these days is pretty darn good. The zoom jumps keep interest, the slick and brief title sequence etc - it all makes videos much more professional looking and watchable. Credit where credit is due and all that. 😁
Thanks Dan. I don’t think you would be disappointed with MicroAvionics kit. I think the fact that so many flexwing pilots use their equipment speaks volumes. Hope to catch up with you at some point if spring ever decides to make an appearance. How are things at Shobdon?
@@paulieb796 Yes they definitely seem a safe bet and I think I just need to decide on the radio now. Bit worried about my ridiculously shaped head and may need to try an Icaro Solar X and Scarab just to see which fits better! Yes things are going really well at Shobdon thanks - loving being back in the air and I haven't forgotten everything which is great. Bit of a heavy heart leaving Darley Moor to be honest but in the words of a certain big bloke I'll be back. I need some flycamping in my life! 👍😁
They’re great bikes. Mine has just had its first outing after winter hibernation. Hoping to put some miles on it this year. Still debating doing some motorbike related videos. 👍
Great video Paul. I’ve also got that AGPTEK lav mic. It came bundled with a very handy bag of adapters. The only extra one I had to buy separately was for connecting to an iPhone. Cracking bargain at only just over a tenner 🙂
Hi Paul, love your Vlogs. I do have one equipment related question: is there any regulation on what type of helmet you have to fly with in different categories of aircraft. I notice in most sub70’s people use a much lighter helmet than the one I use in the Quik I train in? Cheers. Colin
Hey Paul. When the audio out cable is connected to the go pro, does the audio from the microphone get recorded only when the PTT is pushed ? Or is it that the switch 3 being toggled allows the talking to be recorded when the PTT is or isn't pushed ?
Hi there. I have the side tone activated (switch 3) so everything I say into the mic is sent along the audio cable to the GoPro and is recorded regardless of whether the PTT button is pressed or not. 👍
@@paulieb796thank you for your clearly articulated response to my question. I just received the cable from microavionics today and the audio on my hero 12 recorded from my PM100 microphone sounds amazing.
hello buddy how you doing i fly paramotors and use the pm100 headset when filming i get a lot of noice from engine more so if i turn my head left and right im useing a dji action 3 with dji mic adaptor and the extra mic cover done everything eddie has told me but still bad if you have any info you can give me would be so helpfull many thanks paul
Eddie really is the expert in these things so I would struggle to advise you anything that he hasn’t already. I also get a lot of wind noise especially if I turn my head to the side. Make sure you have the mic as close to your mouth as possible (touching your lips). A visor can help also. Does the DJI have any noise cancelling features, I know the DJI mic I use has a noise cancelling function.
Top video again Paul, really interesting mate 👍
Ta Fred. I 'll get round to making some flying videos again one day. If it ever stops bloody raining !
Excellent video Paul. Great info for when I get started. I agree, I much prefer a video with audio content.
Thankyou Simon. How’s your recovery going?
@paulieb796 Great thanks. Clips out yesterday so I can start on my rehabilitation. Just need a date for my other leg.
How's your ribs?

Great choice in motorcycle. I currently have a 2021 cb500x. Love it ! Ride and fly safe 👍

Thanks for that Paul, helpful as ever 👍. Think I'll get some practice in on the bike in preparation for filming my own flights in the future 🤞
It never ceases to amaze me just how many pilots are also bikers. Now there’s an idea for a future video?? 👍
@paulieb796 I sometimes travel to my flying lessons on the bike it feels like a real treat of a day 😎

And the sound quality is surprisingly good for something that is so cheap. 👍
I've been struggling with my intercom audio, this was very helpful, thanks Paul.
Glad it helped although your audio sounds spot on. 👍
Very interesting Paul. An eye opener to me. I will be knocking your door down the road 👍👍
No problem. Happy to help if I can. 👍
Thanks for sharing your setup. 👍
No problem 👍 Hope it was is some help.

Hi Paul, radio is pronounced Yay Su ( I have one for Ham Radio, Yaesu FT60R). Not got a licence yet, but hoping to take lessons soon at Ince.
Thanks for clarifying that. Best of luck with your lessons. Let us know how you get on. 👍

Hmm. Good question. Hang on a moment while I ask someone who is clever than me (Giles Fowler). I’ll get back to you. 👍
Woohoo, I'll have to use some of those hints and tips. Can you tell me how to turn my photo on please😜.
Sorry mate, Mrs B tells me I can’t turn anything on!!!
